The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I hope you feel better soon Cari, I'm not too good on health advice but one thing my mam always tells me to do when I'm feeling poorly is to drink lots of water, so I'll recommend you do that.

Gibbo, read that blog I posted. The only way we get an Italian team is by getting Clermont and Sarries! I wouldn't want it that way!!

Ah Bless Cari. Here's a cwyth from me too.
I feel like shoite, so I am trying to kill it with a drop of Rava's poteen.
This bug has NO chance now.
Speaking of did any of ye see the new rule, in a school in England, where cuddles are banned?
Man, that is sooo phooked up.

Evening.
Whassup Cari? Still got wimmins probs?
I've had a cold this week that's wrecked my head, especially in work. Anyway, what's the consensus on Wales' chances against the Baa baas? They are fielding a bit more experience than England. Gonna be a close one I feel.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hound - it is going to be close match I think, but for me we're still going to have the issue with slow ball with Phillips at 9 (yes I know it's not all down to him but he hasn't played for a couple of months now!) add to that we have an untried and not fully match fit centre partnership....
I won't be surprised if we lose this one, I just hope those that have been given a chance to prove themselves really step up and show us what they've got. And I want an entertaining game of rugby! Not holding my breath on that though after seeing how Wales have been playing for the last couple of years.

Story Hound?
The Baa-Baas have a really decent team out. Eeesa.Eeesa. But Wales should expect to beat them. I just hope the tradition shines through and we get a great game of running-rubgy.
Could someone post the Welsh team please? I know it has been discussed in here already, but I'm doing a Micky T, here.

I'll be interested in how the back row of Lydiate, Warburton and Faletau get on. There's a lot of nous in that Baa baas back row. Good contest that one
Not much of a story Gibbo tbh. Looking forward to the rugby this weekend - the Baa baas, Saxons and, the highlight for me, the T14 final. I've backed Toulouse all the way, and I think they will have way too much for a Montpellier team that can be proud of their season.

On that blog Mick posted, our best case scenario is the same group as last year- that would be very boring. I like getting different teams each year. I would quite like Treviso, London Irish and Toulouse.

Strong backrow. Toby F. has been in brilliant form. Delighted he's starting. So talented. Back 3 will cause problems and they will have the space to do it ina game like this. Big George, Stoddart & Brew.
So many Scarlets in the 22. Eight. 5 from Dragons. Cardiff Blues with only 2? Times are changing from the days of 13 Ospreys also. The Welsh power-base is shifting. ;-)
BTW, is Unattached an Italian club? I hope he goes well. He needs to grasp this and let his rugby do the talking.

"So many Scarlets in the 22"
Man, I've just seen an old mate I haven't seen for a while. Martin - aka 'Taff' - Scarlets through and through (although his main love is Chelsea). Discussed the Scarlets in the squad and he's very happy with the youngsters coming through there.
The Rev may have 'trucked' his young lad to Iraq - he's done about 3 tours. Was always pleased when he made it back
Happy days.

Besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?
We could get Leicester, Ospreys and Racing Metro I suppose.

Nice one Hound.
Yes. Its great to see Scarlets being rewarded for last season. We could see a mass of them on during the course of the game.
If I was on any Tour, Id have the Rev as backup - anyday.

I was confident of beating the Barbarians, but having now seen the lineups I am not so sure. Our front row could be targetted and I am not sure how Phillips will play. Love our backrow and delighted there is a better balance to the side in terms of regional representation (though lets face it, at least two maybe three of the five Dragons will probably not make future matchday 22's).

Exactly. Its the HC. And, if you draw them - it's only Ulster. So feck roysh off with that underdog shoite.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
London Irish are a team I'd like to get. I feel we have a score to settle after this seasons defeat in the Madjeski. Or Harlequins, they would be put to the full vigours of Thomond Park. Not alone did the players under perform, the crowd did too when the team needed us most I think drawing Ospreys would make for an interesting pool as would Saints. Both of them will have unfinished business with us.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Bath have unfinished business with Ulster- no-one beats Bath five times in a row! Is what I assume they say.

I think this is a fabulous competition, but I have one gripe. You only meet three other teams in the group stage. There is no time to build all but the most cursory of rivalries. I'd love to draw Bath every year and get the dolly tied to the posts like the good old days, but we never do. It's so frustrating.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I don't know about that. Ulster have a real rivalry with Stade Francais. Played 11- Ulster have won 5, Stade 6. I'd love a chance to turn that around but alas they did not make it.
I'd say Ospreys and Leicester have developed a real rivalry, and a few others as well.

Isn't that a good thing? As you already play all of those teams... personally I groan a little when we draw another Magners League team. 4 games is slight overkill. I much prefer the interest of facing new sides each year!
