EVerybodies favourite David Haye talks about his future
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/david-haye-announces-boxing-comeback-5400333
The ex-world heavyweight champion twice pulled out of bouts against the Mancunian in 2013 and says he has no interest in renewing their bitter rivalry
David Haye has announced he is to return to the ring – but Tyson Fury can forget about a heavyweight battle of Britain.
The Hayemaker has not fought for almost three years since he stopped Dereck Chisora at Upton Park in July 2012, and then twice pulled out of dates to meet Fury in 2013 due to injury.
But as the former WBA heavyweight champion paid a surprise visit to the Double Jab boxing club in New Cross, South London, he revealed plans to trade blows again later this year.
Manchester's Fury can forget pencilling in any new dates with 34-year-old Haye, however, after the king of trash talk refused point-blank to consider a rearranged fixture.
Haye said: “I’ll be back - 100 per cent I’ll fight again. I’m in no rush to name a date or an opponent, but it will definitely happen. I was ringside at the Carl Froch-George Groves fight last year and I realised how much I had missed big stadium fights.
“Fury can forget it, though. It’s just not going to happen – destiny has decided he’s not going to get a payday out of me.
“If he had fought me, he would have been lying on the floor when I knocked him out after a round, laughing all the way to the bank.
“He’s said on numerous occasions he’s not in it for titles, or to create a legacy, all he’s interested in is the money. Why should I help someone with that attitude walk away with millions when most great fighters don’t make that kind of money?
He would be cheating his way to Millionaires’ Row, and I would hate to be an accessory to that.
“I always said I would retire at 30 but I messed up and what’s the rush? Why retire just because of a number? If you look at all the major fights in my career, I’ve not taken any unnecessary punishment – even against Wladimir Klitschko, I got beaten but I didn’t get beaten up.
“He gave me a fat lip, but that’s no big deal. As long as I’m not taking any physical punishment, I’m not going to worry about my age any more.
“George Foreman took 10 years out, came back and won the WBA world heavyweight title at 46 when he beat Michael Moorer, so I’m not going to put a deadline on it.”
Haye was a good deal less scathing about Britain’s Olympic heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, a big-bang merchant he believes is destined for the top.
He said: “Joshua ticks all the boxes – I saw him at London 2012, I like the way he has progressed as a professional since then and Eddie Hearn has done a good job with him.
"He’s fighting regularly, stepping up in class every time and he’s definitely one for the future.
“Imagine how good he’s going to be at 30, but he won’t have to wait that long to fight for a world title.
“Hopefully I’ll be out of this business before he reaches that stage and I won’t have to worry about him.”

He has been threatening the same thing since last June or July, if he is free from injury you do have to wonder what he is waiting for.

Like Floyd/Manny, I'll believe it when Haye's actually in the ring with the gloves on and an opponent in the other corner.
Froch may retire, then again he may not and I can't have my hopes smashed again with Haye promising to return and then not doing so. I can only take so much disappointment

Think he's terrified people will forget about him to be honest. As everyone else says, i'll believe it when I see it.
Is this constant rhetoric harming his legacy though???

Well that would only happen if he drop Yorick's skull would it not?TRUSSMAN66 wrote:DAVE667 wrote:Like Floyd/Manny, I'll believe it when Haye's actually in the ring with the gloves on and an opponent in the other corner.

Anyway, with Froch set to do a Vinnie Jones and play himself badly in everything he does, I can see why Haye's acting career is on hold/probably dead.

Surely he could get himself on one of Hearn's undercards to dust off the cobwebs?
Big name for an under card but I can't see him headlining a big card straight away.
Who's going to trust him to show up?

I guess everyone is of the same opinion, we'll pay attention if he gets back in the ring. Until then, who cares what he has to say?
Apart from Haymaker, Haymaker cared.

Hayemaker cried if you dared question why his David Haye poster was slightly sticky.

Sorry Mr Haye, you kidded the British public once, people have long memories.
The only good thing for me on the Klitschko fiasco, was that I didn't go over to Germany to watch it and waste my money.
Stay retired nobody's interested.

Yeah I mean...imagine giving someone like Audley Harrison a shot at the heavyweight title and a load of money for throwing one punch...Adam D wrote:Why should I help someone with that attitude walk away with millions when most great fighters don’t make that kind of money?

Go away David. You were a good fighter. But you treat the sport and the public with such contempt that you are bad for business

Re: EVerybodies favourite David Haye talks about his future
Even though he's obviously genuinely 1000x better at fighting that Vinnie Jones, Froch doesn't carry himself as a 'hard man' in my opinion.
He seems more of a man's man, old before his time and a bit of a grump with a chip on his shoulder. Like one of your Dad's mates (although he's only 10 or so years older than me). Just don't buy him as the kind of guy who'll break your legs as a grudge, more the kind of guy who'll chase youths away from his lawn.

Don't even think Froch could do what Steve Collins did in "Lock Stock, two smoking Weddings and a Funeral for three men and a baby"
I could see Froch and Calzaghe as the two least intimidating hard men in movie history reporting back to their boss played by Graham Norton

There's a list of unassuming boxers who don't carry an air of intimidation particularly. Hatton, Manny, GGG.

In fairness I never regarded Hopkins as a hard man.......
But I'd certainly cherry pick my way around Lecter !!

Beat me to it Jim, this has Naz written all over it.
I think Haye will keep control of his waistline though.
Without Booth were does the direction and drive come from?

Yeah strongy he's limelight hungry, he still grabs headlines but in reality he's irrelevant. Both him and naz had 1 fight after their career defining decision loses. Him and naz both weigh roughly 230lbs. The comparisons are endless.
