The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hobo, a good option, however given that I’ve already put off meeting her once and my GF gave me the pass to see her on my own I shouldn’t go back on that.
Glas – the shoe was on the other foot a few months back, she met her ex for pints and they had a great time. 100% happy days from my POV, I wanted to go out just to meet the guy (they’re still mates) but couldn’t make it.
Ah, don’t mind me. I’ll figure something out. I’m concerned by the distinct lack of coffee shops anywhere in Tallaght. I literally can’t think of one.

What about the Metro? Or one of the O'Briens around Tallaght?

TT, the metro is a pub. O'BRIENs could be an option though.
Ok, gotta fly to a meeting. Thanks to you all for your advice.
Ps ISA and Dougie for the Baa Baas... Nice.

Exactly every cloud and silver linings
For Tallaghs scary reputation I landed off the luas there to be greeted by a middle aged man in a pink sweatshirt walking an all white poodle wearing a matching sweatshirt

It might be a café too, but I’d say I’d get some funny looks if I asked for a cuppa in there!

By contrast when Swanny and Sharpie visited Limerick we had to take a backroad into Thomond Park as the main one was closed off due to a suspected pipe bomb attack. Limericks fines hour

Talking of which - if you need any training on what to do on the date or even prior to the date, I offer high quality training at a low cost
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hobo - what kind of "training" do you offer. When you said it yesterday I thought you were a fitness trainer.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
My opinion - as most others - is meet at a neutral venue. Safe - gives the opportunity for chat but no possibility of things getting out of control. Don't go somewhere alone, don't ask your girlfriend if it's ok to meet alone, don't risk it.

Skills training (presentation skills, time management, sales skills, branding etc).
Just starting out after being made redundant at the end of last year - all genuine enquiries appreciated! You didnt think I run this forum for free did you?
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
No but I wasn't sure what "training" meant. There is a lot of things you can train to do.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I would like to point out that
1. that Whiskey session was my whiskey you guys were slurping while I was un well upstairs.
2. Mick, i'd say get her to molloys for the pub quiz. You are best off keeping it to a neutral venue to avoid any confusion around it.
does she know you are seeing someone at the moment? I presume so?
I'd be curious as to why she can't go for a pint but has time to drop around to yours.

And yes it was your whiskey but you were in no fit condition for it, we did you a favour.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Because she’s baby sitting. Simple as. If we meet for a cuppa it will be at about 6.30pm, if we were going for a pint it would be at 9. Baby sitting puts the mockers on a pint and meeting at a later hour.
And just because me and Stag have an iron constitution doesn’t mean you should be hatin’ all up on us. We tipped some on the kerb for our fallen homies (you)… actually, no we didn’t!

You better not have wasted it.
well to be honest that puts a different slant on things. it's at 6:30. seems like a good time for that. I would just suggest that to the GF though that the change of plans.
it being early and the fact that there is a time constraint around it will make things easier I am sure.

I am not sure MIckado. I have an 11 aside match tonight at 9:15 so by the time I get home it can be quite late.
I haven't packed yet either but might drive over for the last hour or so.
Think P Mac is heading over.

Strangely enough after watching the West Wing, even with a democrat president, I started to feel sympathy for Bush. For all US presidents really as it's a damn hard job.

I was thinking the same thing Munsty. Its a crazy way of life. I have no doubt that Obama or anyone has said things just as stupid but they don't make the press.

Bush was clearly a terrible orator, dreadful, but I don’t know if he was as bad a president as people make out. I mean, not living in the US its hard to tell (and to be honest pretty irrelevant to me) if he was a “good leader” etc.
It just goes to show how important public speaking is when you’re in a role like that.

I quite like them, simple and not overly flamboyant. Might get the European one.

Bush was possibly the most stupid individual to ever hold office. Any office. It was not HIS Presidency, it was Cheneys' and Rumsfelds. He was a badly orchestrated, Oil-company backed - Puppet.
Obama is Kennedy-esque in his intelligence and oratory skills. A different Universe.
G'day all.

The hooped one is nice Pete.
There’s a fair amount of sponsorship on them all the same!
Leinster will have feic all sponsorship on the new one, but they’ll have a big splash of unicorn spooge right across the front, no doubt!

From my study of history, JFK like Obama was a charismatic president but didn't get all that much done. Actually he fared quite poorly, but he'll be remembered well because of said charisma and being assassinated and especially in Ireland due to his ancestors.

Oh they are really nice shirts Pete. I love the one in the middle. Still treasure my Guinness sposnsored one. I think it's class. And it has major sentimental value for me.

Oh Kennedy changed the US massively. Human-rights, Space Exploration, medicare etc etc. Bush just made the World unsafe.
That's why JFK was shot. Big-business, Mafia and J Edgar did not like him at all. Take your pick. He rattled far too many upper-echelon cages. Thats what Id want MY Pres to do.
Anyway, this is too big a convo for here. It would take a big session in the Pub to even scratch the surface.
Rugby rugby rugby.

The sun is spitting the scones down here. Went out for a smoke and I’m not clock watching until I get out into the glorious sunshine.
Course, as soon as I step onto a boiling hot and sweaty bus I’ll be wishing it was December again!

Fair enough Gibbo but this is the same Kennedy that got the US embroiled initially in the Vietnam war.

Kennedy was only in office for about 2 years, though. Overall, the Kennedy family are one of the most influential families in American politics. Obama needed the Kennedy approval to become the US president - Caroline Kennedy's endorsement of Obama (who isn't even in politics) was one of the main reason's why Obama got the Democratic nomination (instead of Hilary Clinton).
