Three picks were in the final group and at the end it came down to who could hold their nerve over the closing stretch. Brooks Keopka did just that as Hideki Matsuyama and Martin Laird faltered on 17 and Laird slipped further back on 18. Bubba watson and Ryan Palmer tried their hardest to get their hands on the prize and just like McLaren and SetupDetermines they came up just short. McLaren had six of his seven remaining picks score points and SetupDetermines had five of his seven score. They couldn't close the gap on Pedro and TheCleaver; they didn't score as well as the chasing pack but they had done enough to create a gap that couldn't quite be closed. Ultimately TheCleaver held on for his first win.
Beninho, using a tip from Kwini, made out like a bandit and shot up the leaderboard thanks to Koepka. Raycastleunited was hot on his heels and he finished just ahead of LadyPutt whose "picks" proved to be quite successful. Redrage, Kouchi, and SirBenson finished strongly and they rounded out the top ten. I'mNeverWrong should have paid off the administrator as he developed a nosebleed, tumbled down the leaderboard, to finish in his own words in mid table obscurity.
Kevin Streelman and Freddie Jacobson tied for round of the day with 64s. Pedro earned bonus points for that. Russell Henley sank without a trace after a 78. Barragan and TheCleaver picked up some points there. Bill Haas also had a day to forget, his 77 saw him slip to the bottom of the leaderboard and last place. Beninho, Hibbz, and I'mNeverWrong earned points from Haas.

There's lots happening in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend. There's the return of TV golf viewership as Tiger Woods puts in a rep in his quest to slow his freefall in the OWGR. There's also the small matter of the World Throwball final where deflate-gate seems to be hogging the headlines. Personally, I think the Patriots should bung a testicular cancer charity a few million bucks and say it was a marketing campaign to get you to check your balls. There's also the gauntlet that is the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale. 'Elf and Safe-tee is being used to alleviate some of the hoopla that comes with this short par 3; no caddy races (some of the old lags wouldn't have taken part anyway), no swag tossing, no booing, no booze, just kidding about that last one.
Bubba Watson is the headliner? This week, see above, he's ranked at number four in the OWGR. He's joined by Jordan Spieth and Matt Kuchar from the top 10. Seventeen other players from the top 50 fill out Category A and lead Category B. Tiger's the lowest ranked player in the top 50 at 47. Phil Mickelson will be hoping for an early finish; last time the World Throwball final was in Arizona he ended up givng his tickets away to a Dad with a young son to go instead. 83 players are providing value to the OWGR points on offer for this event, for more detail see the OWGR threads that GPB, Robopz, et al contribute to.
There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one. There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category. Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus. It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.
This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES
Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:
Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).
If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.
Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.
Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligble for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores. If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.
Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply. Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.
Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.
Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.
All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Each event is a one off as such Kwini, but there'll be a league table coming soon; the first one will come after this event. I split the season into 3 sessions so people don't lose interest if someone gets too far in front or if they miss the odd event. There's also an overall league table for Fantasy Leaguer of the year.

First tee times in Phoenix 7:30am, 2:30 in the UK so there's still plenty of time for picks to be made.

Erik Compton suffering from gout, reportedly, and may not make the Phoenix starting line.
Those of you with Compton may wish to reconsider picks and reserves for that category. If he withdraws before it starts your reserve, if you picked one, will take his place. If he withdraws during the round that's tough.
Beninho, you may want to add a reserve just in case.

Yes, Well. Don't suppose any of us except perhaps you, Mac, have much clue about what Compton has to stick in his body to retain some health after what he's been through. Who knows what side effects he might have?

Just the 61 players picked by us a Fantasy Leaguers but due to darkness 5 of them didn't get to finish. The final groups will resume in the morning.
5 picks are within the top 5 positions including Ryan Palmer who currently has the low round. Pedro, Raycastleunited, and TheCleaver are looking good for additional bonus points. McLaren and I are suffering from LPRPitis. Daniel Berger could tie or take low round if he makes at least one birdie over his final two holes and that will make SetupDetermines' day.

He may have escaped on Thursday but, if Woods maintains his current pace, anyone who chose him will hit the "worst score" jackpot - getting very ugly out there, and on course for his worst Tour round.

The first round finished on day two as darkness prevented the players from finishing. With 61 picks made out of a field of 132 the Fantasy Leaguers saw some great play, some good play, some mediocre play, some poor play, and some god awful play. Ryan Palmer, Daniel Berger, Bubba Watson, Keegan Bradley, and Martin Laird showed some great play as Palmer finished with the first round low score and the others shot 65 and 66 to make the Top 5 Low Round scores. Three Fantasy Leaguers picked Palmer; Pedro, Raycastleunited, and TheCleaver. All three backed Palmer up with more picks in the top 5. Pedro and Raycastleunited had another two and TheCleaver had one. McLaren had three picks in the top 5 and he joins TheCleaver just off of the lead. Six Fantasy Leaguers had two picks score points, seven Fantasy Leaguers had one pick score points, and three are still to get off the mark.
Michael Hopper had the worst round with a 81.

Re: Fantasy League 2015 - Winter/Spring Session - Event #03
Due to time constraints I will be posting an unofficial second round leaderboard shortly. This makes assumptions that Koepka, Perez, and Molinari make the cut and Fathauer and Hicks do not. This also assumes there will be no change to the low and high round scores from Chappell and Woods.

Barring a late second round collapse this morning from either Pat Perez or Francesco Molinari three Fantasy Leaguers are looking at the perfect set. I'mNeverWrong has both of those players so he could be more vulnerable than Pedro and TheCleaver who each have Perez. With the perfect set Pedro jumps out at the front of the pack, he's closely followed by TheCleaver; I'mNeverWrong will be in third place.
Phil Mickelson broke the perfect set in Category A and that ruins Kwinigolfer's hope of the full set. Beninho was the next closest as he had Kyle Stanley who missed the cut by one shot. A late swap of Erik Compton for Brooks Koepka helped too. Seven Fantasy Leaguers have seven picks left earning one or two cut bonuses. Three have six picks left and five have five picks left. Some of these eight didn't earn a cut bonus.
Tiger Woods was a gamble and for seven Fantasy Leaguers there was a small payoff. His second round of 82 was one of his worst ever professional rounds was the worst by some margin. Kevin Chappell shot 65 for the round of the day and a number of Fantasy Leaguers are rueing the dropped shot on 18 by Martin Laird who would have tied him but for that.
