We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Missed the game today great result!
City have bought terribly since they won the title in 11/12, 100s of millions and no real certain starters or class players introduced.
They've prospered in a relative decline of the pl, picking up the top players from the non top 4 and the sub elite Europeans was good enough as a base but they didn't kick on and it has showed in Europe and this season.
6 wins in a row for United, city, Spurs and Liverpool in that run.
Top 4 all but secured, big test next week against chelsea.

Blind has to try and make the tackle in that situation, didn't even try. Might give away a penalty but by not attempting the challenge he just lets him through on goal.

Sense some complacency setting in now for United, now they know a top 4 is pretty much in the bag.

14/1 with Betfair now for United to win, 5/1 for the draw.

14/1 is great odds... But I suspect you'd find throwing your money into a well more likely to bear fruit. 5/1 is a little more interesting. Not enough to entice me, but interesting nonetheless

Haven't seen the game but a real shame this reault, think anyone could have told you how everton would play and we've played into their hands (well according to the reports).

Awful performance, the offside rule is fundamentally wrong when that third goal can stand, doesn't excuse the defence standing still.

How on earth is Ashley Young still playing for United? One of the worst wingers I have ever seen. Everton absolutely dominated them.

Nothing wrong with that rule, the United defence went to sleep, Miralles came from behind the half way line & ran onto it. United have just come unstuck because their usual tactic of lumping it to Fellaini has now been exhausted & found out. Just predictable & a serious lack of pace. Young has been fantastic but I'm amazed nobody knows that all he does is run at you & then cut back on his right every time.

I just don't think he is good enough for United ability wise. Sure he puts in the effort but all I ever see him do is cross and try and beat his man which he can hardly do.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
When do you become active with play? The ball is certainly played to Lukaku, he is within two yards of the ball. United have played pretty much a perfect offside rule and been done by a daft grey area in the law.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
How have they been done, if you switch off for Lukaku & don't look across the whole line or see other runners, that's your own fault. I see no issue, other than a defensive switch off & players looking at the ground & not doing their complete job. Play to the flag or whistle

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
That isn't primarily how we've played recently Liam, without Carrick we lack control going forward which is the bigger problem, Fellaini is an option rather than the focal point.
Crap performance but could just be complacency.
Lukaku is clearly offside and the rule is wrong, doesn't change the outcome of the match but it's something that needs sorting out, you can't allow an offside player to chase the ball, realise the defence has pushed up so he leaves it and then carry on.

As HH, as soon as Lukaku makes his initial move for that ball he's active and interfering with play, hence he's offside. Daft grey area that really needs sorting.

Sounds like a mistake from the official rather than a grey area.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Well the grey area is, as I posted before, when does a player become active? Liam clearly feels he wasn't active, both myself and HH, probably a few others as well, feel he was.
They need to do away with that stupid part of the rule, should always be if you're offside, you're offside. Non of this active rubbish.

Also Youngs statistics are nothing to be proud of. 22 games played, 2 goals and 3 assists. That is not United level.

And 2 of them assists were from the game vs City. I don't watch all Man United matches but is he good enough to be a starter for United? It's not a coincidence that United are interested in Depay. What does he bring to the United lineup that someone like Aaron Lennon, who has similar stats this season wouldn't. He is overrated imo. If united get Depay at the eos, it will be a good thing for their title hopes next season.

He's not overrated either. You need to be rated highly in the first place, which he hasn't been since his Villa days.

I dont think his hands should be up like that when blocking an effort. Completely unnatural position and a bit lucky to get away with it

When you drop down to make a block in the way Cahill did your back arm always goes up like that for balance.

As expected, a top class defensive performance. Job well done from Mourinho, another league title in the bag

Arsenal fans booing Fabergas is shameful, well done to the good fans for appaulding.
Don't get there chants of boring boring chelsea. Honestly what did they expect? Chelsea to go all out attack and send every player forward? There is a reason why wenger can never beat Jose.
