The old 1-2 punch from Beninho saw him storm the leaderboard and condemn 1GrumpyGolfer to follow in the footsteps of third round leaders on the PGA Tour.  Beninho had five picks score finish points and added the two low round shooters to put the icing on the cake.  McLaren also had five picks score points but could only muster a worst round shooter.  This was enough to sneak past 1GrumpyGolfer who had just three picks score points.  BlueCoverman, I'm Never Wrong, and TheCleaver all had four picks score points and they rounded out the next three spots on the leaderboard and, in that order too.  Davie, Incontinentia, and RedRage all had three picks score points.  Pedro had just two but it was enough to secure a top 10 finish.  Sand also had three score points but they weren't of the same quality.  CJB, EmmDee57, Hibbz, Kouchi, Kwinigolfer, SetupDetermines, and Super_Realist all had two picks of varying quality score points.  Barragan, Boyhyde, and LadyPutt each had one pick score points.  The picks that played all four rounds for SirBenson were in midtable obscurity but that doesn't score any points.

Matt Every shot 66 winning the tournament by birdieing the last.  Zach Johnson also shot 66 but dropped shots on his last two holes after holing out for albatross on the par 5 16th.  Beninho had both of these.  Keegan Bradley and Cheeson Hadley finished badly with 77s.  They were picked by a bunch of Fantasy Leaguers but Davie should get kudos or commiserations for picking both of them.  See below for the full list.  Freddie Jacobson finished in last place at +3.  No one picked him.

The final event of the Florida swing sees the Tour pay homage to Arnold Palmer at his winter home in Orlando, Florida.  Arnie has invited friends, family, and some old timer(s) to join him for his little shindig.  In all eight former champions are in attendance with Matt Every returning to defend his crown.  All four international winners are taking part with Ernie Els the only one of the four to win more than one.  Rod Pampling, Vijay Singh, and most recently Martin Laird are the other three.  Tim Herron, Chad Campbell, and Robert Gamez are the other three former champions.

Top 5 is in action, sorry not Patrick Reed, I meant the top 5 in the World are all playing. They're the only top tenners but it's still a very reasonable field with just over half of the top 50 playing.  Eight time winner Tiger Woods is missing just his third Arnold Palmer Invitational.  88 players are providing value to the OWGR points on offer for this event, for more detail see the OWGR threads that GPB, Robopz, et al contribute to.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligble for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament. However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Super coined his nickname of Pen1s-Shelf but he's not been dicking around out there, Jason Kokrak was among five players who shot 67 to get into the Top 5 Low Round Scores. He was joined by another polarising figure in Ian Poulter. Ken Duke and Kevin Na were the other two picks to shoot 67. John Peterson also shot 67 but no one picked him. Morgan Hoffmann shot 66 to take the early lead at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Robert Streb and Rod Perry shot 79 for the worst rounds of the day.

Kokrak was selected by seven Fantasy Leaguers and Poulter by five. Four of those doubled down on the dicks. 1GrumpyGolfer, I'm Never Wrong, McLaren, and Pedro are the joint leaders. BlueCoverman, Davie, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver picked either Kokrak or Poulter. CJB picked Na and LadyPutt picked Duke. Beninho, suffering from LPRPitis, managed to pick two of the scorers in his three reserves. If your name has not been mentioned in the above then you didn't trouble the scorer.

The cut line fell at -2 and no one managed the full set.  Some were close and some were some distance away.  1GrumpyGolfer, Davie, and McLaren all have eight of their picks left. Twelve Fantasy Leaguers have seven picks left and two of them, Incontinentia and Kwinigolfer, earned two cut bonuses from their seven.  CJB, EmmDee57, and Hibbz have six picks left and EmmDee57 was the only one of the three to earn a cut bonus, and he got two!  LadyPutt, Sand, and SetupDetermines have five picks left and of that trio LadyPutt missed out on a cut bonus.  Super_Realist is left with just three picks.

There was some low scoring out there and Danny Lee was the best out there today as he shot 64. Hibbz earned bonus points from Lee's fine play.  Robert Gamez had a bad day with an 82.

Hi Grumps.
I could do with a little help here. What exactly means the part of the scoring table quoted above?  "Round 3" = "3rd Round" ??

I am also a bit confused because in round 1 there were not only points awarded for "worst round" and "low round" (-6, Hoffman), but also for the 5 second best scoring players, which you called "Top 5 low round scores". But in that case what about "Top 10 low round scores"? Don't they also earn points? In that case some of the -4's in round 1 would belong to that group of "Top 10 low round scores".

Fantasy League 2015 - Winter/Spring Session - Event #08 - Page 2 Empty Re: Fantasy League 2015 - Winter/Spring Session - Event #08

Post by 1GrumpyGolfer Sun 22 Mar 2015, 12:29 am

It means I'm an idiot, Kouchi.  I'll address the error first and then explain what it should be. A while back I tried to be clever in copying and pasting Round 1 details to edit for Round 3 results. I highlighted and wanted to replace Round 1 with Round 3. It didn't just change the highlighted section but all Round 1s. I didn't check as far as the bottom section with the rules. Thanks for bringing it to my attention; I'll change it back to read Round 1.

The Top 5 Low Round scores are the five lowest scores and ties. If a pick also shoots the Low Round score the points are doubled because it's the Low Round and by definition it's also in the Top 5 Low Round scores. If you have good picks you might get lucky and have one or more amongst them.

In round 2 points are scored for Low Round and Worst Round. Points are also earned for making the cut.

Round 3 is the same as Round 1 but more players can score points with it being the ten lowest scores and ties. The idea behind this is it gives more chances for points and possibly allows for those lower down the Fantasy League leaderboard to catch up and keep them interested.

In this event the -4s in round 1 were T7th and outside the Top 5. You can check the Rules from Event 5 as that's where I can find that they were last listed correctly but for the other events, 6 & 7, the intention is still Top 5 in Round 1 and Top 10 in Round 3 as that's how it's been scored for the last couple of years.

Hope this clears things up.

As it's Saturday the Salami Slab followed up his good play in Round 1 with the Low Round Score in Round 3.  Jason Kokrak shot 65 along with Kiradech Aphibarnrat.  The Top 10 Low Round Scores was -4 or lower and six other picks shot 68 or lower.  1GrumpyGolfer and BlueCoverman had three other picks join Kokrak in the points.  Beninho also had four picks score points but not Kokrak.  I'm Never Wrong, McLaren, Pedro, TheCleaver, and Davie all had three picks score points; Davie was the only one not to have Kokrak out of that group.  CJB, Incontinentia, Kouchi, Kwinigolfer, and RedRage had two picks score points.  All other Fantasy Leaguers, except one - sorry Hibbz, had one pick score points; Super_Realist was the other Fantasy Leaguer to have chosen Kokrak.

At the other end of the leaderboard it was a battle of the veteran USPGA winners to score the worst round.  Davis Love-III just pipped Vijay Singh to that score.  Love shot 77 and shares last place with Singh and another pick in William McGirt.

Thirteen picks are in the top 17 places and six others are within two shots of the top 20.  Looks like there will be plenty of points being awarded at the end of play tomorrow.
