We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Missed the game today great result!
City have bought terribly since they won the title in 11/12, 100s of millions and no real certain starters or class players introduced.
They've prospered in a relative decline of the pl, picking up the top players from the non top 4 and the sub elite Europeans was good enough as a base but they didn't kick on and it has showed in Europe and this season.
6 wins in a row for United, city, Spurs and Liverpool in that run.
Top 4 all but secured, big test next week against chelsea.

I wouldnt miss Sunderland or Hull, and I think Ashley deserves to get punished by relegation. Sunderland going down is fun for me. Oh, Paolo, we don't like your hard working regime, so we're gonna sack you and achieve absolutely nothing. Hull, well I like Steve Bruce and I feel like they punch above their weight and earn their spot more than Sunderland or Newcastle. Leicester have played good stuff all year and I like their way of going about things. Don't want Villa to go, but Sherwood getting relegated would be a giggle. Plus they have some cracking players there that id love to steal.
Thats another thing about relegation - picking the scraps. Not much to take from Leicester, Sunderland or Hull, Newcastle have a few and so do Villa so maybe they would be best to go.
Sunderland or the Toon would be my preference, probably Sunderland as I like John and also the toon fans, whilst insane, do get mocked by Ashley.

Brucie is the only manager down there who deserves to stay in the premier league, the rest are either useless or a tool of the highest order, Newcastle going down would be preferential as there fans have a false sense of superiority over other teams.

Should of been 3-0 before that tbf but this is really easy It's like Giroud vs Newcastle.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
John Carver offered to fall on his sword during a meeting with Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley after an amazing 48 hours at St James' Park.
In an attempt to save Newcastle from relegation, Carver told owner Mike Ashley he would stand aside if the club could find a replacement. Incredibly, Newcastle
approached Derby manager Steve McClaren to take the last three games of the season, in a desperate attempt to find the points they need to stay in the Barclays Premier League.
McClaren turned down the chance to move to the North East and appears determined to lead another Derby assault on promotion from the Championship next season.
The failure to recruit McClaren, who has failed to get Derby into the play-offs this campaign, forced Newcastle to release a statement backing Carver. But the current boss's power has been eroded over the past few weeks by the betrayal of senior players.
On Monday, the squad attended the club's Darsley Park training centre for a meeting on their own as they look for the win that could keep Newcastle in the top flight.
Coaching staff agreed to stay out of the summit, which was attended by first-team players ahead of a warm-down session and massages for those who played on Saturday.
This is not the first time the players have held a meeting during Newcastle's depressing run, but the slump has continued. A Newcastle source told Sportsmail: 'It's just meetings about meetings.'
Amid fiery exchanges, the players were told they were so bad they would be practising kick-offs in training this week because they had surrendered possession so easily. Just three minutes after the restart, they conceded a third goal when Ulloa scored again, this time from the penalty spot.
Carver fears the worst after his side's run of league defeats was extended to eight. The manager wanted a response from his players in the dressing room, but he fears they lack the necessary leadership and character going into the final three games.
There have been a number of attempts by the Newcastle boss to provoke the players on the training field, but there is now an air of resignation among the squad. Managing director Charnley, who has been hugely supportive of Carver since he replaced Alan Pardew in January, also met with the coaching staff on Monday.
And it has emerged that an administrative decision means young central defender Jamaal Lascelles, who has been on loan at Nottingham Forest for the season, will not be available to face West Bromwich Albion this Saturday.
Newcastle agreed to let Lascelles' contract at the City Ground run until the end of May in case Forest made the Championship play-offs.

How can you keep Carver on, given his record, relationship with the players & now offering his resignation & wanting out of the fight? Mind-boggling. Even if McClaren didn't want the job, give it to Beardsley or someone available, we just needed change & a fresh approach to avoid a ninth straight defeat. Now we are still stuck with a fragmented group, private meetings & still no leadership.

The goal was lucky, but did you see the sick pass for Alexis third goal by the Welsh messiah? This year he has been hurt and played out of position but I do believe he has double digit goals despite the injuries. When healthy he is world class and can play in every position in the midfield. Only place Arsene hasn't put him in is left wing.

#mufc has reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven & Memphis Depay for the player's transfer, subject to a medical. Pending the successful completion of the medical, the deal will go through once the transfer window opens in June.
Apparently a 22m deal

22 million....for another Winger come forward....Falcao most certainly isn't coming back and I would imagine that one if not both of Di Maria and Van Persie will leave.
De Gea & Di Maria for G.Bale + CB or Cash perhaps?
Who do Utd fans want to see shipped out?

This summer will be huge, with the TV money, Manchester rebuilds & the top 4 sides trying to close the gap on the big three in Europe, can see records being shattered for the amount spent in a window. Liverpool will miss out on a number of players, it's inevitable, there couldn't be a worse time to miss out on top 4 really.

I don't think we'll be going after Bale now, can't see us getting rid of Di Maria after one season.
It will most probably be something like Depay, Gundogan, Clyne and Hummels, beyond that we don't need anyone else coming, solves our biggest problem of having the creativity of a pub team when Carrick is injured.

Hard to know what to make of that signing, looks to have quality and a goal threat.
Presumably he will play left wing/left wide forward.
This puts young out of the side who has been one of our better players this year, can't imagine he will do as much going back as young so a formation change seems likely.
De gea
Right back smalling centre back blind/Shaw
Herrera carrick new cm/blind
Mata Rooney depay
Will that be the shape? Will that win the league and challenge for cl?

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Some very interesting stories to be read from today.
Carver saying he is the best coach in the league. He isn't a great manager because of his leadership skills and management skills which have shown, but that doesn't mean to say his coaching skills are bad. He lacks motivation, management and leadership, but that doesn't mean to say what he isn't getting across to the Newcastle players is wrong, his tactics, drills and formations could be right, but obviously, they aren't at best use at Newcastle because so many different factors are hindering him. I think the biggest message is that is shows he is still putting the effort in. At least he still has his self-belief, he's not being pessimistic which is a good sign that he isn't giving up the fight and neither are his players by his words. But, he needs to produce the quality alongside his effort values. As it is said, actions speak louder than words.
Also another is the rumours on Depay's move. It looks all but certain, although, nothing is guaranteed until the papers are signed and he is playing under contract in a United shirt. He's even said it himself on Twitter so it does look as if the deal is in place and he is ready to move. Is there a risk of potentially being overpriced and he could come out as one of the Premier League's biggest flops? I don't see that being a problem. Only seen him at the World Cup and a couple of times on Sky Sports 5, but he does seem a very good little player. Another talent added to the Premier League is always good to see. Be a good move for United and for Depay. The main question that is yet to be answered, where does he fit in alongside all of United's attacking talent? Di Maria, Mata, Van Persie, Rooney, Falcao (if he stays), Herrera, Fellaini etc. A couple might not be there but the majority will stay. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Yeah its subject to him passing a medical, but so long as there's no issues there it should be finalised as soon as the transfer window opens.
From what I've seen of him he plays wide left or behind the striker, and as much as Young and Fellaini have had an impact in the second half of the season I think Depay is an upgrade on both so would see him starting in either position.
I think Di Maria or Mata will go, and I don't see Nani coming back even though he's sounding like he wants to come back. I can easily see Di Maria ending up back at Madrid with Bale coming to United (if we make champions league)

He would need to show a bit more interest, go to more games.
Did'nt show much interest this season.
Also have to spend more.
Will be an interesting summer to see what happens.

Only way we need to say goodbye to him is when he jets off on holiday.
Then say hello when he gets back for next season and becomes top scorer, as Sherwood takes us to the top half of the prem, where we belong, as we embark on a european adventure.
Yeah baby.

He's definitely gone this summer, he'll have less than two years left on the contract & has already shown his intentions with that transfer request the last time he was in form. Would be a blow to lose him but Sherwood could do with £25m+ to start building his own team this summer. You can't rely on Benteke to bail you out when his form is so up & down, need a bigger, stronger squad, otherwise next season will just be a repetition again & a relegation fight.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I would'nt be surprised if he stays.
Depends on what happens in the summer with the take over.
If we get someone or people in who are willing to spend, then Shwerwood can add to the squad.
To long now we have been a selling club.
Need to keep hold of our best players and add.
Easier said than done I suppose. Will see what happens.
Depends on what happens in the summer with the take over.
If we get someone or people in who are willing to spend, then Shwerwood can add to the squad.
To long now we have been a selling club.

He's spent three years with Villa, a good stepping stone, but he and his agent will both know that to earn the big bucks, win trophies and make a lifetime reputation, he needs a big move to a big club. He needs to guarantee his place in the Belgium side too.

Rinse em for 30m and add where you need to. He's a little injury prone and you could make sure you're not so reliant on one man for goals.

Would be a blow to lose him but Sherwood could do with £25m+ to start building his own team this summer. You can't rely on Benteke to bail you out when his form is so up & down, need a bigger, stronger squad, otherwise next season will just be a repetition again & a relegation fight.
I do see where you are coming from in that respect, however, Liverpool relied a lot on Suarez's goals last season that almost took them to the title. They did the same by selling their best player and rebuilding the squad and is hasn't worked this season. Its also affected Sturridge's performances when he has played because he doesn't have that partnership anymore. However, just because it didn't work for Liverpool, doesn't mean it won't work for Villa I suppose. But, I feel Villa have got to really sign a good striker hat is capable of scoring 10/15 goals and a couple more players to improve their starting 11. A new owner with a fresh outlook of money could be crucial to Sherwood's summer as well.

C'mon Pulis, put another nail in the coffin. Haha shocking scoreline for Newcastle at Everton, you desperately need Burnley to beat Hull by the looks of it.
