We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Missed the game today great result!
City have bought terribly since they won the title in 11/12, 100s of millions and no real certain starters or class players introduced.
They've prospered in a relative decline of the pl, picking up the top players from the non top 4 and the sub elite Europeans was good enough as a base but they didn't kick on and it has showed in Europe and this season.
6 wins in a row for United, city, Spurs and Liverpool in that run.
Top 4 all but secured, big test next week against chelsea.

that sky advert makes no sense, why would a sunderland fan be cheering on Newcastle? must have been made before they realised how much trouble newcastle were in

We need to beat WBA & we need Burnley to win at Hull. That would leave us on 38 & Hull on 34, with two games remaining & Hull to play Spurs & United.

Think Hull will win.
This 18th place could well come down to final day.

Saints better be just as poor next saturday.
Hopefully only a matter of time before we score by the sounds of it.

You know you're in dire straits when Anichebe scores, good to see Cleverley and Fletcher having having a positive impact down at the bottom of the table.

We're gone
I'm pretty much resigned to that fact now. We deserve to go down playing like this & for keeping Carver in charge, truly shocking decision.

doubt it, but if true, massive hit on his reputation. basically went in there, messed it up, doesn't have the fight for a rebuild & is jumping ship. not sure why he would want to leave, man city is basically the same job as bayern, a big rebuild this summer & an ageing squad.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
What right has Shearer got each week slagging Newcastle off? Cast his mind back a few seasons ago when he couldn't get Newcastle results and under his management his Newcastle side went down. It didn't work out well for him and Carver is still doing a better job because at least Newcastle are staying up, for now. Then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Hull aren't doing there bit. They've got a chance to send the division's worst team down, fill up a relegation spot early on and climb above the drop zone themselves. If anything Burnley look the more likely team to score and give themselves a chance again.

Can we have the ongoing Pep debate in the European section? Also, its beIN sports, so not massively acclaimed as a source.

Its just come to my mind after every time on MOTD he's been having a go at Carver and Newcastle and he said he is "disappointed" about the letter. He can be disappointed, but, at least it shows they are trying and they are still doing a better job than what he ever did. Then again, on the flip side, he did say Carver is going down fighting the other week...

Alan Shearer being unqualified for the Newcastle job doesn't mean he can't point out someone else is unqualified.

Understandably, yes, like I've said, he is entitled to his opinion and he did say Carver is going down fighting. But, he is still the wrong person to be talking about Carver's short comings when at this moment in time, he is doing a better job than what Shearer did. But, it can only be judged once we hit 38 games in a couple of weeks and the season is finished.

The day has just gone bad to worse for Spurs. 2-0 down, in a rut, not looking like bringing anything back and now Vlad Chiriches has been sent off just after 50 minutes. They've got a shed load of work to do now if they are to get anything from this game.

What a massive goal for Newcastle and Hull, but not Burnley as they are still going down. Danny Ings. Pressure has got to Hull today.

Should Newcastle have done more to keep Alan Pardew? I know he wanted to move to Crystal Palace and the fans were sick of him, but surely keeping him then until the end of the season and Newcastle wouldn't be in this mess.

Strange what you can get away with when you're a club legend, not that the situations are at all comparable; Shearer's Newcastle were already down the bottom whilst Carver has overseen Newcastle descend down there. Context, context, context.

Yeah I suppose that is a fair point, but even still, Carver will have still done better to get out of what he created if Newcastle still manage to stay up.

Disallowed goal for Burnley. They deserve the 3 points today on the balance of play.
Jack Grealish is looking a really good talent for Villa now. Done really well today for them, developing into a really good player.
Maybe, the tables have turned, Newcastle to stay up now?

We should of just scored two, Brunt hit post & Saido had one saved by Krul. Could go either way this one.

This is it now, final 5 minutes....
Fine margins, Sunderland have 2 deflected goals to win them the games, Hull have had 2 rocket free kicks hit the crossbar. That's the difference in luck between up and down. Hull haven't had it tis season and won't do in their last 2 games you would feel either.

Newcastle 1-1 WBA
I would hope Spurs, given it's their final home game, would perform & please the fans with a good send off.
As for NUFC, I guess it's a good point, given Hull's loss. Something to build on heading into QPR game, who might already be down.

A lot will depend on how we do against Palace and how Liverpool fair against Chelsea, if both results go our way then I imagine Hull will be facing a weakened youthful United side.

Well, another 3 points.
All over them first half.
Dee ammers looked better second.
We'll take the win.
4 points is still to close for comfort.
Avoid defeat in the early kick off against Saints next saturday, and Hull don't beat Spurs, then we are safe.
Ideally a win and we are safe.
Actually think we will edge it 2-1.

No Rooney no party. Well, no Carrick is huge too, but without Rooney they have nothing to worry a defender other than how tall Fellaini is.
