We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Missed the game today great result!
City have bought terribly since they won the title in 11/12, 100s of millions and no real certain starters or class players introduced.
They've prospered in a relative decline of the pl, picking up the top players from the non top 4 and the sub elite Europeans was good enough as a base but they didn't kick on and it has showed in Europe and this season.
6 wins in a row for United, city, Spurs and Liverpool in that run.
Top 4 all but secured, big test next week against chelsea.

Coloccini been a liability for a long time, been truly awful & with Williamson as his sidekick, it's no wonder we have the second worst goal difference in the league. Makes me wish we had Bramble & Boumsong back. Ever since the wife wanted him back in Argentina a year ago, his heads been elsewhere. Not surprised Krul has lay into the muppet, need to send him & Carver packing & get some real leadership in.

I can't see them picking up anymore this season if I'm honest now. People said 35 points is enough, its not now. Sunderland and Hull both win their games in hand and Newcastle are 17th by this point.
So, Newcastle are gonna stay up, not getting any more points, and 35 points won't be enough to stay up. But Newcastle will stay up. On 35 points.
I'm glad you pointed that out not me.
They probably will stay up, but on goal difference really and on 37 points. It doesn't make much sense how you've just said 35 points won't be enough to stay up, but Newcastle will say up on 35 points. Unless your being your usual self and just joshing me? (Not a surprise).

Such disappointing news, this decision is just another nail in the coffin. Looks like it's come about from McClaren rejecting us.

Could be the only two on the pitch though, Newcastle players probably worried they'll be stuck with Carver if they start winning.Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Newcastle have still got one easy game. Good point, he's lost the players already & if they do survive, they will have to work with him next year, as survival means Ashley will no doubt make Carver permanent, as he's the ideal cheap puppet, unlike McClaren
I can't see them breaking us down next weekend, Pulis will no doubt have the frustrating tactics, crowd will get annoyed & then we will pick them off. Many of the Newcastle players won't have the fight under Carver, they've shown that already. Players like Cisse, Sissoko, Tiote, Janmaat, Perez will all be in demand this summer, relegated or not, so there's not much motivation from the key players to actually fight this one out

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Following the result at Leicester City on Saturday, there has been two days of frank dialogue with John Carver and senior players.
The outcome of those discussions is that the board, John Carver, his staff and players are absolutely focused on our current situation and the three hugely-important fixtures that remain this season, two of which are at St. James' Park.
All parties accept responsibility for the current situation but are determined, together, to ensure this Club - your Club - retains its Premier League status.
That is the only focus at this time.
In short Mclaren said no.

John Carver is staying on & we’re going down
Thankyou, Lee Charnley MD

So yesterday it was being linked with Thauvin, today it's condemning the club to relegation? What kind of leadership is there at Newcastle?

I still think they should be trying to get Warburton for next season instead. Doesn't have the pedigree, but his background and track record suggest he could bring the change they need (without Ashley having to spend big manager money).Fernando wrote:In short Mclaren said no.

In a sense this is a good point, in another scenario, its not. Yes, most of them players will be in high demand in the summer as you say and I would expect the majority to leave maybe bar Janmaat and Perez, I think they will stay. However, clubs aren't going to be chasing after players who don't have any effort to keep their current club up because its shows their unprofessionalism just because they might get a move somewhere better in the summer. So really if the Newcastle players are to fight for anyone, it must be for themselves, ultimately, its their careers that are on the line. If they don't fight for the club or the manager, they fight for their careers at least because they've all still got a good few years to go yet before the even consider retirement and they don't want to be playing for small clubs in a small division.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Sissoko, Janmaat and Perez are the ones I expect to leave regardless of position. They are ones who have come out with a modicum of positives from this season. Krul will certainly be looked at too.
The others will depend on situation.
Can't see Carver being made permanent if they survive. Being cheap generally involves some calculated risk...it'll cost him more in the long run to have Carver and he knows it.

I'd say Krul, Sissoko and Tiote are almost definite this summer. Haven't really seen enough of Perez or Janmaat this season but neither have hardly made the headlines whereas the others have more often so I can't say either will leave. Probably underrated by me. If the players and the fans don't want him, then is there really an argument as to why he should stay this summer? No. No disputing that he will be leaving in the summer. If he doesn't, good luck to Newcastle.

No, I think we will stay up.
I think Newcastle would be a big loss to the league.
Anyway at this stage its 1 from, Hull, Newcastle, Leicester, Villa, Sunderland for 18th spot.
Nothing against them, but would like to see Hull go out of that lot.
Villa obviously not. Sunderland/Newcastle to stay up because of the derby. My fiancee's family are Leicester fans, so be good to have another ding dong with them next season.
So that leaves Hull.

Wouldn't really miss them myself.
Just think more on their fan base really. Great stadium etc.
Probably not the best reasons, but hey.
Looking forward to seeing how Bournemouth do next season.
