And thats a dive, luckily I think Henderson realises as he starts going down so gets himself up. I can fully live with someone realising their mistake.

Find that out from a Mark Chapman retweet? Haha I just saw that on twitter and was amazed, both impressed and worried.

Glad it was given, not a fan of that rule either.
If someone is offside and moves to kick the ball then surely they should be offside?
Understand what your saying, could do with changing the rule, he was offside but didn't score.
Benteke was on side and scored.
Think it should be on the player that actually scores.
No doubt we will have a few of those goals against us this season, so i must remember to not moan

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Can understand what Rodgers is going for, starting with the exact same line up that got the win against Stoke. However, I came away from that match thinking we won it IN SPITE of Lovren/Lallana playing. Noway should either be on, and they prove it with their first half performances. Brutal.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
To be fair, apart from the initial 10 mins, Liverpool have been well on top. Referee has made a few mistakes, but based on the game itself I think 1-0 is pretty much fair enough. Coutinho has been fantastic, think he's a contender for player of the year this year, adding more dimensions to his game all the time, controlling from a bit deeper this game.
Good to see Benteke get his first goal, always important to get it early I feel.

After two clean sheets; Chris Smalling is my pick for player of the year.
The new offside interpretation seems perfectly reasonable to me, any player in an offside position who affects the defence in any way should be called for offside.

I'm sorry didn't we have a big thread about making predictions on this very board, including one question for 'Player of the Year'. That's all it was, a prediction, based on a multitude of factors such as his form at the end of last season, two good games this year, being one more year older which at his age usually comes with improving, being a bigger part of the side with Sterling and Gerrard gone. It's not at all ridiculous to suggest he has a shout at being Player of the Year, he was nominated for it last year.
I also don't think it's unfair to say that Liverpool deserved to be ahead based on the first half, Bournemouth were good initially but over the half Liverpool took control and Bournemouth just weren't getting forward.

20 people said who they thought would be Player of the Year before a ball had been kicked, but me saying it a couple of games in is somehow more ridiculous?

If you had said in 2015 it wouldn't of been so bad but your comment made it sound like these 1st 2 games only...Also just cos you have control doesn't mean you deserve to be 1-0 up if that was the case Arsenal get hard done by on a weekly basis.
Theirs are a prediction though yours doesn't appear to be.

Who deserves to be ahead on the balance of play (no such thing) and who should be ahead were it not for two poor refereeing decisions are different things. Bournemouth deserve to be ahead and there's not really any way that can be disputed.

I don't know it could have been taken as anything other than a prediction. I didn't realise I had to clarify that it wasn't based on 2 games, I assumed that would be taken for granted.
I just think Liverpool have played fairly well and Bournemouth may have been hard done by with the refereeing decisions but unfortunately that happens and I think Liverpool have done a decent job of keeping them under wraps.

More than welcome to mate, the only thing that counts is what the score says in the top left hand corner at the end of the day.

Except the latter doesn't exist either. Refereeing decisions change games, and had Bournemouth scored after 5 mins the game would have been totally different, Liverpool may have pushed on harder to score. It's a completely hypothetical position. In general though, in football, people do discuss the balance of play and generally in football results do follow the balance of play, hence why the biggest teams have to have the most possession. Obviously it is not a concrete rule, but as a general rule it is actually pretty accurate.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
If those decisions had been the other way around, which does happen, no team is exempt from poor decisions, this forum wouldn't be complaining as much. I get that Bournemouth are popular because they're smaller club with a good manager and a decent philosophy but I can't guarantee with the positions switched the Liverpool fans would be told to suck it up.

Those decisions wouldn't be reversed that's the point, they only went the way they did because it's Bournemouth against Liverpool, not in a million years do City, Chelsea or Arsenal have that goal disallowed.

It's an absolute myth that smaller clubs are hard done by. Bad refereeing happens to every club at every level. There have been plenty of times where bad decisions have made against big clubs.

Basically. A bad decision that denies Man Utd is analysed to death on SSN and others. Against West Brom its a footnote.

Bournemouth mugged of a point, at least, by some poor officiating; similar to Palace yesterday.
A long season for Liverpool awaits, I think. They certainly won't hit top four this season.

Decent from Liverpool, still struggling to put away chances but already look more creative than last year and people actually getting into the box. 3 points is 3 points and Bournemouth were unlucky with decisions but that's life unfortunately.
Hopefully Can will start against Arsenal, don't fancy a midfield of Henderson and Milner being able to protect the back four.
