We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Missed the game today great result!
City have bought terribly since they won the title in 11/12, 100s of millions and no real certain starters or class players introduced.
They've prospered in a relative decline of the pl, picking up the top players from the non top 4 and the sub elite Europeans was good enough as a base but they didn't kick on and it has showed in Europe and this season.
6 wins in a row for United, city, Spurs and Liverpool in that run.
Top 4 all but secured, big test next week against chelsea.

What a win, defensive masterclass & took advantage of United's recent drop off. Safety guaranteed, Myhill was immense. We'll be back next year to take a third consecutive win at OT

Defensive masterclass? Don't kid yourself.

Decent performance, couple of great saves, combined with RVP being a man of the past. Rooney up top works, so they drop him back to midfield.
If Di Maria got given the chance to play himself into form like RVP has had all season then I wouldn't think he'd look so bad.

Don't think either Utd or Liverpool actually want 4th place.

As predicted it was a dreadful game.
No point in dwelling on it too much but poor tactics, poor players, poor performance.
Not enough players on the squad that know how to manage a game or have the intelligence to make good decisions.

Albion rarely looked in danger, although RVP's penalty was a great save rather than a bad miss and Myhill's save from RVP a few minutes after that was one de Gea would have been proud of.
When I saw the team sheet before the game and saw four CBs plus 5 CMs, I suspected a drubbing. Credit to Pulis for masterminding our second consecutive win at the Theatre of Wins, I mean Dreams

di Maria was beyond awful though. Worst signing in United's history by a country mile, including Falcao, Veron and Prunier.

I'd hardly say he has been as bad as Falcao or Veron. Maybe not that far. But still, not even worth the £57m+ that was paid for him. I can't believe United paid that. Not worth the paper it is printed on. He used up a lot of ink for virtually nothing. Tbh, I'd have preferred the ink on LW than Di Maria this season.
But well done to the Baggies.

If Rooney & co. can't breakdown the Baggies, how on earth is Emmanuel 'prolific' Riviere supposed too next week?

I believe his ban is over, however, I'm hearing he's not fit, as he's had the screws in his kneecap removed during the ban & hasn't been training

John, did you see the Carver press conference on Sky Sports News?
He's pretty much alienated his whole squad, bar Colback, now. Bad times.
Think you'll survive, just. Who'd wanna work under Ashley though I don't know.

Seen rumours that Carver has had a fight with players on the team bus and is going to be sacked in the next few days.
Can't say I'd be surprised if this turns out to be true.

Its fair to say Carver has had a pretty horrendous time at Newcastle. They should stay up, but by the skin of their teeth. I can't see them picking up anymore this season if I'm honest now. People said 35 points is enough, its not now. Sunderland and Hull both win their games in hand and Newcastle are 17th by this point.
This is the run-in for the teams fighting relegation (bar Burnley and QPR):
Aston Villa - West Ham (H), Southampton (A), Burnley (H)
Newcastle - West Brom (H), QPR(A), West Ham (H)
Hull - Arsenal (H), Burnley (H), Spurs (A), Man Utd (H)
Leicester - Southampton (H), Sunderland (A), QPR (H)
Sunderland - Everton (A), Leicester (H), Arsenal (A), Chelsea (A)
For me, its one of Sunderland, Hull or Newcastle.
Villa will get 6 points for me and finish on 41, safe.
Newcastle will get 2 points (max) and finish on 37.
Hull will get 3 points (max) and finish on 37.
Leicester will get 6 points and finish on 40, safe.
Sunderland will get 4 points (max) and finish on 37.
Then it goes down to goal difference. That's providing those are the points the teams gain. Its very difficult to predict but that's where I stand, or sit.

So, Newcastle are gonna stay up, not getting any more points, and 35 points won't be enough to stay up. But Newcastle will stay up. On 35 points.

Even better. They're gonna get no points, except for 2. Its prediction gold.
I predict Sunderland will not win any more matches, apart from maybe some of them, and will get relegated as a result of this, but stay up from the matches they win.

Man City winning. Tottenham were perhaps the better side but as Chelsea have proven that doesn't matter!

You would think City and Arsenal are just about secure in the CL spots for next season now.
United should hold on, likely need another win from their last 3. You'd think Liverpool have left it too late now.

At the other end, Burnley and QPR are gone. Sunderlands remaining fixtures are not easy, but if they can nick a win, you struggle to see where Newcastle are going to pick up points on current form.

Newcastle have still got one easy game. Home to West Ham. Only two people will be motivated to win: Allardyce and Nolan. The rest are on the beach already.

Really? You two? Of all people. Whilst I'd love some suggestions (honestly, it helps) for where you think we could be off moderating, GSC, I trust that you're probably a bit more tongue in cheek than the other two.
