Crimey wrote:I think psychologically Gerrard has gone since the Chelsea game, I think it's why he has decided to leave and I think it's why he has struggled this season. More than physically, I think his mental strength has just totally deserted him and it's understandable really, that slip will haunt him forever. I get that for some it's funny, but I think it's just really cruel for him that after all the times he came up big for Liverpool he made a mistake at the crucial moment in a game which could have put the cherry on top of a great career.
This is a really fair point to make I think. He wanted that title more than anyone at Liverpool last year to top off his fantastic career, but, although you can argue Liverpool were losing that game anyway, Gerrard's slip which led to 0-2 was the killer blow that ended their title dream there and then. Today is no different. Rodgers hasn't played him for a reason, because his team are playing well without him or have been recently. I also think Rodgers doesn't want to play Gerrard much now that he is leaving which is bizarre to some people but I can see sense behind it. If Rodgers ever needed to justify his decision to not play Gerrard to those fans who think it is bizarre to not play him, well that red card gives him the excuse.
The bad thing for Gerrard is now, will he play again? He will miss 3 matches now but will Rodgers put him in? You can say his last home league game and last Liverpool game potentially and the Cup final you would, but Rodgers almost wants to leave him out and with his team playing well, there is no reason to change that either. Even still though, in the league its not ended well for him at all. He could have cost Liverpool the top 4 this season and cost them the title last season (theoretically). That's some send off really. Literally though, Gerrard has faded out into a whimper ever since that Chelsea game.

Fantastic finish from Mata.
10 men cost us then, lost the ball in the middle and just didn't have the men to cover.

It's five point and Manchester United have a really tough run in, the toughest of all the contenders really.
I'd bring Toure on for Allen, move Can into midfield and let him drive forward, nothing to lose now.

You've got to remember there is a lot of football to be played yet. United will open up a gap in this game but they have been dodgy this season and there are still 8 games left to go, 24 points plenty of time left yet. Also there is still the race for Europe that is well and truly back on now. This game is massive for Liverpool's Champions League hopes as well as an opportunity to regain a 4 point gap in Europe which they are not doing.

Please no Balotelli, I cannot wait for that waste of space to leave the club, he'll go down as my least favourite player to ever play for the club. Move aside Christian Poulsen.

I've stopped watching it and I missed Mata's goal. Who has the time and energy to moan about it? D you hold some sort of grudge on me? Every time I post something you pull your finger out and put some witty comment in when its needless and unnecessary really.

Honestly, he's the most stupid player I have ever seen play. I don't know what people have seen that think there is any worth in him as a footballer but I don't think I have ever seen it. I thought he was overrated at Manchester City, he started to rebuild at AC Milan for about six months before reverting to type and now at Liverpool he seems determined to make sure he leaves the club worth nothing. He needs a brain transplant.

A lot of criticism about referee's over the weekend and rightly so. But am I the only that has thought that Martin Atkinson has had a really good day in light of the circumstances? I think he has. Credit the referee. LVG wanted a good referee, he's got one.

Good goal, a draw isn't off the cards, just need to be sensible defensively.
Also as much as I like Sterling, it's only through his own ineffective performances that he has been moved a bit out of the spotlight.

Great stuff lads, messing around with the ball in a completely non threatening situation in midfield and giving a goal away.

Manchester United should have put this game to bed by now, it's the opposite of the reverse fixture, that was an even game with an uneven scoreline this is an uneven game with a more even scoreline.

Balotelli has a chance to win over fans by scoring an equaliser in this game and he's stood still. I'd rather Borini play than him, at least he puts a shift in.
