Everybody nominates 5 players to keep. Every player you keep loses you the highest pick you have left.

I.e if I keep 1 player, I lose my first round pick.

Also it shouldn't be that hard finding 1 person who wants to take over Basel. If worse comes to worse we'll just have to bring back FootballLight.............

If you are really struggling to find a new manager, then I can run Basel for a season. Alternatively, any of the other ex managers fancy taking it turns to run the team for a week?

But I'd like it if we could agree on limiting the size of tactics.

I also want to steer clear of the draft.

I kept tactics to an absolute minimum and was lauded for it. That should be the standard all managers aspire to.

Shall we put a fair word limit on them? I think it's the only suggestion I have to be honest.

Word limit is fine, but then you're asking everyone who does results to count the words on each set of tactics! Plus what's the punishment if you go over the limit? 1 goal to the opposition seems harsh if you go 10 words over.

We could just do it if it's like majorly over the limit or something, we don't have to be too harsh on it to be honest.

Once upon a time we did this:

STARTING XI
SUBS
INJURIES
3 ATTACKING INSTRUCTIONS
3 DEFENDING INSTRUCTIONS
SUBSTITUTIONS (TO BE BRIEF)

This was because we were all voting on every game bar our own, and it was difficult to wade through massive tactics each week.

People saying "much better 2nd half from England". That's what happens when you move Phil Jones out of midfield. I'm not a Carrick fan but he is so much better in that England midfield than Phil Jones. We need someone to step up and take Carrick's place as a passing defensive midfielder. Carrick if he wasn't already getting old would be good enough long term but why not play Huddlestone or someone else who's English and playing that role in the Premier League?

Also, playing Barkley at AM gave us real creativity even if his final ball wasn't quite there tonight.

Started as;
Jones
Henderson - Delph
Rooney
Walcott - Kane

At our best it was;
Carrick
Henderson - Delph/Townsend
Barkley
Rooney - Kane

It isn't rocket science to play players in their best position and realise it improves the team.

It's a shame Carrick wasn't played enough when he was younger, England didn't have the bottle to drop one of Gerrard or Lampard.

Henderson and Delph were the energetic midfielders that needed a passer behind them. Instead, they got Phil Jones.

I do.

If he was going to rest Carrick, he should have played or called up one of;

Mason, Shelvey, Mutch, Colback, Rodwell, Noble, Huddlestone, Chalobah

But no. He chose Phil Jones out of position Rolling Eyes

Sorry, that's not good enough for me. The 2 actual CMs ahead if him wanted no part of the ball. Unacceptable at this level.

Jones was out of position and out of his depth, but he got no help from midfield

That's fair, but both were much better playing ahead of Carrick than they were playing ahead of Jones, that can't be a coincidence.

Hart: 6 Possibly couldve done better with the goal, but didn't have a great deal to do otherwise.
Clyne: 5 Caught out of position a few times and struggled to make an impact going forward.
Jagielka: 7 Englands most solid defender by a wide margin.
Smalling: 5 Didn't look comfortable before going off with injury
Gibbs: 6 Reasonable performance, made some decent forays forward
Jones: 4 Massively out of his depth at DM, somewhat better at CB
Delph: 3 Probably ran a bit but made no positive impact. Passing was wayward
Henderson: 4 See Delph but with better passing
Rooney: 7 Looked bright, found space and was a threat throughout.
Walcott: 5 Looks short of match fitness, and Englands tactics didn't suit his game
Kane: 6 Plenty of endeavour, but did relatively little

To be honest, I struggled to notice either in either half. Italy backed off in the 2nd half so perhaps they had more room.

For me, it's not a good enough partnership at the moment to take into a tournament

When everyone's fit, Delph doesn't get in that team for me. But he still looked better when he had a ball player behind him.

Wilshere when fit plays ahead of Delph, if we went into Euro 2016 with this team i'd be more accepting.

Hart
Clyne - Stones - Cahill/Jagielka - Gibbs/Shaw
Carrick/Colback
Henderson - Wilshere
Sterling/Barkley
Rooney - Kane/Sturridge

I'm not convinced by Carrick enough defensively to have him as a sole DM to be honest.

It's more of a Pirlo type role TBH, and Pirlo was never good enough defensively. But I'd prefer Colback to be given games there to see how he does.

Hmm. Not convinced by the other options to be honest, and Carrick is no Pirlo.

You cant pencil Wilshere in at this point unfortunately, cant rely on him. Think its harsh on Welbeck too to be fair, he works well with Rooney

But did you know him when he was his previous reincarnation Nick Fury? Before he got headbutted and transformed into Zinedine Ze Zebra? He was a bigger Man Utd biased fan than even viva. I think when he got violated by the zebra he lost some of his hatred of ABU. Now all we need is for a duck sized horse to sort viva out.
