We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Missed the game today great result!
City have bought terribly since they won the title in 11/12, 100s of millions and no real certain starters or class players introduced.
They've prospered in a relative decline of the pl, picking up the top players from the non top 4 and the sub elite Europeans was good enough as a base but they didn't kick on and it has showed in Europe and this season.
6 wins in a row for United, city, Spurs and Liverpool in that run.
Top 4 all but secured, big test next week against chelsea.

Is Rafael injured? Is there really no one who could be doing better than Valencia?

Out for the rest of the season, this is so painful to watch, genuinely think we're going to miss out on top 4.

Young deserves that after toying with Ward for the last 5 minutes, praying to god we hold on to this now.

Blind, Mata, Young and De Gea have played well. Fellaini done his job. The rest are painful to watch

Huge 3 points. Ground out, some very professional ball keeping come the end. Mata my motm, just above De Gea and Young.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Carrick being injured alters everything; Young has less support down the left when Blind is in the middle, the service to Fellaini is both poor and from the wrong angle, the interplay between the three on the right is lost as the service to them is again slow. That all makes Rooney a passenger, the slow build up play gives the opposition hope on the counter too, if it's quick then space opens up. Hopefully Gundogan will help with that, I do like Blind as a player but the more I see him in central midfield the more I see him as a left back.

Dolph very much does not love Utd, if he does he keeps it exceptionally under wraps as he's ribbed me enough over the past few years.

They are my favourite of the "big" teams, admittedly, but I enjoyed their season of Moyes as much as anyone (although I felt for Moyes), and I detest many aspects of Manchester United. I adore watching Mata, Carrick and De Gea play and I'm a huge Rooney fan.
Arsenal make me purr on occasion but the weak underbelly grates on me. If Van Gaal becomes possession obsessed I will probably find myself enjoying their play less.

Annoying that Newcastle are staying up thanks to hull bottling it.
Bruce to leave and takeover at Newcastle?
Hopefully him and Dyche remain in the Prem next season.

Only need 1 more win Tim.
Not 2.
Lets make sure its saturday, then finish of Burnley.
Then take care of Arsenal in the cup and then its been a great season, well the last couple of months anyway.

I can't see you losing to Hull, draw at worst. They're an awful side are Hull, dreadful summer signings - why you'd sign Michael Dawson and Jake Livermore is truly beyond me, let alone sign Jake Livermore to play alongside Tom "I kick the ball hard so people rate me" Huddlestone

Interesting, that they showed the bottom 7 on MOTD, and how much they had spent.
Burnley were the lowest spenders, then ourselves.
Think Hull had spent a sh1t load as had QPR.

Brendan Rodgers brought Gerrard off so he could get an ovation.
Just ignore that bit where it was 1-1 and you needed to win then Brendan...

Lucas for Gerrard was mind-boggling. I thought Liverpool lacked any urgency in the last 10 mins, as for Sterling, he's just so average, if I was a Liverpool fan & City bid £30m, I'd snap their hand off, given his contract situation.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Yeah it was disappointing to see a lack of urgency late on, especially after Rodgers did the opposite against QPR. It was a lack of belief, which is really disappointing to see, especially considering this is the club that so often achieves the unlikely.

There's Istanbul obviously, but also the entire run, including the Olympiakos match. But then there's the last minute Gerrard goal in the FA Cup final. There's beating Real Madrid 4-0. Beating Ronaldinho led Barcelona 2-1 in 2007. More recently most of last season was very unlikely, such as thrashing Arsenal, Everton.

great for newcastle. if united can beat arsenal next weekend, it means united will still mathematically be in with a shot of 3rd when they play hull last game of season, i think. HH/CR is that correct?

Cracking performance by Swansea. Monk for me is manager of the season. He's taken Swansea to another level and made them adaptable, as proven tonight. This is despite losing their top scorer in Bony half way through the season. See Wenger is complaining again about a team playing defensively against Arsenal. What does he expect? a team to come out all guns blazing and be picked apart by one of the best attacking line ups in the league? yeh, dream on. Well done the swans, just hope we can beat arsenal next week to give ourselves a chance of 3rd so we miss out on the qualifier.
