Murrays next opponent is mannarino who is playing very good stuff. I doubt Murray can live with the sheer explosivity of this French titan in my humble opinion!!
Federer will get his revenge on the Italian Berdych, the AO rewarded pushing afterall which IW will not

Josiah- Murray has an excellent record against French players. Agree about Fed-Seppi, though. Doubt whether the Italian can pull off another shock.

Re: The Indian Wells Masters 1000 Thread
Perhaps if Federer had decided to take Seppi seriously at the AO and decided that he wanted to not make a million errors, the pusher wouldnt have won. On that note I therefore do expect Roger to come out and play properly from the start this time and ease in straights.

Mannarino does not have the same style as other French counterparts, this match will expose Murray imho.
Seppi would've lost to a 50% Federer the last time they met it just happened to be he was far less than 50%!

Mannarino is of similar style to Murray. Hes very much typically a counterpuncher, except his serve isnt all that strong, his return is much weaker and he generally doesnt have the power and placement of Murray. In fact he reminds me a lot of a slightly weaker Simon. He'll have to play very much out of type to beat Muzz.

I would like to add though that I very much don't wish to discredit Seppi in any way. He was excellent at the AO and he played very flat and aggressive if you saw the match. Federer should have been a match for it, but I dont think its ever fair to take away credit from an underdog when they pull off the upset.

Yes, Ferrer has, but Tomic played a very patient rally match, compared to his older gung-ho aggressive match. The 3 titles have taken their toll. Very rarely have I seen Tomic push and play defensive and wait for opponent errors. Very atypical Tomic, IMO.

Rosol beats Haase, crazy match, up and down, all over, but sure Rosol deserves to be gifted a Masters just cause of his Global trashing of Nadal

This Nadal v Young match is one of the lowest quality match I have ever seen.

Forehand winners/UE:
Nadal 3/14
Young 3/19
Rafa a set and 4/1 up but he would be losing to anyone half-decent on this display.

These courts suit dull servebots like Raonic perfectly. His second serve rears up so much that even a player as talented as Dolgo is finding it impossible to deal with. Djoko v Isner will be very interesting to watch.

Federer struggling badly v Seppi, but hangs in to get the first set. Very strange FH/BH errors.

I cant say any of the big boys are playing well at the moment must be something in the water But they are lucky that their opposition is not playing much better either !!!

Isner has beaten Djokovic here in 2012 in a close match but lost in 2014 in an easy third set 6-1.

Was very surprised in Nadal v Young earlier. Wawrinka's loss and then Rosol (server-bot?) out-muscling Hasse.

Rafa ????!!!!!! That match was simply appalling.. strangely he always has difficulty in playing a fellow lefty but heh..cmon it doesn't get much worse than that.. I cannot see what will happen against Simon if he plays like that...Robredo is the man for me at the moment.. Rock on Tommy

Re: The Indian Wells Masters 1000 Thread
Rafa's day and night matches are really 'day'and 'night', so much differences! I think he struggled with the wind, the ball, whatever. Fed too complained about the balls, saying it's difficult to control the ball when trying to put some spins on them. None of the top three looked impressive so far, Murray too was so on and off even within a match. It seems that only the big servers are not struggling with the conditions, balls, etc.

Important is Isner to kick the lights out of Djoko, who has already complained that he has some foot problems, so Djoko has an alibi if he loses.

His backhand is cool but his forehand hurts my eyes.
It would be just like Isner (after losing to a guy who's not even top 50) to hold his own and catch Djokovic on a bad day. Come on Jisner

Tomic vs Kokkinakis is a nice one for this round. Tomic has actually looked in good nick this year so far, going deep in most tournaments.
If K wins, he's the first teenager to reach a Masters QF since Cilic in 2008. That is a truly damning and depressing statistic.
Fed and Nadal could easily lose to Berdych and Raonic respectively unless they pick it up. Murray looking good so far.

Seeing all the top 10 S&V 50% of a match is more probable than me being upset at a Fed defeat at this stage in his career Can certainly see Berdych enjoying a potential meeting with Fed

I actually really like Tommys forehand, I think tis because he has to put all his body into it and as such looks acrobatic. Also shades Tommy is a very cool look.

I think Tommy is very underrated he is a really nice guy and he has proven to be a real stalwart of the Spanish Armada ..
Nice to think he can still perform with such calm and grace against the younger guns. And now Feli also in his 30's takes the first set against Nishi... come on Feli

Nishi is a real talent but he has far too many 3 setters.
They can build up and really hurt him in the later stages of tournies.

He is going to be lucky to get a three setter. Feli is playing some really intelligent tennis and why Nishi choses to pummel Lopez' bh I cant imagine.. he has one of the best back hands in the game.. his fh however is somewhat suspect.

Was that sarcastic?
Lopez doesn't have a bh, bar the slice.
His fh is his groundstroke weapon after his serve.

No nearly every error Lopez has made is on his forehand. Did you watch his last two errors? Im not in the habit of being sarcastic

In his career no way is his shbh (which he rarely ever uses as he favours the slice) better than his fh.

Re: The Indian Wells Masters 1000 Thread
I would disagree that Lopez's shbh is one of the best. Its definitely more solid than his fh but on virtue of almost exclusively slicing it. As good as his slice is his bh drive looks awkward and is fairly poor.
