First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

It's all about context. I've seen a man in a restaurant wearing nothing but speedos.

Now if he was on the beach it would be ok, but an eyeful of banana hammock made sure I didn't order anything saussagey.

I've got to say Glas I never really understood cerdd dant from when I was younger. But then I hated having to compete in the Urdd! I watched some of it on Tuesday and had horrible flashbacks from when I was younger and being forced to compete, because my primary school was so small and they always had to send a representative Sad

Exactly all about context. Vest, shorts and sandals isn't really that big a deal in most places.

Exactly. If he was on the beach he'd be OK, but not the city centre...still, you know summer's arrived when everyone's dress sense dies out.

That's nice Stag. All I got from my HR department today was my P11D. Could be worse I suppose - could be a P45!

To be fair, in hot weather I'd wear a vesty and flip flops. As long as I'm in a place where my tattoos might not offend people.

The concept of cerdd dant isn't that weird, but when just translate it and say we compete at 'tooth music,' it sounds really weird, as if it doesn't involve singing but flicking your teeth with your fingers or something.

I suppose a vest depends on body shape too. I guess you wouldn't want to look like Onslow or Rab C Nesbitt.

Wise remarks greybeard. However I don't think socks and sandals will ever be considered acceptable social attire.

Nah thats all a cover up. As a detective he dresses like Commissioner Gordon from Batman most of the time. In the summer the sandal/sock approach comes out.

Wasn't me, I'm afraid. I stole it from Mark Twain. He didn't even have a beard, but at least his moustache was grey.

That's the trouble Rev, they do around here except the odd skinny younger lad wearing his so-called "wife beater" and tracky bottoms.

Staggy - you need to give your da some dressing tips...

Like I said, in the summer people wear some of the silliest combos. Like girls wearing shorts, vests - fair enough in the hot weather, but with a scarf???

If you ever burn the top of your feet (as I have) you would wish that you had looked a prat and kept your socks on.

If you look great in shorts and vests one day then the next day a scarf may be a necessary addition. randy

Heat and Dress (Non)Sense

E.G. - Crop Tops on ladies. Fine if they have a flat stomach, but pretty horrendous when it' s not so much a 'muffin top' as whole loaf of extra trhick sliced Shocked

Am glad to see Murray got one of the breaks back in the tennis but I reckon this 1st set is Nadal's for sure.
