First topic message reminder :
Not a great card in Newcastle, the only 50/50 fight up first between Simmons and Dickinson.

Because you're an idiot...
Hallingisms to watch out for.....
Joshua has made a statement.....
He stopped him quicker than.....
He was a respected opponent (by somebody)..
I'm an idiot for seeing only one winner in a fight, try actually debating a point rather than insulting posters.

Hearn must have forgotten the BBC and Audley.
Could be worse, was supposed to be Bradley Saunders.

Anyway Truss, in a couple of weeks when Gavin is top of the bill in Birmingham we'll look back on tonight as a great headline fight.

Thought he'd forgotten Gaverns name then , Not expecting anything other than another KO for the British 'Deontay Wilder'

If I was a professional who had any chance of fighting Joshua, my body fat level would be significantly lower than Gavern's.

Joshua looks a lot more reckless, not that there was much danger in it.

I unfortunately am at work and haven't seen his most recent fight just yet, but in his last one on the Stevenson undercard he got decked and he seemed a little raw. Fair play if he's improving however.

And Truss would be one of the first too right him off as a useless heavyweight should he lose. You can't moan about guys getting world title fights that you feel don't deserve them and then state a guy who has just beaten Jason Gavern should be chucked in one.

Didn't see him tonight, but what I have I agree with Alex. Considering he was a much better amateur than kovalev and beat him, kovalev looks the more polished pro.
Beterbiev keeps his hands low, hangs his chin out, jumps in with his jab, but clearly hits like a mule.

Johnsons a good little test for him to see how he does when he steps up. a couple more from the top 20 level and then go for a world title fight, if you've already shown you can hang with some of the bigger boys then your on a surer footing and can come back if you do lose.
Step up now and lose and you've taken less money for the fight (not a mandatory) and every man and his dog is queueing up to say you was a hype job and deserve nothing (a la Price)

Re: Tonights Action SPOILERS
Stick Joshua in with someone like Charr, Ruiz JR, Pulev or Glazkov after Johnson and it's a good step up.
However Dillian Whyte has sent a contract over to Matchroom and Joshua for a fight for the British title so that may come first.

Re: Tonights Action SPOILERS
Joshua must have harder spars . Not even looking forward to the Johnson fight. The only thing that fight will be is:
A) what does he look like over 12
B) can he stop Johnson
The rest of the fights are good. Mitchell vs Linares and Selbys fight. But after watching Johnson vs Fury and Chisora I suspect KJ will try to keep his rep as an unstoppable opponent in tact and run like forest gump

I'm not sure the ring could take Johnson running like Forest Gump.

Yep. I know that. He's 30 though. I was just a bit disappointed with him... for a top amateur he's not a lomachenko or even a golovkin. Not knocking a guy who comes out swinging though. As strongy says, he backs himself and is laying everyone out so he's doing something right.

Re: Tonights Action SPOILERS
Stevenson basically hit Bika with a left Hand for twelve rounds. Actually humorous tbh. He's a bit like Arjen Robben in that everyone in the arena knows what he's gonna do (Cut inside in Robben's case, straight left in Stevenson's) but there's absolutely nothing his opponent can do to stop him

Re: Tonights Action SPOILERS
Kevin Johnson is a good step up for Joshua.
Wasn't long ago he took Fury the full 12 and gave him a work out.
Some people on here think Fury is a good heavyweight so surely if Joshua puts in a good performance it's a good benchmark as to where he is at?
Maybe Tony Thompson is a step up after that?
No matter who people fight these days, we always slag off the opposition

Sneaky right hand did most of the damage, although it looked like Dickinson was clocked while he was on one knee.

That's a dream of mine Hampo
Of course it could be better but it's good to see a couple of the less experienced lads get some TV time and they've done themselves proud.
Smith in a bit of a mess here with a cut.

Simmons was brutal. Remember him fighting the unbeaten Guy who Sauerland promoted and thought he looked alright. But jeeeezzzz he's slipped badly . Even against Wadi he was awful but pulled it out. Tonight he was like a corpse

Took you a bit longer than I thought to come up with that Strongy.
Hate to break it to you bud but Eddie really doesn't care about what you think, his last worry is some jumped up snot that believes he has experience in every little thing going.
