Deserved set 2, every return game it seemed he was pushing for the break. and getting close.
And deserves 1-1 on the balance of the 2 sets.

Fair after two sets. Nole was the better player in the first set and Stan in the second.
Stan is now looking more and more comfortable out there. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Cracking game that from Stan and it is the way to get sets off Novak. Hang in and hold serve and pounce on tightness from Novak which will come at the business ends of the set. One set all and game on.

Got back from replacing the Headlights just in time for Wawrinka to give me false hope.

sorry I was trying to post with copy and paste but it didn't work so I pasted something from earlier by mistake
I copy before I hit send so I can paste it back in when the internet inevitably crashes as I hit send on a long post

That was a stretch of I think 5 games on Nole's serve where Stan had BPs. He has too little to show for it.

well, most of the BPs missed were in set 2 which he won anyway. we will if the BP conversion costs him throughout the match though.

Yep, Djokovic not as sharp now. If Stan maintains focus, I think he can win this.Jahu wrote:Djoko starting to get lost.

Re: French Open Day 15. Let's get ready to crumble?...
The post I made which was lost was that Murray and Stan have been Novak's 2 hardest opponents based on only sets lost, followed by Kokkinakis that took 12 games, with Nadal, Nieminen and Muller level on 9 games each, and Gasquet on 6.

They said that he looks tired and then 20min later after sucking some of his secret juice from a pouch in his bag, he looks all good.

Re: French Open Day 15. Let's get ready to crumble?...
So when the tournament draw was made I kind of hoped the winner would come out of the tougher half, otherwise it would be unfair. And when today's match starting I was kind of siding with Djokovic still for the reasons I gave back on page 1.
But thinking about it a bit more:
Stan has already beaten Rafa on clay this season, has taken more games off Novak already in this match, and might have even beaten Rafa had they played.
He is playing at least as well (or better) than Murray did against Novak. Perhaps he could have beaten Murray.
Powered through the draw with 3 and 4 set matches. A straight sets dismissal of Federer is not to be sniffed at.
So they both equally deserve to be in the final or win it.
He who dares from here and with the break it looks 50/50 here. Clearly a match on!

Re: French Open Day 15. Let's get ready to crumble?...
Wow, Novak all over the show at present.
I knew there would be spells where he was tense, irritable and below his best because Stan is nailing it but this is dragging on a bit now.
The test for Stan will be when he begins to sense that the day could be his. Then we'll see how his nerves hold up.
The worrying thing for me is that I knew there would be periods where Stan is hard to break. But I'm surprised at how tough Novak is finding it to hold his own serve.
Ah, the frustrations of following Novak - always so close to brilliance, always so close to a meltdown.
