Arrested Development
I have seen so many people wax lyrical about this over the years and took the plunge about two weeks ago thanks to getting Netflix.
Although I am enjoying it immensely, I just dont get why it gets such high praise. Its good but for me its not up there with the great US comedies.
I am up to about episode 12 of season 1 - does it get better?

Re: Arrested Development
I felt the same way Adam.
I watched the first 3 series, and though it was funny, I couldn't understand why it was held in such high regard.
I wouldn't necessarily say it gets better as the series go on, but it is consistently good.
Gob is brilliant in it.

Like all comedy its a bit subjective to personal tastes. Personally its one of my all time favourite comedy shows

Same, adore it. Some of the recurring jokes are amazing. One of the few that doesnt depend on love stories and sitcom staples. I didnt find myself sighing as the programme went through the clichéd story ideas

Re: Arrested Development
My favourite part in the whole shows series is Michael's facial reaction to George Michael telling him how Ann (her?) eats an egg.

In addition, all the Ann jokes are great.

Re: Arrested Development
Are Netflix commissioning them again or is it getting picked up by a TV station?

Re: Arrested Development
Netflix I think. Its unconfirmed, I think a producer or similar mentioned there being more. The news ones recently weren't great so I'm not hugely fussed

Re: Arrested Development
Half way through season two now and really in to it. Don't think its up there with other classics but still really easy watching.
Re: Arrested Development
It gets funnier with a rewatch, not something id say of many sitcoms

Re: Arrested Development
About 10 episodes in to the 4th, recent season.
Different to the previous seasons as its a series of flashbacks over the same events but still very good.
Still wouldnt put it up there with one of the great comedies of the last 20 years but each to their own.

Re: Arrested Development
The 4th season doesn't count. It's like the Star Wars prequels.
Like others have said, it's all about the running gags.
"I've made a huge mistake."
"Come on!"
"No touching!"
"Say goodbye to these"
Tobias' quotes. "I'm afraid I blue myself."
The chicken dance.
George Michael's crush on Maeby.
"But where did the lighter fluid come from?"
"Watch out for hop ons."
The Ann jokes.
"Annyeong"
The doctor.
