OWGR April 2015-Fighting for a entry to Match Play, Players and US Open
First topic message reminder :
Three OWGR deadlines coming up in the next 9 weeks, April 20th for the top 64 in WGC Matchplay, April 27th for the Top 50 for the Players Championship, and June 8th for the top 60 into the US Open.
I guess there is another one as the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth also invites the top 50 but few players from the PGATour travel to England for that tournament if they are not a member of the PGATour.
Here is what the top 100+ players should look like tomorrow.
Note: Luke Donald has said he is not playing the WGC MatchPlay because of his brother's wedding.
Bubble MatchPlay Players have the Masters, Hilton Head and Shenzhen International to confirm their spot in San Francisco. The Japanese Tour also has a tournament the week after the Masters so Koumei Oda could qualify via the Token Homemate Cup.

Paul Broadhurst was pushing a trolley at the Cornish festival pro-am last week. 64 round St Enodoc, 64 round Trevose (not sure about the Newquay round, more get have been 66 but he won by 7 shots...clearly not a chopper.

No you didn't ... you said trolleys were designed to be pushed. Some are, some aren't but you didn't specify

The image of a player pulling a cart almost always comes with the caveat they are a complete chopper. Must have been a bit of a billy no mates to have no one carrying his bag for him.
What tosh. With most trolleys pushing or pulling them makes no difference. What made you think they could only be pushed or pulled?

Re: OWGR April 2015-Fighting for a entry to Match Play, Players and US Open
Because Mac, someone pulling a three wheeled trolley makes me think they have no idea about how it is designed to be used. THere is no point having a front wheel if you are pulling it.
I didn't say they couldn't be pulled when they are designed to be pushed, I said that the person doing so is usually a chopper.
Have the bus fares gone up or something Mac, or is red Ed not tickling your fancy by getting into bed with the revolting Russel Brand

Super
Most courses seem to use the big wheeled trolleys these days. They can just as easily by pushed or pulled.
Using a trolley in a round that counts would signify you are a chopper, whether you push or pull the f*****g thing.
Super, I thought you admitted just recently to being a labour voter. I suppose you don't like them as much now that Tony has gone?

Mac, a three wheeled trolley is designed to be pushed. I can't remember the last time I saw a 2 wheel once designed to be pulled.
As for Labour, I have never admitted to being a labour voter. I have never voted Labour, although given the constituency I now reside, I may have to to keep Jimmy Krankie and her cronies out.

Why does using a trolley mean you are a bad golfer? I don't understand the argument

Nobody is saying that. I am saying that when I see a golfer pulling a three wheeled trolley, which is designed to be pushed, by and large they are terrible golfers.

I used my trolley for the first time in a year at the weekend. Didn't realise how heavy my bag is

Re: OWGR April 2015-Fighting for a entry to Match Play, Players and US Open
other sure signs you are a terrible golfer:
you carry a golf ball retriever
your sandwedge is part of the full set
you carry a 7 wood
you use a non white glove
you wear cords on the course
im sure theres plenty more!

You squat down and push your tee peg in with your thumb, then put the ball on top of it.

you have a suction cup on the end of your putter for easy ball retrieval for when you finally get the ball in the hole

You use a chipper
Whip the 60 degree wedge out for everything inside 80 yards
are fat (that ones for you S_R)
Drink before the round
use the scorecard holder on a trolley (making you a double duffer)
Use coloured balls
have custom fitted clubs, but still can't break 80.
use the ball marker that comes on your glove
have read anything by Bob Rotella
wear a cap
plumb bob
spend more than 10 seconds lining up a putt

I use one of those because, having had two hip replacements, bending down just that bit past ground level is quite uncomfortable.incontinentia wrote:you have a suction cup on the end of your putter for easy ball retrieval for when you finally get the ball in the hole

Fleetwood is up to #50. That should be enough to get him into the US Open next month.
Luke Donald will be down to #54 and he is not exempt into the US Open. He needs to have a good tournament (or a couple of decent finishes) to stay in the top 60 and an exemption into the top 60.

Cheers GPB,
About what I expected. Luke has two tournaments coming up where he has a strong record, TPC & Wentworth. If the results don't come there, they won't be coming anywhere.

A decent number of people following McIlroy & Furyk, one man and a dog watching Woodland & Willett.
Very poor 3-putt on #14 for Willett could be the mistake that does him in.

Furyk barely passes Bubba to the #4 spot if he beat Willett in the Semis
Willett goes #38 if he beats Furyk, #41 if he loses.

Things getting worse for 9C, not only has his ranking gone down the toilet, but so has his relationship.

Oh no, don't say Dustin's been playing away again . . . . . .
Perhaps Lindsey didn't like Tiger's short game yips?
