Southampton should have had two blatant penalties in the first five minutes.

I really am getting fed up with yet another week of poor officiating in the Premiership. Gets worse and worse each season to the point of worrying standard now.

Also, Vertonghen should have been sent off earlier too. Game is a bit of a joke at the moment, too many old refs who havent improved or have gone backwards

This refereeing lark is easy you just ignore everything that happens in the game.

Do you not think it would good for youth footballers who get released from PL clubs to train as refs Sure they can go down the leagues and work their way up but would give them a different route to stay in football if wanted to.

What does a PL ref get paid with days?
The answer is probably there, Nando.

Refs are rubbish everywhere, too many slow motion replays about, too easy to blame. Once you build up a reputation it's hard to shake.

Kevin Friend is having a nightmare today. Worse than Martin Atkinson yesterday without a shadow of a doubt. People say referee's in modern football are as good as they ever have been? Yes sure they have and this weekend has been proof that they are not near the standard they should be. Terrible first 45 minutes from Friend.
Can't fault the goal though. Absolutely top class strike from Coutinho, nobody is stopping that.
Southampton have been extremely unlucky, but their quality in front of goal just hasn't been good enough and Koeman needs to remind his players of that, regardless of the decisions gone against his side there.

More I see that first one it would have been extremely soft, he's made the refs mind up with the way he's gone down effectively. Good points with the hand ball deflecting on the hand, see defenders get away with that all the time.

Southampton jut ran out of ideas. Pelle just offered nothing throughout, wasn't involved in very much and was poor like Southampton on the day.

Ah the obsession continues.
Not saying this cos its Villa your on about.
For me, wanting a team to go downis kind of sad. Still upset we sacked Lambert. We have played rubbish this season and probably deserve to go down, but being that desperate for a team you have no affiliation to, to want to go down. Hmm not sure about that.
When Blues went down i had a bit of banter with my blues mates, but left it there.
Hoping we play better football with Sherwood and stay up.
All good though Olly each to their own.
If we do go down, will look forward to the 6points we take off you.

I want to see teams that bring something to the table to the premier league. Villa don't bring anything, thus want them to go. Get a team like derby or Bournemouth in there who at least play entertaining football

Well hopefully now that Lambert has gone, Sherwood can get us playing better.
I cant see Bournemouth being that entertaining next season if they come up.
For their sake if they do come up I hope they prove me wrong.
What about Norwich?

Bournemouth will be dog****, when they were pumped for a woeful 'at that time' Liverpool in the Capital One, they got absolutely mullered. They can play entertaining football in the Championship, different story in the PL. There are alot of teams who bring very little to the PL, harsh to single out Villa.

The different between Bournemouth & other championships is that their 50% owned by a Russian Oil Billionaire. So they atleast have the funds to strengthen if they go up

Everyone who's in the PL at the moment deserves to be there based on the fact they all got there.
Just cause another club has more fans, plays more attractive football, has a better ground does not mean they should get an automatic pass.
One of the daftest arguments you see all the time.

Lets not forget we beat Bournemouth and we're rubbish.
I know John, there have been alot of rubbish teams in the prem over the years. Just the way it goes.
The thing for me as a Villa fan its sad to see how far we have fallen.
Eurpoean cup winners.
First season of the prem, runners up to Utd,
Constant top half finishes.
Won the carling cup in 94 & 96.
If we go, we go.
I'm getting married at the end of August, I said to my fiancee that I would be one miserable bugger all summer if we do go down.
Agree with you Derbymanc.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Amazingly, from 3-7th one point separate each of those teams in each of those positions. Arsenal at 3rd with 48th, United 4th with 47, Southampton 5th with 46, LFC 6th with 45, and Spurs 7th with 44. Remaining fixtures you would say that Southampton and Spurs have it the easiest. Arsenal's remaining doesn't look too bad either. LFC's is pretty tough and United's is probably the hardest road left to tread. In a 5 game stretch they face LFC and Chelsea on the road and City and Spurs at home. Very tough from the middle of march to the middle of April.
The the gunners go into old Trafford at the second to last game of the year. I hope we win and knock them out of the top 4 it would be so sweet. Although they could be out of it before then. Not that Arsenal wins a lot of matches at OT. Still that would be wonderful. Basically the 3-7 spots are really up for grabs. Hopefully Arsenal finishes in the top 4 with anyone other than United or Spurs joining us in the CL next year.

Chelsea are appealing against the red card and in fairness it was a shocking tackle....
But If you allow retaliation here then you must allow it in other circumstances as well..
Not a hope in hell............

Some of the stuff he came up with prior to Swansea was comical. Post Swansea, the stuff he was saying was laughable & delusional. He said 'we created a chance every two minutes in the second half of the Swansea game & dominated', yet United had only three shots on target all game. Everyone can see he's lost it, embarrassing the reaction to Allardyce too. No progression, if anyone looks out of his depth, it looks like LVG. People can bang on about 'look at his CV' blah, blah, blah. I've interviewed hundreds of people & they might have impressive CV's, yet put them in at the deep end & they fall to pieces. LVG looks lost & having been at the helm for over seven or eight months, he looks bereft of any actual ideas.
