Churchy reckons that if you bowl really well on this pitch you can bowl a side out cheaply... Oh well that rules out Surrey then unless we get a generous declaration.....
Maynard out going for quick runs...

Re: CC Derbys Away or Call Up for Corporal's Protege
Gadzooks, 350 odd all out.
Quite tricky for Derbys to judge things from here. As shown today, our batting can rapidly fall apart but several can score very quickly.
Will Matthew 'Clive' Dunn bowl some short stuff tonight? They don't like it up 'em!

Re: CC Derbys Away or Call Up for Corporal's Protege
Thanks to the Viscount and Clive we are on top and can dare to think of our second CC win this season.
Credit also to our main batsmen who earlier in the day made decent runs in double quick time to keep the game alive. That was in contrast to our late middle order and tail who not only failed to wag but fell away completely.
We will still have to play well tomorrow. Those hardly involved so far will need to turn up for the conclusion of this party. Batty will need to produce some of those 'mystery' balls, Jewell will need at least a semi- sparkling performance and Jordan will need to, aherm, do something!

Well well well, I disappeared and hour early last night to take my nephew to see X-Men, with a draw seemingly certain as we batted on past 350, only to discover our 'weak' attack wreaking havoc...........and now Derby are 5 down!

Get in! 'Clive' has 'Dunn' it again - 6 down and 4 for the boy now - they certainly don't like it up them!

Goochie - the only bad thing about this for me is that I'm desperately trying to submit some invoices to 'Woking Salt Mines Ltd' and keep getting pulled back to Archbishop Church on the radio!
Guildford and his family may starve but at least we'll have another win - won't we, Goochie?

Hi Guildford
Does Churchy say if the pitch has deteriorated, or are lads bowling brilliantly? Put the invoice processing on hold til lunch!!

Re: CC Derbys Away or Call Up for Corporal's Protege
Goochie - well Dunn certainly isn't a 'stupid boy' to continue the Dad's Army references!
Churchy hasn't used the term 'deteriorated' (maybe he's too polite) but he has just said 'the pitch is offering a lot to the bowlers' and 'any target will be difficult'.
He's also been very complimentary about the Viscount and Clive.
Meanwhile, Jordan has just bowled a no ball!

Jordan gets a wicket! 'Not the best delivery you'll ever see but Luke Sutton couldn't resist and got a thick outsize edge' - Churchy.
127 is the lead. One wicket to get ....

Re: CC Derbys Away or Call Up for Corporal's Protege
Jordan going at his normal 7 an over - even bowling against a number 10!
Oh he's got him now though!!
So Guildford, do we reckon 150 ish is going to be a difficult target? Surely our top 6 can get that??

Re: CC Derbys Away or Call Up for Corporal's Protege
Well I'm back from the Big Apple, knackered and with some rather excellent tan lines!
I don't know, I go away for a few days and Surrey suddenly learn how to bowl! Quite ironic that Dernbach gets called up on the back of 2 poor performances to be replaced by Dunn who immediately repays the Corporals faith in him with a five-for. The viscount really is starting to step up the plate with his wickets which is excellent to see.

All out! Ten in the match for the Viscount - honours and biscuits to him!
Clive leads the team off.
142 to win. I really feel we can knock these runs off. The pitch will clearly be difficult but several of our frontline batsmen - particularly Le Roi - are rapid scorers which should greatly help if they can just stay in for a while ....
I'll stick my neck out and predict a 6 wicket win!

Just 67 left required for the win after the 20/20 openers, things should calm down a bit now one would think with the old heads at the crease.
And that's lunch.
