We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Missed the game today great result!
City have bought terribly since they won the title in 11/12, 100s of millions and no real certain starters or class players introduced.
They've prospered in a relative decline of the pl, picking up the top players from the non top 4 and the sub elite Europeans was good enough as a base but they didn't kick on and it has showed in Europe and this season.
6 wins in a row for United, city, Spurs and Liverpool in that run.
Top 4 all but secured, big test next week against chelsea.

This is shocking for us, seeing Hull take 3 points here.

If Newcastle don't get another point, you'd be relying on Sunderland not getting 5 or more points from here on in.
Newcastle 35
Hull 34
Villa 32
LEICESTER 31
------------------
Sunderland 30
QPR 27
Burnley 26
Newcastle 35
Hull 34
Villa 32
LEICESTER 31
------------------
Sunderland 30
QPR 27
Burnley 26

Fully expecting more awful performances until the end of the season now we have absolutely nothing to play for.

Will Rodgers's ego allow him to drop down and manage Newcastle next season?

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
So what's the points target to avoid relegation? I'm reckoning 37 will be safe, as I can't see either of the bottom 2 getting there (4 wins and 3 wins + 1 draw needed respectively), and one of the 5 teams above at the moment and short of that mark won't make it.
Hull have Arsenal and Man U at home and Tottenham away as three of their last 4, but also have Burnley at home - I can see 4 points in those.
Villa at risk, but I can see a couple of draws and then a win at home to Burnley on the last weekend. Should be just about enough.
Leicester are the key - not likely to get anything tonight out of Chelsea, but then home fixtures against Newcastle and QPR and away to Sunderland and Southampton.
Sunderland need to get points in their next three matches, although Southampton will be difficult. Everton are guaranteed a mid table finish and have little to play for, and then the above-mentioned home match to Leicester could be vital. Last 2 games are killers, away to Arsenal and Chelsea.
Newcastle are the wildcard - currently look as though the might not pick up another point, but do have QPR to play.
Current form, I think Sunderland are most at risk, although can't totally rule out Newcastle given their abject form.

We need 2 more wins i reckon.
Everton h, 0
West Ham h w
Saints a, w have a feeling on this one.
Burnley h, depends on if we are safe and Sherwood resting players for cup final.
Planning on doing Brighton & Brentford away if we do fall.
Gotta keep the options open:)
Nah, we'll be ok. Keep the faith.

Villa will beat us and I reckon Newcastle will too, which will probably be enough to keep them both safe. Burnley have to beat us, but I have a feeling we might draw with them at home this weekend.

"Proportion of income" - thus yours will be lower naturally as your income I'd imagine easily trumps all other sides
Hope you all got on Chelsea at half time

what you have to remember about our wage bill is that we have had scholes, giggs, rio, vidic and even fletcher all off it in recent times and they all would have been some of the biggest earners
the likes of blind, herrera, rojo wage wont be near some of those

I am going to have to say they are up there with the United team of 12/13 as the worst in recent times but more boring, our ineptitude in defence did make our games fairly exciting.
I do suppose this Summer will see a lot of squad players of the bill can also add Welbeck, Cleverley, Evra and Anderson to that list.

They were entertaining the first half, teams worked out their balance issues a bit midseason and Jose went back to solidity as he always does

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Don't get the boring tag, Chelsea have more than one dimension to them, they can win in an entertaining way or they can be organised & disciplined. You need that character & variety to win multiple trophies & they are ruthless winners. They get labelled boring, well what do we label the rest of the Premier League contenders this season, shambolic? The issue hasn't been Chelsea's style of play, it's been the clear decline & quality of the Premier League.
I've found Chelsea very entertaining this season. They've shown master classes in offensive & defensive performances & that should be celebrated. Full deserve the championship this season, so congratulations to them.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Best team, but I haven't thought they played very well on the attack in 2015. And as much as I like a good defensive display, I like it within reason. Not as the intent but as a result of play. They were punished for it by PSG and I do feel they've been a tad lucky their challengers have all had brainfarts this season at different times.
Credit to them, they've done the job, but it feels a bit like the tortoise has won the race.

YeS but the two are chalk and cheese. Holloway was or at least tried to be funny. Pearson seems like a serial killer.
