Vern Cotter to Bordeaux, Gregor Townsend to Murrayfield?
Scottish Sun reporting that "big spending Bordeaux are going to test resolve of SRU" and make a move for Scotland Head Coach, Vern Cotter with Gregor Townsend being lined up for Scotland job.
It is an article from The Scottish Sun so its subscription only meaning that I can't post a link.
Thoughts on this very strange rumour?

Be a step backwards for Cotter in every sense but a financial one. If he wants to get the All Blacks job long-term he needs to leave a positive legacy with Scotland.
Wouldn't be that bad for Scotland though, Townsend would be arguably the better, more natural fit.

Here is the exact wording of the article.
FRENCH TARGET COTTER SWITCH, Exclusive by Andy Devlin.
Vern Cotter could be offered the chance of a quick-fire return to France- with Gregor Townsend next in line for the Scotland job.
Sunsport understands big spending Bordeaux could be poised to test the SRU's resolve.
Sources claim the Top14 side want the current Scotland coach to take charge of their title tilt immediately after this years Rugby World Cup. Cotter is less than 12 months into the 2yr deal he signed with BT Murrayfield chiefs last June.
He is highly respected and highly rated by a squad of players who have so far failed to deliver a single win in this years RBS 6N.
Cotter's family are also believed to have settled well in Scotland meaning that Bordeaux face an uphill task to try and tempt him back to France.
The Kiwi coach enjoyed a successful 7yr reign at Clermont Auvergne and depending on how well Scotland do at the World Cup, he may well feel as though he's taken the team as far as he can.
Big spending Bordeaux have already snapped up Wallabies star Adam Ashley-Cooper as well as New Zealand flanker Peter Saili.
Warriors head coach Townsend would be the man the SRU turned to if Cotter was to quit after the World Cup.
Toony has been a revelation in charge of Glasgow since replacing Sean Lineen as head coach there.

That would mean that Rafa Ibanez already accepted the french job which is odd as no rumours have filtered...

No, it is Bordeaux eyeing him up, not France. Article headline misleading, I thought same as you until I read full article.
Anyway, PSA not resigned yet has he??

I think he means that the fact Bordeaux-Begles are eyeing up a new coach implies Rafa Ibanez is off. He's obviously been touted as a potential successor to St. Andre.

If Vern Cotter goes straight after the World Cup ----- or to be more exact, if Scottish fans and the media come to a conclusion that their man, who actually arrived a year late, is now going to go months early???? ---- he would lose some respect as an International coach if not as a Club one. He might then have a tough time getting back into International if he again changed his mind and wanted to move on from Club again.

Given it is The Sun - a publication not known for their rugby expertise and tbh their journalists could not tell a rugby ball from tennis ball, and ultimately complete thickoid rubbish - this should not be given any credence whatsoever.

Non story from a paper that knows nothing about rugby.
The stories that are more likely to be true are that the all blacks are looking at a joint coaching team of cotter and Schmidt for after the lions tour in 2017 when Steve hansens contract is up. Been mentioned a few times in recent weeks in the nz press.
