French Open 2015 - Day 14
First topic message reminder :
There's a final. There's the end of a semi-final. There's doubles and boys, girls and old people playing. Probably.

Novak cracks and Andy will serve for the 4th. Was not expecting that. Time to grab your coat HMM?

So very, very predictable.
Take the free towel, Novak, and get yourself back to Monaco. You've let it go again.

The inability to defend break points bring a sense of inevitability to proceedings.CaledonianCraig wrote:HM Murdoch wrote:So very, very predictable.

Well it happens. Often that has been Andy's failing in these match-ups. Largely, always comes down to who plays the crunch points better.

Murray takes the fourth set. We go to a decider.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 14
So a final set shootout we have. In his wildest dreams, don't think Andy could have played a more solid 6 games than that. Still make Novak favourite in the decider, but boy is the pressure on him now.

Right, that's it from me. I'm off to the shops.
This will go down as a worse loss and missed opportunity than 2013. At least Novak wasn't the favourite and 2-0 up in that year.

One thing now is that Andy can already take so much from this match going forward into the grass court season.

Odd given he's won the set, but I think Murray is hanging on here.
Maybe they both are!

That is akin to giving Novak a huge shot of confidence though through just a sloppy game. Disappointing.

No way back if Andy is broken again here. Keep it at one break down and it is still do able but still much Andy can take heart from for the weeks and months ahead.

Djokovic taking a ridiculous amount of time between points.

Re: French Open 2015 - Day 14
Djokovic will most likely give the break back. The break was won purely on opponent errors. 5 points - 5 errors. Finest exhibition of attrition tennis I have seen in years. The 5:53 AO comes to mind.

That's more like it. Andy must keep this competitive and there's got to be an outside chance Novak will implode.

And that confidence feeder Andy fed him has had the desired effect. Novak now looking rock solid at the moment and leads 4-1 in the fifth set.

Agree LF - very attritional from both. High drama but not the most exciting tennis as far as I am concerned. Makes me remember why I skipped their AO final.
