Pak in Bangladesh
BD smashed 329 in first ODI and bowled Pak out for 250 to win handsomely
and are looking good to win the 2nd ODI also hands down
I don't follow BD cricket much.....but from what I saw of them in the world cup 2 games vy Ind and Eng....they looked like a very competitive ODI unit
and they have continued tzheir confidence into this series.
need to watch them closely....as India will be the next side visiting them

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
They are evolving well, Tamim, Shakib and Mushfiqur have been around in international cricket for quite some time and they are all in their 20s now. They have a couple of half-decent seamers evolving now, Rubel Hossain at last showing some promise, and young Taskin Ahmed looks good.

Ganguly started his captaincy career vs BD and it seems his coaching career will also start against BD

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
They have an established coach who has led their recent revival. Is the BCB trying to give the WICB a run for their money and create problems? Hathurusingha had some differences with some of the selection decisions, but it will be hard to sack a successful coach, the cricketing public support is with him.......
Ganguly's name was linked to the India job?

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
I said all along Bangladesh are a top team in ODI's...England really did get a tough Group, 2 of the best teams, 1 team that always performs in SL, and a solid team in BD
For me in the world cup, the teams are in the following order
Aus, NZ, SA, India, SL, BD, Eng, Pak, WI
For Me England group had 5 of the top 7 teams in one group...
Ajmal performance dropping...seen his wicket seemed like a chuck

If we pay any heed to BCCI leaks......Gangly is front runner, Dravid, the second runner, and shastri a distant 3rd

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
Ajmal's performance hasn't been upto any international standards...leave aside his own very high one.
Since I am not watching.....i would accord benefit of doubt.....coming back from a lay-off and the physical /mental side effects of an action re-model.
However if he does not deliver close to his earlier levels......a cloud of 'he ducked so he picked wkts' will hang over him with retrospective effect for the rest of his life.
Given that he is 35, time is also short for him.

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
Bangladesh win the 2nd ODI and with it the series!. Brilliant from them!. Pakistan restricted to only 239 in their 50 overs, and then Bangladesh chased the total down 3 down in the 39th over. Tamim Iqbal followed up his hundred in the first game with another, an unbeaten 116 this time!. Proper thrashing this. Bangladesh is a kind of a favorite side for me, Shakib is a personal favorite as a player, I am very happy to see them taking off at last.......
Hope they won't drop the intensity for the next game. And that the BCB directors would just not want to replicate the WICB and the ECB and mess things up.......

Bangladesh about to cleansweep Pakistan!. Chasing Pakistan's 250 all out, Bangladesh are 240-2 in the 40th over. Another proper thrashing, and they are winning this as comprehensively as they did in the first couple of games.

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
Its all over!. Terrific from Bangladesh, they win by 8 wickets with more than 10 overs remaining. Soumya Sarkar with an unbeaten 127, and as in the frst couple of games, both Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim in the runs. Tamim, who scored hundreds in the first 2 games, was out for 64 here, and Mushfiqur who hit the winning runs remained not out on 49.

Haven't caught this series, as it's times aren't ideal. Have Bangladesh just turned the corner... Or have Pakistan been simply abysmal? Suspect the truth lies somewhere in the middle as it usually does.

Pak batting line up is weak, it was really a case of a good batting side vs a good bowling side, but BD bowlers performed well and Captained well, Pak were not so strong with the ball with Ajmal struggling to bowl, no sympathy, him and Hafeez cheated their way to the top, it wasn't no marginal chuck like by a degree or 2, where you couldn't really pick it up with the naked eye (e.g. Narine), these guys arm never straightened at look to be bowling 45-60 degree...
When an attacking opener fires, you almost always win...Tamim fired all 3 games and Sarkar fired in the last, only top 4 batted read on CI that rest of the team faced 38 balls or something all series

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
The first test on, into the 4th day.
Bangladesh batted first and scored 332. All their top 7 got starts, but none of them managed to convert into a hundred. Mominul Haque, who has been Bangladesh's best batsman in the format since his debut, scored 80 and opener Imruil Kayes made 51.
Pakistan batting got it all together for the first time in the tour and responded with a massive 628. Mohammed Hafeez made 224, and there were conributions throughout. Taijul Islam took 6 wickets for Bangladesh.
In their 2nd innings, Bangladesh are 114 without loss. And their run rate is close to 5 rather than 3........

Bangladesh's opening partnership moves past 250 at 4.5 rpo. Rapidly approaching their highest ever partnership

Kayes has really turned his career round, his average after 16 tests was a woeful 17 ...hes now scored 3 centuries and a 50 in 4 tests with an average of 71 since his recall.

Haven't seen any of this.
But from the sound of it , I am very glad I don't have to bowl on that pitch

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
Great recovery from Bangladesh. The confidence they've taken from their WC performance and the subsequent ODI series against Pakistan reflects in this one.
Even though the openers have put together 273 and are unseparated, Pakistan are still ahead by 23. But Bangladesh have made a strong comeback into the game through the splendid work of Tamim and Imrul.

At last, Pakistan goes through the opening partnership. They have put Bangladesh into the lead, but Imrul has at last hold out in the deep for 150.
Bangladesh 312-1.

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
Bangladesh have just lost Mominul for 21, they are now 350-2. Their lead, despite all the 2nd innings efforts, is just 54, so they do have to stay positive so they can shut Pakistan out of this one.
The rain has been around and interrupted the game a couple of times, but Bangladesh need to bat another 25-30 overs to be safe

Double ton up for Tamim Iqbal!. And he does it in Sehwag style!, launching Junaid Khan for 6 to move from 195 to 201. 3 of his last 4 scoring shots have gone all the way.

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
Another first for Bangladesh in a historic series. They have managed to avoid losing to Pakistan in tests for the first time....... Yes it was a flat pitch, but it certainly was creditable, considering they had given away a lead of 296 in the first innings. Tamim and Imrul led from the front, and ones they left, Shakib Al Hasan eventually came to the party with a significant contribution to ensure Bangladesh wouldn't mess things up after the terrific show from the openers. Bangladesh eventually finished on 555-6 with Shakib remaining not out on 76.

Re: Pak in Bangladesh
The 2nd test has started today at Mirpur. Bangladesh won the toss and put Pakistan in, but faced a setback right away. Shahadat Hossain, who replaced the injured Robel Hossain got injured after bowling anly 2 balls, and is unlikely to bowl any further in the game. Pakistan however lost 2 early wickets to keep Bangladesh in the game, since though, Azhar Ali and veteran Younis Khan have kept Bangladesh at bay, and at tea Pakistan are 196-2. Azhar on 85, Younis on 77.
