Froch passes on GGG, Hopkins and Degale - will wait for Chavez
BF/WBA 'regular' super middleweight champion Carl Froch, and his promoter Eddie Hearn, are taking a pass on doing a fight with former two-division champion Bernard Hopkins. Instead, they are going to wait for a June fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June.
Chavez has finalized a fight with Andrzej Fonfara for April 18th. If he wins, he hopes to face Froch next. There were talks for a Chavez-Froch fight on March 28. The Nottingham fighter withdrew on Monday with an elbow injury.
Hearn told Gareth Davies of the Telegraph that he offered Froch the possibility of facing either Hopkins and Gennady Golovkin on a June date in Nottingham, and Froch passed on both as prefers to wait for a fight with Chavez in Las Vegas.
Froch told Telegraph Sport: "I'm not really interested. I'm prepared to wait until (I'm fit again) and I'll face Chavez in Las Vegas in June."
Hearn told the paper: "The focus is still on Chavez in June, but I think the Froch-Hopkins fight would be massive. The choice will come down to what Carl wants to do, though."
I wouldnt be bothered about a Hopkins fight but its a major disappointment hes passing on Golovkin. No doubt Golovkin will get the blame for this of course and Froch was joking again about not wanting to fight him again, comedian that he is.

He gains nothing with Hopkins. Hopkins is still a quality operator but he is coming off a heavy loss and is 50. He loses then haters will blast him as an overrated face first Brit with an outstanding chin.
The only way he would get any real credit is if he stopped Hopkins. Though even then, there will be those that will claim his last beating softened him up and Father time has bust through the door big style.
Would like to see him fight GGG but that ain't going to happen.

He should fight Golovkin. He wont be short of a few quid if he takes that fight on. Its a big fight. Unfortunately Froch doesnt fancy it though.

Few do. I notice Alvarez hasn't mentioned him now his big middleweight championship fight has fallen through.

If GGG wants the fight so much step up to 168lbs until then it's neither ducking or swerving the fight.

Why not Chavez first , then sign off with Golovkin? And maybe one for the road with DeGale.

Froch being my favourite active fighter, I'd rather not believe it, it just looks so much so that it's hard not to. Endless means Cotto, Martinez, Quillin and possibly Froch as far as I can see.

Froch doesnt fancy it. He has said it himself and his promoter has said it. It is a pity because it is a surefire great fight. Froch wants his Chavez fight so nothing Golovkin can say or do will stop that. Froch doesnt want it.

Hearn should of offered him GGG or hopkins in Vegas not in Nottingham, has he not heard froch bleet on and on about vegas.
Or maybe just send froch on holiday to Vegas, let him get the strippers and gambling out of his system, surely fast Eddie could stretch to a boys weekend, fast Eddie, the ifl guy and froch living it large hangover style.

Or they could skip the strippers and gambling and just drive round together in a stretch limo cracking their little in jokes and eating strawberries. It'd be a hoot.

Should push for a unification with Ward, Ward needs to get back in the ring as has perhaps been out of the business long enough for Froch to have a chance. Could be in Vegas as well.
