Re: Full UK TV run for Breaking Bad
Despite it's popularity I can see some people watching it and getting bored after a few weeks. I had to download it a watch it in huge chunks, even then, I was waiting for it to get as brilliant as some people seemed to believe it was. It's OK but I've enjoyed other things more.

I agree, it wasn't written that way but it seemed written to be binge-watched.

I got fed up watching it after the 2nd season, I still don't get what all the hype was about it

To be fair, the last three seasons are when the majority of hype started happening. The first two seasons were very low-key, not many were talking about it before 2010 and the the third season where it definitely gets a lot more exciting and larger in scale. The first season was badly affected by the writers' strike whilst the second was more praised for the acting.

As with waking dead I got to the end of season 2 and gave up, I like to give things the benefit of the doubt but Breaking Bad just didn't hook me in and I cant see myself going back to it

I really enjoyed it, but it doesn't live up to the hype as the "best show ever" that many proclaim it to be imo. There's a certain cult following that exaggerate how good it is, like a lot of shows.

Cheers mate. One more question. Does Better call Saul take place before or after the final episode of BB?

Before it is set six years before and plots how he went from a low rent ambulance chasing lawyer to become Saul Goodman. Is very good, played a bit more for laughs and Breaking Bad, but is very enjoyable.

So I can watch it before BB or will it not be as good as watching BB first?

Or maybe it is the "best show ever" in a lot of people's opinions?
I'm not going to argue whether it is or not because its an opinion at the end of the day isn't it?
But it is the best ever in my opinion and according to IMDB the majority of people agree. Anyway....
I've watched it back through for the 4th time recently and I have 2 episodes left. I'm watching it with the Mrs this time round, her first. The fact that the 4th time has been possibly the best, even better than the first, says a lot to me.
I am planning to watch Better Call Saul straight off the back of this run of BB. Obviously I haven't seen it yet but I would advise to watch BB first.

You could I guess, I think it would work better watching Breaking Bad, as you would really need to understand how the characters end up to enjoy the process of them getting there.

Re: Full UK TV run for Breaking Bad
Thing is MIG if someone asks you about a show, and whether they'd like it, if you respond with "It's the best show ever" that builds the hype massively. Happened to me and I watched a few episodes of season one and really didn't see the fuss with Breaking Bad, then the same guy said to me "well it doesn't get good until season 3". Massive let down based on what I'd been told prior to watching it.

I loved it, didnt think it was perfect or worth the hype it got, but things rarely are. However, it is very good. I preferred Dexter, but I like crime thriller types. Its certainly better than the Walking Dead, one of the most awful "big" shows I can remember.

I loved the first couple of series of Dexter but felt it went badly downhill after that.

Re: Full UK TV run for Breaking Bad
Part way through season 3 on Netflix. It's good but 'best show ever' is unreasonable hype.
My biggest issue is that none of the characters are particularly likeable, so while it is interesting and well acted and written, I just don't care that much what happens to them. A bit the opposite of Game of Thrones, when you start to really like a character only for them to feel the sharp end of a sword...

It only starts to get really good in season 4 dummy.
I think Jesse is very likeable. Yes he has flaws but ultimately he's one of the good guys, which is more than can be said for scumbag Walter.
You didn't like Hank either?

Re: Full UK TV run for Breaking Bad
Hank's too much of a screw-up and ego for me. I know some of it is about his macho image, but I just don't warm to him. His wife is a complete b*tch, and I've gone right off Skyler since she started shagging the boss - she's not worth all the hassles Walter is going through to support his family after he dies...
Jesse is just a drop-out, and while I have some sympathy after his girlfriend OD'd, I don't see him as one of the good guys.
Walter of course is a complete barsteward. Easily the most interesting character though, as he thinks he is acting morally for the greater good, yet things are getting progressively worse.
Indeed, the only character I've warmed to at all is the black guy who is the drug king pin. The idea of a regional drugs baron driving a Volvo estate has a certain appeal.
