No doubt another conspiracy theory coming up............
Yeah, tough titties I'm afraid. The red Matic red was the correct decision.
I think they're appealing on the basis that Routledge got his red for retaliation at QPR rescinded. However, I think Routledge slipped and that made it look a lot worse than it was, very different from what Matic did. If the FA deem it as frivalous appeal then they could tack on extra games.

Westy,
Just in case you don't know (as it would have been before your time), the Villa side which won the European Cup had more than a fair bit of talent plus masses of spirit and strength. Incredible in this day and age to recall that when you won the League the year before in '81, Villa only used 14 players the entire season.
You've obviously fallen since those days but I think you'll escape the drop this year. Considering how few goals you've scored, it's amazing you're not in a worse position. That suggests teams at least aren't running all over you and how poor the others in and around the drop zone must be. If Sherwood can instil some confidence, the goals and points should start to come. Good luck!

Is that because the ref saw the incident? How he did and not issue a card is beyond me, mind.

The problem is the ref was behind the incident so he saw it but not the seriousness of it

Yeah that's the hole in FIFAs law. Nothing the FA can do.
Still don't think its that bad mind, don't think there's much intent

Doesn't matter if there is intent or not, awful challenge, late & definitely dangerous. Should of been banned, ridiculous stuff all this he's seen it, hasn't seen it nonsense or what's written in the report & what's not. Get rid of this nonsense bureaucracy & ban players properly for justifiably dangerous challenges, otherwise people will continue to get away with it.

How was it late when Barnes got to the ball about 2 seconds before Matic? People are also acting like its a tackle, if you watch the video, Barnes passes the ball and its the follow through that then catches Matic, can't call it an awful challenge based on that either.

I think it's about time referees started booking Chelsea players for surrounding the referee on every available occasion........
Not their fault they are obviously told to by the Son of God...........but it's blatant attempted bullying of officials....

Personally I found the one on Ivanovic to be a worse foul, the one on Matic had no intent and occurred because of a follow through, the one on Ivanovic was a blatant kick and had intent to hurt.

Just seen that Burnley are top of the Premier League fair play chart with 0 red cards and 46 yellow cards They're one of two teams not to have a player sent off; Stoke are the other one.
Suppose it's not surprising if the referee fails to referee....

Cheers guildford.
Yeah was only a very young lad when we won the european cup.
I know only 13 goals scored you would think we would be a few points adrift at the foot of the table.
We'll see in the remaining 12 games what the players are made of.

I'd fancy the top scorers in the Football League pyramid this season to be quite entertaining if they went up myself but each to their own, Howe is also a good young manager.westisbest wrote:Well hopefully now that Lambert has gone, Sherwood can get us playing better.
I cant see Bournemouth being that entertaining next season if they come up.
For their sake if they do come up I hope they prove me wrong.
What about Norwich?
We'd need serious strengthening if we come up

What they are saying if you think you've had a bad tackle you may shove them over and get a 2 game ban not 3.

Haven't got a 20 goal a season striker? What are you paying over a half a million in wages a week on in Rooney, RVP and Falcao then?!

You've lumped a lot of faith and money on Falcao who hadn't shown he had recovered from his injuries. Sadly it he looks half the striker he once was.

I said Falcao was past it before he left Atletico. He had his 2-3 top seasons and that's it for most players. His injury will mask the fact his decline started before he even played a game for Monaco.

Well if you stick rooney or RVP up front with matta behind- you have a 20 goal a league striker. Man U need better than average midfielders..

There's being past it in your movement, but the chances he is missing are basic and things that even at Monaco he would have scored in his sleep. Some you would expect non league players to score, he just seems to lack any faith in his ability.

The kind of chances that Owen and Solskjaer were still slotting away with ease having had far more injury setbacks, I think it's a lack of confidence more than anything. Whoever buys him in the Summer will benefit from mollycoddling him.
Carrick is back so we'll see an upsurge in our performances and results, if only other fans realised how good he actually is.

What a load of nonsense. Very easy to sit there & say that now.
09/10 - 34 goals - Porto
10/11 - 38 goals - Porto
11/12 - 36 goals - Atletico
12/13 - 34 goals - Atletico (you're saying he was declining during this point in time, having scored 34 in 41 games at the age of just 27?)
13/14 - 9 goals in 17 apps, then injured - Monaco
Although I agree, Falcao isn't the same player, United's creativity has been woeful, if not non-existent, hence the issues in goal scoring for all three of United's top strikers.

Yes he was. Not as evident as now but you could see. I'm not sure if it was on here but I did mention it when he was linked to Chelsea in the 2013 summer window that his best years were behind him.

Re: Falcao
I did say during the transfer season (the July one) that he was a risky acquisition when he was linked with Madrid, simply because he was a 28-year old coming back from knee surgery. Never great to be right about great/really good players being cut in their prime, but I just wanna take this moment to tell Gerry I told him so.
