Joost van der Westhuizen
Got a call tonight that my friend, hero and legend may pass in the next few days,

Do you know him? He is one of my favourite players ever. Top two or three. Very sad.

The best scrum half of the professional era. I have had the pleasure of watching him play on numerous occasions, how tragic this is.

Very sad to hear this.
In my opinion he was the best scrum half to ever play the game.

Re: Joost van der Westhuizen
Friend or no i have to away that this OP is IMO inappropriate.
He was not the best 9 but of course one of the greats and his illness is tragic. He was a superbly aggressive 9….he repeatedly stopped Lomu in the 95 RWC Final, rose to be 99 RWC Capt, 38 tries from only 89 caps, with the speed of an OS centre and awesome sniping on the fringes.

Sad to hear. I was quite shocked when they show him a few month ago.

Re: Joost van der Westhuizen
A couple of people have expressed a little confusion about the great man's current status.
Joost is still very much with us as the latest post on his blog will testify: http://www.joost.co.za/joost/
We wish him well and having had friends who have used his Harley Street doctor, he is literally in the best possible hands.

Good to hear he's still with us. I remember when he was last on Scrum V, I thought to myself what a great and inspirational man.
