No, straights for Stan is what we want! Get Novak and Andy underway before the rain comes!slashermcguirk wrote:Come on tsonga, take the tie break. Need to extend this match so I can get home for the other match :-)

Stan certainly seems more heat-effected than Jo. He looked very flat in that tie-breaker. Tsonga right back in this now at one set all.

Well I have a doc's appointment at 4.30 and I cannot cancel so looks sure I'll miss some part of the start. This match looks like it has at least another hour of play in it, probably at the moment I'd say Djokovic and Murray may start around 4pm (UK time).

Smart move by these two. Go very long and trust the weather to move Djokovic / Murray to tomorrow, let them slug it out for 6 hours and return on Sunday with an edge.

This biblical weather business, are we headed for a washout or is it expected to pass quite quickly?

Latest update is that a storm is expected at 6pm local time, 5pm UK time.
Djoko v Murray virtually certain to be interrupted.
Idiotic decision not to play them at the same time on Lenglen.

Can Wawrinka play a better TB this time?

Tsonga is playing safe, attacking tennis that won't work against Murray or Djoko but is tiring and frustrating stan.

Bound to have been a better tiebreak from Stan this time and it's enough to give him a two sets to one lead. Tsonga seems very defensive in the bits I've seen. Just waiting for either a Stan winner or loser.

That set ended up as a bit of a steal for Stan. Seemed to have gone into his shell, but managed to raise his game when it mattered most. The crowd is disappointingly flat. I was expecting a much more febrile atmosphere.

Re: French Open 2015 Day 13 - Let's get ready to mumble....
This is ridiculously poor scheduling.
Sunset in Paris is 21:49. It's currently 16:25.
If Stan and Jo go to 5 sets, there's no way Novak and Andy start much before 18:00.
Why cut it so close, especially when there is bad weather in the area?

Yes, one can't help but wonder how they'd approach it if there wasn't a Frenchman in the first SF...kingraf wrote:HM Murdoch wrote:This is ridiculously poor scheduling.

Djokovic v Murray could be put on Lenglen. What a bad decision in scheduling.

Re: French Open 2015 Day 13 - Let's get ready to mumble....
This from the BBC feed:
"I was speaking to someone in the canteen who said that once it starts raining it won't stop this evening. If that is the case, then it is likely that Andy Murray against Novak Djokovic will almost certainly finish on Saturday.
"If the rain does prevent Murray v Djokovic reaching a conclusion, the organisers will put the conclusion of that semi-final on a before the women's final tomorrow, probably at 12:00 BST."
and
"On a sunny evening you can play until about 21:45 local time (20:45 BST) in Paris. But if the clouds roll in then, the light would die away well before that."
What absolute cretins the schedulers are.

Wonder if this scheduling malarkey could favour Andy. Could make Novak more twitchy, as he's more likely to have one eye on the final.

Of course, it could just focus the mind and make Novak all the more determined to take no prisoners.

I'm not sure if it favours one over the other but it does treat them both like carp.Aut0Gr4ph wrote:Wonder if this scheduling malarkey could favour Andy. Could make Novak more twitchy, as he's more likely to have one eye on the final.
The French Open is such a wretchedly poor slam.
Half empty stadia that fall down on the crowd, terrible security, the worst atmosphere, crowds that are more bothered about a glass of wine with lunch than getting to the stadium for the start of a match, and now incompetent scheduling.

Possibly, but I've got money on Wawrinka being a multi slam champion. I was denied in Melbourne, and didn't think I'd be in with a chance at many returns so soon. So, this is really best case scenario for me!

And the crowd insists on making strange noises at random moments. I wonder if the oohs and aahs at Wimbledon sound equally weird to a Frenchie.

17:00 local time.
If the weather holds, we may get the second SF done today.
Unless they go all AO11/USO12 on us, then they're stuffed.
