Berdys BH is at 25% cause of the back, Tsonga attacking that side.

Tsonga fails to serve out the match but has a mini-break in the TB.

Oh dear Tsonga, what have you done? I would not be shocked if Berdych wins it now.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 8
At the business end of that set Berdych was fed hope from Tsonga and then played the bigger points better. If Berdych takes this fourth set he must be favourite for the match. Does that now mean time for Federer V Monfils?

Tsonga is losing the plot while Berdych is now playing quite well.

I think they can still get maybe 3.5 hours of play or maybe even a bit more today. So, if weather is holding up, Federer Monfils should be able to at least start their match.CaledonianCraig wrote:Does that now mean time for Federer V Monfils?

Good to hear. It is a nightmare when weather screws up schedules.

Tsonga is not hitting with any power in his shots.. I think he is tiring
Not finding the length and missing the lines. More poor play by Jo, rather than any better play by Berdy

Stan was never a break up in the second set. 2-1 Simon (yet to earn a bp).

Yep, he very nearly had the job done in comfortable straights.
But a classic case of it isn't over till the last point - and one of the reasons Slam tennis over five always has potential for something different for the spectator than Bo3 matches - and why, for me, women's tennis can never be as engaging as men's.
JWT seemingly back on track now ......

My bad, I had had a quick glance at the scoreboard and must have misread it. Maybe wishful thinking on my part.LuvSports! wrote:Stan was never a break up in the second set. 2-1 Simon (yet to earn a bp).

Berdych is the biggest casualty so far as the no 4th seed. Seeds 1-3 and 5-9 are still in.

I daren't lookk at that match due to those hideous boxer shorts worn by Stan.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 8
Hopefully weather will hold up and Federer and Monfils get to play at least a significant chunk of their match - if not all of it.
The fourth round is the first time where all big 4 have opponents that can test them enough to see what form they really are in, but I think Fed is the only one that can realistically lose.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 8
I actually think this is the hardest last sixteen match that any of the main contenders could have had
It will be interesting to see if the slow, but stilted, improvement in Monfils is the real deal
I still think and it's understandable given his age, Roger is the most vulnerable to one of the underachievers deciding to show up
Roger in 5!!

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 8
Monfils a respectable 4-8 vs Federer and won their last two, which were on clay.
2-4 on clay, 2-4 on hard.
0-3 at RG with only 1 set.

First set to Federer inside half an hour - 6-3. I wouldn't rule him out of wrapping this up tonight.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 8
Very unlikely that Monfils v Fed will be wrapped up tonight, and were it to be stopped at, say, 1 set apiece then - at risk of stating the obvious - it becomes a Bo3 tomorrow, and a very different proposition than a Bo5 played normally.
Good start by Fed, but I took 12/5 on a Monfils win and still feel my money is fairly safe. Federer's (recent) history of poor BP conversion overall gives me little confidence in him when it comes to the more meaningful clashes these days. I put it down to declining mental focus as the years inevitably catch up.
