The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Very true Munsty and LBJ escalated it beyond reason, when he took over. Also, Kennedy upped the anti in the Arms-Race. Big demerit on his CV. He was no angel. Ask Marilyn Monroe and 100's of other foxy-chicks... oh she's gone too... Bobby and JFK shared her, which I think was a very Democratic thing to do...

Lads, can someone clue me in. Did Ireland chose not to play at the Churchill Cup or were we not invited?

I'd be more than happy to As, and I suspect that most London Irish fans would feel the same as me. Has it been discussed at all between the clubs do you know?

Munsty, to save time here, there are a scattering of "Families", on this Planet, who control the lot of it. Governments dont - not on their own. Dont spread that round.
The Bin-Ladens and Bushs were great mates. Broke bread together. As far as I know, they still are. Oil and self-interests you see. They just both reared two wayward-sons.And I dont know which one was worse.

Pete, not sure, tbh. As you know I am pulling yer plonker - it was the Scottish pro team that lost their lion's head emblem, whilst the Scottish amateur team retained their lion rampant - presumably it's a similar story for Richmond too?
PS Congrats on the job front, buddy, sounds exciting

I can see why they didn't. Take away the 50 that are needed to prepare for the RWC in 4 weeks time, then a few more needed for the U20s world cup, and you don't have a lot left.
Its going to be a long season next year for a lot of them.

Wilkinson - Varley - Hagan
McCarthy - Touhy
Ferris - Wilson - Ryan
Boss - Hump
Carr - McFadden - Spence - Horgan
Duffy
That would be a hungry team, with a good amount of players on the fringe of selection.
I think we've missed a trick here.

Anyone else see that apparently at Saracens the players used to obliged to read one book a month as it made them more rounded as people.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hoi Pete & As.
Why would LI want to use a Lion's head as their emblem? Is there history to it?
I hated when Leinster used the Leinster Lions tag. Its like copying RL or NHL teams. What a load of bollix. It seems to have "died down" now. TF.

Is Razzle considered a book these days?
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I still don't see an issue with giving it back As. Realistically what is the point of it. Ok, so the London Irish professional team in reality was an amalgamation of London Irish, London Scottish and Richmond. Do we need 3 badges on the kit? Do any London Scottish or Richmond fans support London Irish? The answer to both questions is no I would say. Most fans of those teams went and watched amateur rugby as Scottish and Richmond began the climb back up the league ladder.
Job should be good, I have been getting a handover from the person I am taking over from and it would appear there are one or two characters on the team that may keep me on my toes!
Stag, I saw that on the website. I know very little about him. Is he any good?

The Leinster Lions thing was a bit of a marketing flop, but it was at least clever word play. Laighean being the Irish word for Leinster and it’s pronounced pretty much as Lion/Line. It makes for good puns, like Laighean King (Leo Cullen) or Laighean out (supporters bar).

The emblem thing is to do with when Scottish and Richmond hit the skids. Their badges are now small emblems on the London Irish kit. I see no point to it myself.
How's tings in de Dam anyway my friend?

The Irish word for Munster (Mumhain) works too. Its pronounced "moo-in" and sums up our links with cattle and farming rather well, us being the boggers we are

No. I wish. At a kiddies rugby camp they had a Rudolf looking character who fit in well as a mascot. But our official mascot who is at our games is the big inflatable mess we call Murty. Just google him and cringe.

It's a St George, because they hate Dragons. (Or that's what is on Stag's badge anyway)

Actually its a picture of Warren Gatland. I believe he hates Dragons too - even more than me I think.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Just did that Stag!! Haha why would you have a mascot like that?
Best mascot for me was Bristol City when we had the 3 pigs when we played wolves and they ended up in a full on fight with the wolf!! So glad I was there that day!

Yeah Mick. The Lion-out Supporters Bar, phoenetically works really well. <wheresmeSTOUTsymbol?>
Just thinking... ye lot will have to take de aul man for pints in it now. I am officially, not an officially paid-up Leinster Supporter any more. After all these years. Sad.

Ah Rav, there is a better one than that where Sparkey chickens out. That was a rematch to make ye feel better. It was a "draw".
Can Sparkey do this?

I'd love to get a pool where I can travel to see the games now I have a job. Maybe Munster, Quins, Edinburgh, Montpellier - I'd fancy we could get out of the pool and there are 3 nice weekends away.

I would love Bath as well.
I do like when we get a London team but it's not great for atmosphere after wards as the fans are too spread out.
that's unless we hang out in Richmond. But Hughies sofas are a cheaper and more fun obvious.
I would like a french time with 1. easy access to and 2. a bit of culture to the place.
That bloody attacker fella is still floating around the area. Another girl attacked now.

Mickyt - that's not good news about another girl attacked. I hope they get the attacker asap, people like that make me feel sick.

Yeh it was disgusting. he broke her jaw and she had a kid with her.
it was only the screams of the kid that alerted passers by, but he was gone then.
This was in broad daylight as well not too forget.

Micky - this is the first bit of news I've seen about the attacks:
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2011/0602/breaking47.html
I mean it's not getting much coverage. Also they reckon they haven't received other reports, but that could be victims just aren't going to the police.

He had better hope the police get to him 1st, rather than all the angry husbands, boyfriends and connected families out there.
I believe in Justice, but Id wait half an hour, to ring the police, if he did it to any of mine... just to have a quiet word like.

Oh yeah. Id take that Mick. Seen the Rec "wrecked" and Edinburgh stormed, but never been to Montpellier.
Id love Treviso too. I cant remember the last time we got an Italian team. And now, they are so much stronger.
Put it this way, it is nigh on impossible for us to get as tricky a group as we did last year. That was taking de pish.
