£35,000 ringside for Manny v May
Wooh............Hate to see an accidental head clash after 30 seconds of the first round for that kind of slap !!............
No event in the World is worth that kind of money........I spent £1000 on two Rolling stones tickets a couple of years ago and we were pretty close to the front...

It's worth it if you're someone to whom £35,000 means very little, which I imagine will pretty much sum up everyone in those seats. By definition, almost.

I don't that price is worth it for any sporting event but if people are going to pay it then it shows what I think is pants
Doubt any of us on here will be going unless Hampo or Adam can sweet talk the promoters (we all know they get them freebies )

It's all relative though: someone who earns 35 mil a year spending 35k on a ticket is the equivalent of someone who earns 35,000 spending £35. (Very simplistic way of looking at it but it sort of puts it in perspective)

The worst thing will be the $100 US PPV.
EDIT: Was a guess but is actually the amount they are charging.

Can't please some people, biggest event for years and of course prices will be high. You're all still going to buy the PPV (be it by yourself or having mates round etc) so quit whining!
Festival tickets cost some obscene amount to camp with a bunch of smelly, muddy gobshites. I'd rather pay 1k for seats than most other tickets. RWC is a silly amount but I along with hundreds of thousands of others still applied.
Basic supply and demand. Get over it.

You have to either be pig ignorant or live in a fantasy world to even begin to believe that the prices for this fight are anything approaching reasonable...
Given the amount of stuff i've seen posted regards Hearn PPV model and the prices for that, this surely must irk people just as much..
On the one hand people say ''£15 is a joke for Clev v Bellew....PPV should be saved for special fights and meaningful true title fights etc etc''
Well this is exactly that, yet were being charged $100 (I say we...the Americans, no price announced for Britain yet)....so if you agree with this pricing simply because it's the biggest event in years then surely there is nothing wrong with Hearn (or anyone other promoter for that matter) charging £15 for a low end PPV....? By all accounts what's now being suggested is a ppv price structure based on the quality of fight headlining said PPV..
Playing devils advocate I know...but essentially by people forking out the prices being asked for this fight, everyone who does so only has themselves to blame if 5 years from now we have a murky PPV model throughout boxing
$20 for Fringe Contender vs Young Talent
$50 for World Champion vs Mandatory
$75 for World Champ vs World Champ
$100 for P4P fighter vs P4P fighter
I expected nothing else but the prices with regards tickets, being Vegas and all was always going to be silly prices, doesn't make it right. The major problem isn't that celebs etc are going..it's that because 70% or even more of the tickets will go to sponsors, celebs, entourage, etc...those left are in such short supply the prices for them are naturally driven up to astronomical amounts.

Comparing Bellew v Cleverly to Mayweather v Pacquiao? Nice.

Re: £35,000 ringside for Manny v May
I'm comparing the arguments made with regards to such a PPV...
When that was made people complained it wasn't a PPV fight and PPV should only be reserved for special fights....now this fight, which granted is the biggest of our generation, has been made....the goalposts have changed and suddenly PPV isn't enough, the price should naturally be higher because it's two special fighters.
Lets be clear on this, whilst the fight is absolutely massive...it would have been bigger 4-6 years ago...also anyone actually stopped to think that part of the problem we have is a fight such as this is so big in our day and age because they happen so infrequently..
The 1980's had 10x more 'once in a generation' fights than we've had....part of the reason this is so 'special' is merely because boxing has become so pathetic at getting the very best in divisions (let alone in around same divisions) together.

For £35,000 I'd expect to be allowed a few digs on Bieber.

For 35,000 I'll expect you'd be sitting close enough to get a few in....question is do you mind prison?
Re: £35,000 ringside for Manny v May
I don't agree that the fight would have been 'bigger' as such 4-6 years ago, Owen. More signifficant, definitely but I think the fight will be more hyped and lucrative now than ever.

Ha, touché Scott. I'll admit, when choosing my user name I thought of the Rocky film reference without even considering the butt love connotations. I'm sticking with it though

Bellew v Cleverly was a joke shop ppv. Doesnt even bear commentary compared to Mayweather v Pacquiao.
If ppv was reserved only for the biggest fights, they would happen more often because thats the only way the top names could get the mega pay days. When Mayweather can charge 70 dollars for facing Marcos Maidana or Hearn starts flogging domestic levels fights as ppv - thats where the problem lies.

Can't argue there; makes it worse though....were talking about a once in a generation fight...which actually doesn't hold the significance (purely legacy wise) that it should have...
Also I absolutely hate all of this talk about it being the richest sports event in history...the richest fight ever etc etc. Of course it will be! Your charging $35,000 for seats and $100 for PPV!
Pacman and Floyd are laughing all the way to the bank, and to boot they milked every cent they could get for 4 years before 'giving the fans what they want'.. footballers and the like get trashed day in day out for wages etc, these two however take the absolute biscuit.

5 years ago there would have been endless threads on this, predictions threads etc. There are hardly any. I was getting more texts from people wondering if they may sign than I did when they eventually did. I think public interest has gone way down, Pacquiao's stock has after more losses and they aren't seen as in their prime now. Inflation might help but I think it would have been a lot bigger a few years ago. I think the coverage has been quite muted.
Inflation may help it be more lucrative, but adjusted for that I think it would have made far more a few years ago.

I was thinking that your pricing scale for PPV was a fair point Owen, until I realised that even at bottom end for $20 we were short changed for Clev v Bellew. Who's the fringe contender and who's the young talent out of those two? There needs to be a PPV based on a "Yo Mamma" type spats for $2.95.

Re: £35,000 ringside for Manny v May
Actually £35k is considerably cheaper than the figures Boxing News was quoting last week.
Cheapest seat - $5k, a seat at ring level but not ringside - $45k, ringside they weren't even quoting a price but apparently you needed a $250k credit line with the MGM to be able to buy one.
Absolute madness but then this is boxing.
The worst thing is that it will be held @ the MGM Grand which only seats 16000 whereas it should be in a stadium watched by 50000+. The second worst thing is that it will be held in Vegas at all, although all the big fights take place there now it's not exactly renowned for it's knowledgeable fans.

You do need $250k of credit to be able to purchase a ringside seat, the the numbers are pretty much spot on, you're just forgetting about the conversion rate.

Despite being totally loaded I wouldn't pay all that money to watch Poochio get slapped around for 12 rounds. I have nothing against Floyd but he needs to stop ducking Khan who will take his '0'
