Are they given we paid £60 million for him? Not that I thought he was worth that.
Long contract, we are financially powerful - sellers market really.

Wouldn't even pay £40m the way he's played this season so to ask for Cavani on top is a pisstake really considering Ibra will retire sooner then later why let a 40m forward go for a winger who's been poor.
no i assume its cavani plus 30m for di maria that was bought for 60m
Well their idiots if they do that. Wouldn't pay more then 40m for Di Maria at the moment sure as hell doesn't look like a 65m player. If their going on past form maybe Arsenal can get 60m for Ozil

Anyeay today's game.
Blind at left back could be a pace mismatch vs sterling if he goes out there.
Mata away from home concerns me.
Need big games from carrick and herrera and jones not to make constant errors.

Interesting to see we are now writin off players who are underwhelming for half a season or so in a new league post World Cup year.

1) That's exactly what happened to Ozil was written off & critized inside 6 months
2) Alexis Sanchez - New League, Post World Cup - One of the best players so far There are plenty of players who have come to the PL and hit the ground running even Dame N'Doye is doing it
He's just another Antonio Reyes too lightweight for the PL and not worth 64m.

Hoping Liverpool turn up today, need Sterling to do better in the wing back role you feel, glad that the three man defence that has worked is available for this game. Glad Gerrard is on the bench, he's not going to 100% fit and it gives us an attacking option for the bench that we wouldn't have if he was swapped with Allen.
I probably wouldn't have started Sturridge but with Markovic not even on the bench so presumably injured and Ibe injured think it makes sense to start him as nobody really to play at right wing back if Sterling moves up top.
Hopefully Fellaini can be controlled aerially, think he'll target Can but up against Skrtel I think Skrtel should come out on top, so hopefully he can help Can out.

the team bought side show bob for 50m mate and as a defender- he is now reaching a certain potentially playing in midfield.. but yeah PSG aren't to great in the market.
but as others have said if Ibra is off- they wont sell cavani unless he pushes for a move

To be honest, Di Maria was overpriced. But Fiorentino was probably itching to bend United over the table since he paid £80m for Ronaldo (bargain now, of course).
To be fair to di Maria, it's a new league, and he's spent large portions of the season being played out of position. I honestly cant begin to understand how you pay £60m for a player who had a miraculous year down the middle and spend the year trying to throw him out on the flanks, or even stranger... up front.

Sanchez played less games and longer rest.
Di Maria started well if you remember.
Bit premature to say his value has plummeted but whatever.

Would be surprised if they sold Di Maria now, lazy journalism, like when there were rumours that Mata would be sold after six months at the club.

Good finish that, was worried that Liverpool had just dropped off the boil in recent games and this start has been poor. Need to up the game soon or it could be a long game.
Oh, and can someone please tell Moreno that his team is in red

Not sure how he can book Allen for one foul earlier, but has let Fellani off with three.

Context Hampo, Herrera had dispossessed him and would have been running at your defence whereas each of Fellaini's fouls have been in non-threatening situations in your own half.

While Herrera had won the ball, a slight touch on the shoulder isn't as bad, or as dangerous, as climbing on a players back like Fellani did for the 3rd, and final warning, foul.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Well that was a really disappointing game from a Liverpool perspective, only one real chance, don't think it was "shocking" that Lallana didn't hit the target, it wasn't an easy ball to hit and he was trying to make sure he beat De Gea by getting it in the corner. Not everything has to be fantastic or awful, there is a big grey area in between, and that chance falls into that grey area.
Sterling has struggled on the right hand side and Moreno on the left, a change in system might be needed because Mata is getting too much space on the right and there isn't enough attacking width because they're being pushed back. Wouldn't be surprised to see Moreno taken off at half time.
Manchester United have done well but as can be seen from that short period of Liverpool pressure, they're not confident and look like they might break with some pressure applied.
It is ironic that Manchester United are playing very much like Moyes played at Everton to success. Long balls to Fellaini, inverted wingers with attacking full backs and sitting midfielders, it's all very Moyes' Everton.

Yeah Fellaini definitely should have been booked in that first half, he gets away with so much for some reason. I know often tall players are unfairly penalised, but he is the exception to this rule because he seems to be held to slightly more lenient rules then any other player.

Bit simplistic to say we've been going long, Carrick, Herrera and Mata have passed the Liverpool midfield off the park but it's easier to say we've gone long than accept a midfield of Henderson and Allen is pretty crap.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Mata has been fantastic, he's essentially been given a similar role to David Silva for Manchester City. At Chelsea he struggled out wide because he was in a rigid Mourinho system. He has struggled centrally because he hasn't been given the space he needs. So out wide he can cut inside and has space, whilst not expected to act as a defensive shield.

Agreed, mata better with the quick ball herrera gives and the option he provides.
Would have liked a second as dont think Liverpool will be as poor 2nd half.

Don't think Fellaini has done enough to get booked yet. Context and type of fouls need to be considered.

You have gone long though, I wasn't suggesting that was your only form of attack, but it has been a method used. Moyes' Everton didn't just play long balls to Fellaini, but it was a method they used, and it is one that he didn't take advantage of when he was Manchester United manager for some reason.
I don't think Henderson and Allen have been too poor, they've just not got enough support from the two wide players, makes it hard to gain any control when constantly outnumbered. I thought in the period of Liverpool pressure for 10-15 minutes Allen and Henderson were playing really well and United struggle to get control of them.

Again, go back and watch that last foul. He's climbing all over Allen from behind, easily a yellow card. The issue you have is that the referee sets a standard by booking Allen for a slight touch on the shoulder, now every time a player goes past someone and gets pulled down, by the standard the ref has set, they should be booked - won't happen though.

Agreed, very picky just because Allen was booked. United have been the better side but signs Liverpool were gaining confidence at the end of the half

Bad refereeing here.
The one on mata was probably a foul, could have told him to calm down.
Herrera shouldn't have been booked either imo.

I think psychologically Gerrard has gone since the Chelsea game, I think it's why he has decided to leave and I think it's why he has struggled this season. More than physically, I think his mental strength has just totally deserted him and it's understandable really, that slip will haunt him forever. I get that for some it's funny, but I think it's just really cruel for him that after all the times he came up big for Liverpool he made a mistake at the crucial moment in a game which could have put the cherry on top of a great career.
