Thanks, JimBob - even though you didn't give me a #ITK for Kapil!

Cheers, JimBob.
I suppose if Meaker wasn't going to make the XI, no one would have dared again include him in the squad and then tell him to do drinks duties! Reckon he'll play in next week's CC match at Northants though.
Pretty sure Burke is there to get a flavour of the first team, can't see him playing on Friday. Harder to predict the other 2 to miss out, Burns may be one. Wouldn't be surprised if Foakes kept and Wilson played as a batter.

Surrey win toss and bowl.
As above, Burke and Burns miss out but so also does Foakes and so Wilson keeps.
You there, JimBob?

Yeah Guildford the crucial moment was a one handed catch by Batty off Dunn no ball called ingram was on 14 at the time

The ground fielding has been abysmal.

You do have to question selection sometimes
Solanki over Foakes is a real head scratcher

Re: surrey vs glamorgan friday15th & Essex Eagles saturday 16th NATWEST T20 BLAST
Thanks for the updates, JimBob - sorry it wasn't a better evening for you!
I was out with the family so didn't see or follow the game at the time. However, from looking at cricinfo it's clear that Batty (0/2), Curran (1/6), Riaz (0/3) and Kapil (1/4) all had good first overs. What happened next? They were all immediately taken off and replaced, only to come back later (bar Kapil who never got another over) to get tonked! I've said before that there's a danger to his own side in a fielding captain trying to be too clever in constantly juggling things around. Rhythm is important to a bowler and if he finds it straight away, there's normally a good case for keeping him on and looking to cash in further.

Why did Batty take off Kapil after he took 1-4 in 1 over and then bowl himself again? Awful captaincy (again).

I'm not really sure why batty is captain/in the side (considering I'm coming in fresh this season as a fan)
He isn't a really great wicket taker, captaincy seems average at best - surely we have better candidates?

And if they select Solanki over Foakes today especially, I'll lose some faith

Wish the lad good luck although am not convinced. I popped along for an hour on Tuesday to the home of cricket (Woodbridge Road, Guildford ) and saw him get a wicket for the seconds but also heard the comment from one regular that ''he looks like a club bowler''. I didn't see enough to properly judge but I could see where the guy's comment was coming from - straight up and down with no apparent swing and not that much pace.
To be fair, Burke is probably as much a batsman as a bowler. Bit in the mould of Tom Jewell who some may remember had a nightmare at the People's Republic of Chelmsford a couple of years ago!

Plenty on the board so far - 128/3 off 12. However, with the short boundaries and our bowling we are going to need them!

171/4 off 17. Runs haven't exactly dried up but we've lacked acceleration in the last 5 overs and have fallen away a bit .... need to be looking for another 40 off the last 3 overs ....

205/5 off our 20.
Essex pegged it back well whilst our late middle order didn't build enough on the good start. Not convinced that will be enough. We'll certainly need to take a few wickets to contain them.

Unlike last night as per our distinguished pitch side reporter JimBob, a good bowling and fielding performance to pull off a comfortable win in the end.
Burkey may be ''a club bowler'' but he showed great character to keep calm and mix it up. Deserved his wickets.
I didn't agree with Tendo trying to go it alone in the closing overs and declining singles. Essex were only 6 down at that stage and needed every run they could get. Poor cricket and captaincy. If you can't back your number 8, he shouldn't be playing.
