Jason Roy wins the match. Cracking innings and a fascinating game.

Overall, a fine and battling performance from Surrey, the result especially commendable considering we only had two front line fast bowlers for most of the match.

The bar is open guys. (You'll have to excuse the mess though as there are builders in the barracks!)

'especially commendable' also as:
1/ we lost a potentially crucial toss - the pitch was never going to get easier for batting
2/ two of our young hopefuls played key roles - #ansariforengland and Le Roy
3/ we didn't rely on an overseas Galactico (a rare x2 failure for Sanga)
4/ only Sanga and Interesting came to Surrey as proven talents, the rest were either 'home grown' or returnees (Norah) and
5/ we discovered a Superstar night watchman in Clive

It was against Lancs (although at Guildford) that Pietersen hammered a double ton and ripped Kerrigan apart.
Suspect that will put your masterplan of Ansari moving down the order on hold, JimBob. I'm assuming Sibley will drop out. If so, difficult to see who else could move up to partner Burns.
Guess Norman Stanley will be back in the prison hospital. Meaker, Burkey and maybe the Viscount will be hoping to be in contention for Sunday.

Second thoughts.
Mind you, JimBob, I don't know when Sanga is unavailable - that would allow Sibley back in.

Whatever his cricketing future holds, it'll be wonderful for Clive to be able to look back on the times he batted with Pietersen and Sangakkara.

Thanks, JimBob. That's the match at Guildford. Sanga will be pig sick to miss that.
One thing Alec Stewart is really impressive about when he speaks is his instant knowledge of fixtures and dates together with any expected unavailability of players. I'll see if I can get him to spill any beans on Monday.

Re: SURREY VS KENT LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
A belated first post of the summer for me! Great win for Surrey today against one of our bogey teams... What a contrast with our previous efforts against Kent in recent years! Not working this afternoon so spent a very nervous 45mins of so listening to the commentary online! Great batting from Roy...lots to be cheerful about me thinks without getting too carried away... Sounded like a great bowling performance from Ansari... corporal...did you get to any of the day's play?

Re: SURREY VS KENT LV=COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP
Hi Chichester - no I didn't get to this match, but I agree that it gives considerable cause for optimism - not least with "Clive" Dunn, Curran and Ansari all starting to form an effective bowling "unit" as Church would say.

Hi Corporal, hope the builders in the barracks are doing their stuff...What about the big screen TV? Hope that is working better than the one at the Bull?

Chichester - as it happens our TV is out of action as well - but hopefully we're coping with that situation better than Kenton at the Bull! Building works going well at the moment - on or even ahead of schedule so far.

And people say I risk jinxing things!
Corporal & Chichester - PM to follow.
