A thrilling finish in the desert say Branden Grace and Marc Warren trade birdies and eagles over the last few holes. Ultimately Grace rolled in his birdie putt on 18 which Warren couldn't match. Bernd Wiesberger was hanging onto their coat tails and finished with birdie for third place on his own. All three were picks but this time no one managed the trifecta. The combo of Grace and Wiesberger was the closest and three Fantasy Leaguers including two of the leaders had chosen them. Both Barragan and Davie also picked Justin Rose and George Coetzee but Barragan also had Anders Hansen which gave him a fairly comfortable cushion in the end. Kwinigolfer also had all five of his picks finish in the points but he had Warren and neither of Grace or Wiesberger, a creditable third place for Kwini..
The surging BlueCoverman also had five picks, including Grace, score points and he was able to overhaul Ned B-H who had four picks, including Grace, score points. 1GrumpyGolfer had Grace and Wiesberger and he moved up into sixth spot just ahead of McLaren and newcomer TheCleaver who had three and two picks score points respectively; they both had Grace too. SetupDetermines and Pedro round out the top ten. Setup slipped after just two of his picks managed to hold onto a scoring position. Pedro had just three picks left but one of the was pretty good in Grace.
i'm Never Wrong, RedRage, and Beninho all had three picks score points but they didn't have a lot of quality. GoldWolf and Hibbz both had two picks score points, LadyPutt just one. Super_Realist's picks didn't trouble the scorers.
For the fourth day running 65 was the low round score and three players shot that score to move into the top 10. Byeong-Hun An and Gregory Bourdy both moved into fifth. Alex Noren finished ninth and scored points for BlueCoverman and Kwinigolfer. Wade Ormsby shot 79 for the worst round and he finished one shot above Mikko Korhonen who finshed at +6 in last place.

The Qatar Masters has only ever seen two repeat winners since its inception in 1998. They are Adam Scott and most recently Paul Lawrie who last won in 2012. Past winners are lacking in attendance as only seven of will tee it up this week. Sergio Garcia will be next to attempt a succesful title defence.
World Number 2, Henrik Stenson, headlines the field and he'll be hoping for a better performance this week. Justin Rose has also made the short trip to Qatar and Garcia is the only other top 10er to join them in the field. Only four others from the top 50 are teeing it up and just 53 players are providing value to the OWGR points on offer for this event, for more detail see the OWGR threads that GPB, Robopz, et al contribute to.
There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one. There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligble for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Re: Fantasy League 2015 - Winter/Spring Session - Event #02
Hopefully you'll have got the hang of this by now so it's a short turnaround this week so apologies for less time to make picks. I only realised that this is kicking off on Wednesday to coincide with the end of the Qatari(?) weekend. (Cue BlueCoverman and Setup [they never let me down] to point out the wonders of the League Administration.....)
Next week will see the Fantasy League shift to the PGA Tour for the Waste Management Phoenix Open because we all know that proper golf will be back that week.... (not so subtle attempt to set Super off)

Cat A: Alexander Levy, Sergio Garcia & Marc Warren (res Ernie Els)
Cat B: Richie Ramsey, Tyrrell Hatton & Peter Uihlein (res Thomas Pieters)
Cat C: Paul Lawrie, Lucas Bjerregaard & Anthony Wall (res Matthew Fitzpatrick).
I'm on holiday for the next two weeks so can I please have numbers 1, 3 and 7 in each category plus 13 (or nearest) as reserve? You know what I'm like with "picking by numbers" And in case I don't get to pick the week after as I might be busy at work, then the same numbers.

Sorry BH, I didn't realise until yesterday when I was collating the field that it started today. The working week starts on a Sunday so they moved it forward to avoid the final round being played to an audience of 3 blokes and a dog.
Thursday start next week in Phoenix, promise.

Hey Grumps,
This tournament feels like you've rushed to get this out after "setupdetermines..." pushed you on the other thread.
Please don't feel you have to bow to peer pressure. I certainly don't expect you to run a competition every week, it's a long season and I don't want you suffering from burn out! Maybe a Tiger style season focusing on quality not quantity will keep interest high across the board. I don't see the need for for than 20 tournaments, otherwise it may become a bit of a slog.
Thanks for your efforts running this in 2015.

Ray, to break up the admin work I normally get the OWGR listing on a Monday and the field on a Tuesday as it's normally finalised by then with qualifiers, withdrawals, and alternates all included/excluded.
This week looks rushed because I forgot that they start this one early. I didn't want to go to the PGA Tour Humana event as they play that over three courses to start with and that makes low round points scoring a bit of a lottery and skewed for round 3.
I take on board your point about quality over quantity and the two events this week were reasonably matched OWGR points wise. I'd be happy to post a list of ET and PGA tour events and perhaps we can collectively decide upon a schedule of events.

I suppose they didn't want the three blokes watching this week bunking off work to be there.

Grumps, thanks for your efforts.
The Desert Swing should be on your shortlist, but as far as I'm concerned you can give a low priority to most of the Saffer and Asian tourneys this winter/spring. (Although I'd happily participate if you run it every week.)

The opening round looks like it has just finished. The wrong Fisher brother (Oliver, I picked Ross) shot 65 for the low round of the day. Qatari amateur Ali Al-Shahrani comfortably took the worst round of the day with an 85. Seven picks have shot 67 or lower to get into the points for round one. Full leaderboard updates to come in a couple of hours.

Seven picks are presently tied for third or better after round 1 of the Qatar Masters. SetupDetermines has the best placed pick in Rafa Cabrera Bello who held the lead for so long with a round of 66 before being pipped by Oliver Fisher. Fisher shot 65 to take the lead and reduce Setup's bonus points. Six other picks shot 67 and BlueCoverman, Ned B-H, and TheCleaver have all picked three of them. Barragan, Davie, Kwinigolfer, and Pedro each have two picks to shoot 67. 1GrumpyGolfer, LadyPutt, McLaren, and Super_Realist, each had one pick shoot 67. If your name isn't mentioned here you've not troubled the scorer as yet.
Qatari amateur Ali Shahrani had the worst round of the day with an 85. He'll need to set a scoring record to make the cut tomorrow which currently stands at -1. As it stands over a third of the picks are outside of that mark; they'll also need to go low to make sure of a payday.

Hey no worries Grumps. It just looked like setup bullied you into organising an event this week! If you want to do an event every week that's up to you. You go ahead and create a rod for bluecoverman to beat you with
I think that to keep a high level of participation you need to give at least 3 days notice to allow everyone to make their picks - many people don't come on here every day.
To keep it fresh I also think it's better to stick to the higher profile events, it creates a bit of anticipation knowing that an event is coming up.
Off the top of my head, I would go with:
Majors
WGCs
On Euro Tour: Abu Dhabi, PGA championship, Scottish Open or the links matchplay, Dunhill Links, then the finals events in Turkey and Dubai
PGA Tour: the ones that attract the most interest like Quail Hollow, Honda, Pebble, Players. As many as you want really.

looks like robbie rock has ruined my chances of a 9/9 cut sweep this week - hey ho... T1, T1 and T3 as things stand, not too shabby.

Five picks missed the cut - this has to be my worst week ever Thank goodness for Marc Warren! Serves me right for writing down Tommy Fleetwood and then crossing him out and swapping Anthony Wall and Matthew Fitzpatrick round - I had Wall as reserve originally. Seems my skills on the "other side" have deserted me

So Davie does a Setup and blows his pick's chances of low round by succumbing to LPRPitis.

Thought I had it with Cheeseburger too ... though I do have the three leaders at the moment.

For the second straight day 65 was the low round and Ali Al-Shahrani accumulated the worst round. Tommy Fleetwood and Johan Carlsson both shot 65 but that didn't mean a lot for the Fantasy Leaguers. Marc Warren, on the other hand, shooting 65 meant bonus points for Kwinigolfer and LadyPutt. Ali Al-Shahrani was joined by his stablemate Ali Saleh Al Kaabi in having the worst round; both had 83, unsurprisingly these Qatari amateurs are propping up the leaderboard.
The cut line remained at -1 and some that needed low rounds did just that to make the cut. Some who needed solid rounds to maintain their position imploded; I'm looking at you snowman Schwartzel! Others just didn't have it and missed the cut. Cut bonuses were in short supply and only eight Fantasy Leaguers earned them. Category C proved the downfall of everyone and Robert Rock spoiled the perfect set for Barragan; he has two cut bonuses. SetupDetermines also earned two cut bonuses. Cut bonuses were also earned by Beninho, Davie, I'm Never Wrong, McLaren, Ned B-H, and RedRage.
Nine picks are in the top 10 and six more are just one shot back. Round 3 has the potential to separate the wheat from the chaff.
