Golovkins Promoter: Cotto Wanting To Pay Step Aside Money
Total proof to some that Golovkins clearly trying to avoid Cotto by facing Rubio to get Mandatory position to face Cotto and wanting a guarentee of the winner of the next fight. Cotto is running for the hills and its pretty clear to anyone without an agenda.

Cheers Alex, looks bad for Cotto in that he won't give the guarantee to fight GGG if he beats Alvarez.

Cotto is literally just milking his career as much as possible. He gets beat by Canelo anyway

Cotto's been in some tough fights and lets face it he's a welter. He's spilled enough blood to deserve a few pay days.

Mayweather, Pacquaiou, two Margarito, Mosley and Martinez fights not bring him enough money. Just being an annoying git ruining a what could be decent Middleweight division.

Would be happy for him to milk it Strongy if he wasn't walking around with a belt proclaiming to be a champion.
If he wants to cherry pick for a while then he should hand it back.

Re: Golovkins Promoter: Cotto Wanting To Pay Step Aside Money
Spilled enough blood? He has been in tough fights because he hasn't been good enough?
Pacquiao has been in tougher fights and is fighting MAYWEATHER??
Pacmans fights with JMM the first and second fights were back and forth epic battles as was his 4th fight.....he went all out with morales and Barrera....
Cotto got absolutely destroyed by Pacquiao and comprehensively beaten by MAYWEATHER.....and he got battered by Marg with supposed dodgy gloves.....I wouldn't say that two hammering constitutes a few tough fights deserving of pay days?
He just picks and chooses what he wants these days and has gone from one for my favourite fighters pre pacman to now one of the most I have a dislike for based on his antics out the ring.
One word, Diva.

Mayweather, Manny, Cotto, Alvarez, Froch, Quillin, Ward all cowards....
Yet ordinary fighters like Geale, Monroe jr, Macklin and Murray all think they can beat him....
Strange...

Quigg has four crappy defences and then fights a guy that Frampo has beaten twice and Munroe beat and you think it's great!!....
Then you guys are laying into Cotto for wanting to have one crappy defence...........
Dear oh dear oh dear oh deary me..............

Cotto knows fighting Golovkin will lead to not a very big purse, coupled with the beating of his life.
Cotto knows a fight with Saul Alvarez will bag him $15-20m, and he's unlikely to leave the fight in a permanently damaged state.

Re: Golovkins Promoter: Cotto Wanting To Pay Step Aside Money
Check out my posts about Quigg and you'll find i've been asking for him to step up for a while. Martinez is a step up and a lot better than his last opponents, perfect, nope but then 'that's boxing' (Dunno where i've heard that before)
GGG is accused of easy picks by a lot of people, his promoter comes out and says he's being actively avoided by Cotto and somehow that's okay?????
(Also, the fact Cotto's been defending the belt at catchweights)
Oh and Munroe beat him years ago, by that logic, is Mayweather still the same fighter that got beat by Sanchez in the amateurs???)

Fair points Gerry but he's facing Geale next, if he'd faced Canelo now I'd say fair play, can't fault that. Tough fight and brings a big payday and he probably starts as the slight underdog. Beale is a soft touch and no serious need when he could have waited a few weeks and taken on Canelo after Canelo knocks out Kirkland. (Which he probably will) but he wants an easy fight then maybe wait another year to fight Canelo... Come on... How long until the best middleweight in the division is officially crowned.

Re: Golovkins Promoter: Cotto Wanting To Pay Step Aside Money
Martinez has improved tremendously since the Munroe losses. He would have beaten Munroe in his prime now I reckon. Since he was taken over by Sergio Martinez he improved dramatically, the gut you saw in the first Frampton fight wasn't the same as the one in the Munroe fight and most certainly not the second.

Re: Golovkins Promoter: Cotto Wanting To Pay Step Aside Money
Cotto would receive a fortune for a Golovkin fight. That would do PPV in the U.S. Nobody on his team believes he will win that though.
Cotto v Alvarez would have probably been made had it not been for Mayweather and Pacquiao finally being announced.

Sorry I didn't realise Cotto was fighting Geale, then I don't really think Cotto deserves the payday from an Alvarez fight.AlexHuckerby wrote:Fair points Gerry but he's facing Geale next, if he'd faced Canelo now I'd say fair play, can't fault that. You may be right there Catchweight, now kinda glaringly obvious on the reasons that they're waiting for Mayweather Vs Pac to blow over as its possibly the biggest fight in the sport after that. Canelo and Kirkland could be fun if James can get himself out of the first couple of rounds, not sure he can though.

Yeah and I also meant to put Geale not Beale. Ian Beale would bloody trash Cotto and Golovkin on the same night.

Re: Golovkins Promoter: Cotto Wanting To Pay Step Aside Money
It was a great win over Martinez. Just relinquish the belt and fight Alvarez at a catchweight. Then everyones happy. Hes never gonna fight Golovkin, Im sure Golovkins team know this. Thats why they have their next 3 fights lined up
