2021 and RWC 2023
Just picked up on a story in Dubai that the Rugby League (Errr-Hmm) World Cup is heading to Dubai in 2021.
Joking aside, could this have any affect on the RWC 2023 decision? Feeling amongst most is that after Japan 2019 RWC will want to consolidate and go with a safe bet rather than expansion. But will this news have any impact?

Difference is that League is really only played in Australia/New Zealand and the North of England (plus a bit France). Dubai makes sense its about half way in between.

Japan should be a fair contest for everyone given the way rugby laws are going. SA 2023, it's probably their turn by then. I also heard NZ are fielding two teams in 2023, the NZ based team and the France based team.

Currently 56 SA players in the Top 14. I expect this to go up 25% after the RWC.
There are also 35 in the Pro 12 and only 12 in the Premiership

South Africa will be represented by 4 teams at the 2023 RWC, one for the quota system, one for the other players in SA, one from France coached by Meyer and another playing out of Croke Park for the Rabo players

If Smit came up for a paltry £60K, then I have a bridge to sell ya.
On the other hand, whilst at Sarries he might have had a minor, almost un-noticeable job which topped up his expense account just a tad (or maybe a mega-tad).

You'll probably have one called scotland as well. Actually as an addition to the "Emerging Springboks" we could rename the Scotland team "Almost Springboks"
