Cunningham v Glazkov is an interesting one. I'm backing Glazkov though it's been a while since I've seen him in action.

5 minutes in to the broadcast and Carl Froch and "trenches" have been mentioned in the same sentence.

I don't know. An hour or so from now I'd guess. Kovalev looks thinner than usual to me. Maybe it's just me...

Fair play, Pascal was gone 50 seconds in to that round and did well to not only finish but recover.

Pascal is one resilient mofo.
I don't think Kovalev lacks physical toughness, however he looks mentally uncomfortable, like he's just not used to being hit back.

Re: Tonights action SPOILERS
If Pascal stopped telegraphing his punches he'd have a lot more success, but he's winding them up so much that Kovalev is gone by the time he throws them.

So, can anyone beat Kovalev? You're going to need speed, power, a granite chin and a water tight defence

Think you're certainly going to need all four to beat this man bud. Haha, the only way that happens is if GGG gets him down to middleweight.

Just caught up with the fight on +. Wow, what a chin Pascal has, almost superhuman to stand up to some of those shots.
Not 100% convinced on Kovs chin though, thought he looked like he could get timed coming in.
Froch anyone?!

No he shouldn't, he was seriously hurt and it was only going to get worse, his legs had gone completely, which fight were you watching???
A very impressive display by Krusher, although he showed that he's not that difficult to hit, be interesting to see him in with someone that can sustain a work rate (& avoid Kov's punches obviously).
Pascal has a seriously great set of whiskers, no LH in the world could stand up to those punches - is there anyone out there with the movement to avoid them though? Stevenson?

Re: Tonights action SPOILERS
Good bout, the 2 preceding were awful and I whizzed through them (watched half of the Cunningham fight).
A good main event though and thought Kov stood up to some decent punches. Stoppage was definitely fair with Pascal out on his feet.

Think Herman's having a wind up, KC.
Agreed Derby. Pascal didn't seem to have his faculties about him and had taken enough heavy shots. Obviously as a professional he wants to carry on but the decision, rightly taken away from him.

Fair enough.
Saw it on a stream.
Fortunately I sky+'d it, looking forward to watch it on a clear picture and I'll probably change my mind.

Re: Tonights action SPOILERS
Impressive performance from Kovalev, as expected. He's putting good fighters on the back foot from the first bell due to his power. It seems like once they get hit all they can muster after are wild, hopeful swings.
That being said, I still think (and even more so now) that Stevenson has a great chance against him. From the southpaw stance Stevenson should be able to time the Kovalev jab before he leaves the straight right go.
A fast, powerful counter puncher will be the man to beat Kovalev. That's Stevenson for me but either way it'll be over early.

Re: Tonights action SPOILERS
Scored it to Cunningham pleasantly suprised Glazkov got the decision, how many times has he been in contentious decisions now? Kovalev getting the KO earned me £90. So a good night.
Awesome fight though, as someone who bet on Kov for the KO I was questioning everything in the 5th where Pascal started his comeback.

Kov wanted it, Stevo didn't (despite any noises me might have made). For me, that means he didn't fancy his chances. Not definite of course, but Stevo put the obstacles in the way.

Way too simplistic argument............Fighters unless they are stupid are into risk and reward........
The North Americans are anyway................Probably not the case for dumb Eastern Europeans..
Probably one of the reasons Kennedy p**sed all over khrushchev and Reagan battered Gorbachov.........Because these people are dumb !!

Sometimes the best defence in any debate is to trot out a variation of the line "It's not that simple"... But sometimes it just is that simple. Not saying Stevo can't beat Kov, but I think he'd rather not find out. If we are talking risk vs reward then Stevo obviously believes his risk is greater than Kov thinks his risk is.
I'll ignore the silly nationality stuff.

Re: Tonights action SPOILERS
Americans may not have the greatest sense of irony, but the Reagan Gorbachev comments suggests that living over here for a while has given truss a rudimentary understanding of the concept.
I think stevenson knows he's on to a winner picking up pay cheques in front of a loving home crowd, and wouldn't want to put it on the line until he has to. Hopefully, with their beloved pascal taking a beating the Canadian public will want stevenson to right the wrong. I recall stevenson calling out froch claiming he wanted to avenge bute. Maybe he'll do the same now.
Or maybe not.
Hope they get it together, crusher starts favourite and stevenson's whiskers are obviously a concern but he's a very big punching lefty and a better boxer than some give credit to. Certainly a fight I'd like to see.
