Stop fishing you tart.
You tell me anything there is wrong with that comment Hampo?
2 shots on target out of 18 = p*ss poor
Get an offside goal
Bournemouth harshly having a goal ruled out
Can call it a good performance all you like it, It wasn't at all

Well that was poor. Draw certainly would have been the fair result. Several players NEED to be dropped for arsenal. Lovren and Lallana specifically. Wasn't impressed with Firminho either, didn't look interested in defending on several occasions. Certainly not ready to be a starter.
On a more positive note, 2 wins from 2 when you haven't actually played very well is the best you could possibly hope for. Hopefully the team are more motivated for Arsenal, because much of that match Bournemouth just wanted it more.

Arsenal haven't exactly lit up the league!(Seem to recall them getting abused by West Ham at the emirates little more than a week ago). Think we will do just fine at the emirates, expect a much better performance than tonight at the very least..

I'd edge towards arsenal next week but impressed with benteke. Looks a good buy and should have had 2 to his name
Tonight. Think he'll cause a few problems next week for kos and per. Bournemouth should have had a point with the goal obviously offside. Ritchie looked good again, think he's a real talent and Wilson looks lively.

Genuinely shocked aswell to see so many people on the forum/twitter/Facebook etc writing off liverpools top 4 challenge after 2 games (that they have won). Looked about as impressive as United/Chelsea/Arsenal so far (as in not very impressive).

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Benteke does look good. Coutinho has done his usual in the two games, couple of striking moments mean his other poor play is completely ignored. Hes not even in the same league as Mata and Silva, in fact this season he isnt in the same league as Payet yet.
I'd say thats a fair analysis. Happens in football, bad decisions and grinding out wins.
Bournemouth will probably have to get used to fine performances not resulting in three points though, teams in this league are smarter in defence and also more comfortable letting teams do nothing dangerous in front of them. I still predict they'll beat us next week, its nailed.

No, have to say something. Complete tosh. Clearly got something against him, he's been pretty classy in both games & was good last year too. Not in the same league as Mata is just embarrassing, Coutinho is basically carrying Liverpool, Mata has done nothing extraordinary, other than the performance at Anfield last season, you can't point out Coutinho's poor plays & ignore the countless poor balls Mata played, hence why he was moved to the right, instead of in the hole, where he just hit pointless balls over the top, as Ent tirelessly pointed out each week. The Payet comment, just showcases the bias you have. I like Payet, looks quality, but Coutinho has produced in this league over a far bigger time frame, not just two games. You also stated Kaboul was a quality signing, so your judgement is rather questionable. Sorry, DZ.

Completely disagree. First, I said this season about Payet, and I would stand by the fact Payet has been class in both games and produced in both games, throughout the 90 minutes and in telling moments.
The Mata comment I also standby, who has shown over a bigger timeframe (if you wanna go there I will) that he is a creative genius behind strikers. It was him who opened up Villa the few times they were on friday night, and his intelligent passing cutting inside is actually a reason I quite like Mata on the right, he drifts in and has great angles for passing. Coutinho: 82 games 14 goals, Mata 50 games 15 goals. That stat ignores his time as Chelsea's best player.
Kaboul is at Sunderland, a team who are going to languish around the bottom. For what they are, for the performances he has put in in his career, then I think he will come to be a good signing. Hard to judge him after two games in a team that every single player is playing awful. Very hard to make an impact as a signing when basically everyone in the team is low on morale and play awful. Even if I'm wrong on that I'd like to see every comment youve made and whether I can trust any judgement based on one decision!

I do think coutinho is a good player but he needs to step up this season now. He's below mata, although he doesn't have the flair of silva his stats don't lie and he's contributed a shed load of goals and assists for us. Silva is the best midfielder in the league IMO. Coutinho is inconsistent for me, but hopefully it will change this year and he can reach the next level, which he can easily do with the talent he possesses.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I'd be very interested in Eddie Howe's fitness regimes for his players. Lee Tomlin looks like he wouldn't be out of place on a Sunday League pitch, same goes for a few of them. I know Andy Reid had issues but jeez.
I watched the game with a few mates who are Liverpool fans, and one of them (the type who cried when they 'lost' the league) said he hasn't seen anything of Liverpool yet that says they are going to do much this year. In some ways I agree, but Liverpool do tend to come on in the second half of the year so grinding these results out now is a good thing. Stoke away and Bournemouth at home could've gone badly for them, especially how they finished last season. Arsenal will be a proper test for them.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Liverpool have started slowly every year under Rodgers but it's interesting to note the last time we started slowly but still ground out 1-0 wins early on was the 13/14 season which then lead to a boost of confidence later on. Also as bad as our run of away games is, at least that means they're out of the way early leaving for a good second half. I'm not expecting 13/14 levels this year but I don't think Liverpool are as far from the top four as has been made out in some quarters. Played just as well if not better than Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham at this point. I'm not sure why Liverpool are being singled out as having no chance of top four.

Havent played better than Manchester United, the fact that United pretty much haven't given away more than one chance in two games, compared to Liverpool scraping through a couple, shows different levels even with 1-0's.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Liverpool have no chance of top four because their squad is too weak.
Overly reliant on Sturridge and Benteke for goals - not a good recipe for a top four chasing team - too one-dimensional in attack, creativity is limited to whatever Coutinho, Lallana and Firmino can bring (not very much over than the occasional dribs and drabs), and the defence is particularly lacklustre.
Good enough for fifth, though.

Whilst I wouldn't be confident in Liverpool getting top four, I don't think thats particularly fair, Doots. Benteke gives them a different dimension than they've had for a good while, whilst Coutinho can be a touch overrated he does bring plenty of creativity, and Lallana in contrast seems massively underrated at times and does bring plenty too. Firmino needs to be given some time, whilst Henderson and Milner will both have their moments. Ibe too needs time as a young player, but at the very least offers pace and drive.

What a load of nonsens. Squad is too weak? Well, that accounts for United too, then, who have issues in defence, one striker who looks burnt out already & a world class goalkeeper, about to leave. Overly reliant upon Sturridge & Benteke for goals????? Yes, that's what club are reliant upon, strikers scoring goals United have.........Rooney, that's about it. Creativity limited to Coutinho, Lallana & Fiminho.........and????? that's three quality creative forces, what other club has more than three or four quality creative players, not many. Defence is weak? Well, they've achieved two clean sheets & is arguably of a similar standard to United's, which still needs strengthening. Basically, all your points were pretty much nonsense.
Liverpool can achieve the top 4.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
1) Overly reliant on Sturridge and Benteke for goals - Indeed. The first is injury-prone, and has struggled visibly since the loss of Suarez, whilst the latter has only scored 13 and 10 goals in the last two Premier League seasons. There won't be a great amount of goals from midfield.
2) Creativity limited to Coutinho, Lallana and Firmino - Inconsistent, inconsistent and unproven.
3) Defence is weak - Yes. Skrtel is just willing himself to concede a penalty. Lovren is a liability. Mignolet is a worry in goal, particularly from crosses. Two clean sheets?
Against Stoke and Bournemouth.
Best start necking the champers pronto!
United will improve (they've got two clean sheets as well!) over this season. Darmian looks a quality acquisition, Smalling is beginning to show reliability, and hopefully Shaw can underline some of his potential this season. Goals from Depay, Rooney, Pedro etc.
If Liverpool hit top four...it just won't happen. I reckon Tottenham might have a better chance.

Leicester! Yes.
The last time they lost a Premier League game was last April, and it was a Wednesday, so it doesn't really count.
They must be awfully good. Not losing a Premier League game for half a year.

I'm actually quite happy with our squad to be honest.(Especially since I expect to see one or two more new faces before the window closes). Only sore point for me is that I would want to see a new CB if anything was to be added, but it looks more likely that we will be signing a new CM or Wide man (or both).

The one thing I'll give LVG credit for is restoring (at least partially) the aura they had under Fergie where despite the actual team being relatively cack, you'd still back them to win most games. For Liverpool, you feel as though every team (except Norwich), could get a result against them without it being a major shock.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
watched both liverpool games this season and bar one great strike against stoke not seeing why all the fuss about coutinho, looked bright and flashy at stages then disappeared. liverpool barely had any shots on goals in both games so far and dont look like scoring much. surely as liverpool's "best" player and playing in that creative role they should have done more if he had been playing so well?
mata is the complete opposite, disappears for long period of games but always seems to nip in with assists and goals. he comfortably outscored him in the league last season yet countinho was being banded about as a player of the year. think his ability of scoring eye catching goals is gaining him more plaudits than he deserves. needs to impact games for 90 minutes a lot more often, just watch how much silva creates for city over coutinho. its leagues aparts

Same defence and midfield two for all three games so far, we'll start to be more defensively sound if we can keep this stability in place.

Have a feeling City will win the league at a canter, with the motivation & determination to put last season firmly behind them. They have signed well, Sterling will stretch opposition & give Aguero/Silva even more freedom, throw in a rejuvenated Yaya & Kompany & I see them doing what Chelsea did last season. United haven't addressed the main issues, Chelsea have stagnated & Arsenal are Arsenal, with clear issues up front & in protecting that defence.

If the Aguero/Silva axis stays fit and fires for 75% of the season it's going to be hard to see anyone stopping them, Kompany looks like he's near to his imperious best.
