Are Rock stars that appear in films belittling themselves ??...
Watched a movie where Roger Daltrey gets wasted right at the beginning........I'm thinking what you doing ??....You're a legend aren't you better than this !!.........Rock stars should look down on movies...If you can write material and perform in front of 50,000 whenever you feel like it why are you prostituting yourself in some crap movie !!
Rock stars should be on pedestals.........
Alice Cooper in Prince of Darkness.............Another one...
Meatloaf - The 51st state........
Stick to music and let us revere you..............Don't break the spell..............

Meatloaf has been in lots of better films than the 51st state!
Rocky Horror, Fight Club are just two that spring to mind!
Bowie was in the Prestige which was amazing. Also in The Man who fell to Earth which was awful though!

Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave) has a non-speaking role in a Jon Favreau film called "Made". The lead Singer of a band called "Live" played a waiter in "American Psycho" Lemmy was in "Hardware" playing a boatman. He had about three lines
It's easy money for them, probably only costs them a day out of their life and your producers know people will go see a film that has a "rock" star just to see whether or not they can act. Mostly they can't which is why they have walk-on parts. Marilyn Manson has been in "Sons of Anarchy" recently as has Henry Rollins. Rollins was also in "Heat" "The Chase", "Johnny Mnemonic" etc.
Madonna
J-Lo
Courtney Love
Cher
Whilst not "rock stars" per se they've all had varying degrees of success in films.

Fair enough.
Back to the point, I think that it is probably better this way than actors trying to be rock stars...

I'm talking about stars............Not your average two single muppet......
If you're a "legend" why look like a normal artist scrimping for a pay check with a crap role in a movie..
Leave that "Mystique" in tact !!

Generally agree with Truss's opening post although there are exceptions.
Thought Daltrey was pretty decent as the prisoner on the run in McVicar. His prison mate and failed escaper in that film was also well played by Adam Faith, pop (rather than rock) star of the 1960s.
Agree that Sting normally seems pretentious in films but why should he be any different there?
Probably the worst ever acting by a rock star was that from Jagger playing the Australian outlaw of the title in Ned Kelly. Worth seeing just to savour a truly dreadful performance.

Alice Cooper also played Freddie Krugers dad in part 6 too! Henry Rollins is more of an actor these days too (as is Justin Timberlake).
And lets not forget the King! (Elvis not Busta Rhymes in Halloween!)

They were kind of playing themselves........I was thinking more of crummy roles in crummy movies....Not so much the cannonball run thing..
Then again Blues Brothers 2000 should have been on my sequel thread..
Goodman's decent movie average is 1%...........Remember King Ralph........Oh my lord !!

Have you seen a film called Matinee, Truss?
Its based on William Castle promoting films at local cinemas, played out against the cuban missile threat. REally good film (Joe Dante possibly or Robert zemeckis)

Its along the lines of Ed Wood in that its one of those films that you can see the director (it was Joe Dante) really admired and made an homage to.

The Howling...are you sure TRUSS? That film had full frontal female nudity. Didn't think that would be up your street.
