Crikey. Sky showing that a Federer BH in Dubai bounces nearly 70cm lower than IW and that the courts at IW play 40% slower than Dubai!!

Hes serving at 60% 1st serve Roger, which is OK, but hes losing almost every point when it doesnt get a clean winner.

Federer can't win in these conditions against Djokovic. He needs a fast court or for the weather to warm up.

I guess in the end we cant complain about conditions, Fed had the fast one in Dubai, and clay wont be any kinder. Hes gonna have to deal.

We can complain. The whole point is the lack of fast courts in comparison with slow courts. It's not to the benefit of Federer I want to see more fast courts, but for the rest of the field too.

Its the same as Pete had to deal with, things slowing down and he had to be more aggressive/net suicidal for it. It would be fine if Miami was speedy, a slow hc is worthy of its place, sadly Miami is hilariously slow, which leads to the imbalance

Brutal first set.  Nole playing very very solid, Roger not so much.  Roger will need to try to come to the net more, but it will be very hard to execute here.

Then again lets not entirely blame the court. Federer isnt serving that great yet, and hes playing poorly, whilst Novak looks impregnable. This would be tough on a fast hc too.

I like that Federer is playing on the front foot, there's no point just arsing around at the back and waiting to lose. The score is emphatic but at least the points are explosive, this would be a good match at Cincinnati.

too many people blaming the court. Djokovic is winning because Federer's first serve percentage is too low, and Djokovic is destroying his second serve. Federer is also not returning well enough, missing far too many returns. Too good so far from Djokovic, sometimes you have to aknowledge that.

I think it's painfully obvious that it's more to do with the court. Federer can't get the required pace on all of his shots. His backhand is more of a liability and the net rushes are gonna get picked off more. He can't use his slice well here too.

Agreed, this could be a varnish court and the scoreline would be the same right now. Feds beaten Novak at the FO, and Novaks a 2 time wimby winner, and beat him at basel. Court isnt a huge factor between them.

I see Petchey still trying the "Federer is better than ever" twaddle. For Gods sake, Novak is brilliant, there's no need for hyperbole every match.

Sorry but that's nonsense. Aren't you watching heavy shots bouncing like sludge? Federer trying to over hit to get anything through?

Djokovic is playing great. On a faster court this would be very competitive.

Oh for sure it would be more competitive, but the court doesnt make roger miss a load of first serves, or return poorly. Novak isnt overhitting, in fact hes striking it very aggressively. Roger needs to look at how Novaks doing it, he cant always hope for a zippy court.

A higher more wilder bounce will cause shanks and not allow him to an effective slice into play. I think looking at the record lately and in the years to come the court is coming to be a factor. Wimby is pretty slow now anyway.
