Always thought mulumbu was a decent player at mid table level- any particular reason he has been released?

I don't get why arsenal fans do these stupid poll hijacks. Really isn't funny in the slightest.

Agree, Ent. Surprised mulumbu has been released, but the word is that Pulis wants Jedinak, so something must be in the pipeline. Always thought mulumbu did a good, reliable job & will be a steal for someone in the PL.

Mulumbu will be absolutely fine. Can see Stoke, Palace, Leicester, Villa, Newcastle, Sunderland all being interested. Be good for us for some depth too. And all the promoted teams. Seems an odd one to me.

Don't think its a hijack, more that Arsenal have a large following on Twitter/Facebook. Likewise, whenever there's a public vote on Sky Sports, Liverpool tend to do disproportionately well. Not sure why people are getting so upset about these glorified popularity contests.

Advocatt leaves Sunderland. Knew that would happen, to old to take it over full time, Job well done and can leave with his head held high.
Hopefully Sean Dyche can remain in the Prem with them.

Wages apparently. On 35k, one of our highest paid players, but would have been a back-up behind Yacob and Fletcher, and we can't really afford to carry that on our wage bill. And in fairness, got years of great service out of him for 150k fee, so if he wanted regular football, I'm glad we agreed to let him go.
Like you said, he should have plenty of options.

Probably not good enough to play for them, especially if they are investing this summer. He also didn't seem desperate to stay.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
To be honest, you immediately think it's a disgraceful act by the club to release Jonas & I see that point, however, him & Ryan were expected to leave anyway, so at least Jonas can now go out on a true high & be remembered as a hero, instead of slipping out the back door at the end of next season, seeing as he's not going to play, as we move forward. Prior to the WHU game, it's clear Jonas wasn't of a good enough standard anymore, so I can see where the club are coming from. As for Ryan, injuries have ruined him & again another decision that although difficult, needed to be done.

Rio has officially retired, was for me between 2006-2011 the best defender in England and one of the very best in the world, his partnership with Vidic will live long in the memories of Man United fans.

Yeah, top defender was Rio, probably should of gone after leaving United, instead of leaving kind of out the back door & amongst the shambles of QPR

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Think Sky have just got excited because it's Vieira, sure Newcastle have had talks with McClaren & a the Guingamp manager. I don't think PV would settle for being a puppet under Ashley, doesn't fit with his character.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Interesting that Vieira is the bookies favourite. McClaren is just second, but I think hes the most likely. 5/4 is a good price compared to 1/2 for Vieira

Because he's meant to be a role model?
Rooney gets dragged over hot coals when he publicly swears in the heat of the moment, Wilshere leads a crowd into singing an expletive riddled song with large numbers of kids in attendance.

Ok
1. If Jack Wilshere is your role model you need to assess your life
2. If you're taking your kid to football/football related things like a celebration you should probably be prepared for some swearing

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
1. Generally people that look to role models are children, not quite if children under the age of 10 need to assess their life quite yet.
2. Why should it be the norm to accept swearing at football? That it's considered okay as part of the lad culture, one of the things I utterly despise about the modern game, when you do go to other sporting events and the fans are singing offensive songs, but all a bit of banter so just tell your kids to put their hands over their ears.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
From my experience most kids by the age of ten know all the swear words to begin with. It is up to the parent to keep them from using it at understanding appropriate conduct. Wishere was probably still drunk from the night before. It is football if you take your kid to a match you are probably going to hear the same thing.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I never swore as a child, I never swore in front of my parents even when I became an adult, they never swore in front of me and neither my wife nor I swear in front of our children.
If you go to other sporting events you don't expect the crowd to start using offensive language yet it's part of the culture amongst football fans. It used to be part of the culture to have a fight after the game, it used to be part of the culture that it was okay to use sexist/racist abuse at a game, thankfully that for the most part has been dealt with, I just wish clubs would take more of a hardline with swearing being that they heavily promote football being a family event.

You hear swearing all the time in all sports, just the way it is.

Can't recall the last time at snooker world finals when the crowd started the chant of 'the referee's a w**ker!', or at Wimbledon where the crowd join in unison telling Nadal to get a f**king move on with his intentional time delays between serves?

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I think there should be respect given to people's views on swearing in family enclosures. But that is where I draw the line. I will not spend my life bowing down to what people claim they are offended by. I've already had to do that today and I'm not happy about it. Swearing in football has been around long before "lad culture" as we know it existed. Before "lads" were having "banter" at the football I was taught about songs and swearing that go on there. It was made very apparent the line that was crossed when using those words in public.
You can try and hide from things if you want, but swearing is a part of the modern world. If they don't hear it at football they'll hear it at school, at the park, with friends. At the football with a parents there is a chance for some control, understanding and context.
Swearing itself is not offensive. It shows no lack of vocabulary. The high horse brigade can't win every battle.

Been discussed already. The manner in which they did it was a disgrace, but it was the right decision. Media hyping it up because of Jonas' cancer & one goal vs WHU. Taylor can **** off acting all badly treated, the club backed & supported him through two blown knee injuries & couldn't afford to keep paying him millions for no game time. They knew they weren't being offered deals deep down, probably why they are already on the coaching courses in Ireland.
