Fantastic Stan. What a display. He beats Djokovic to lift the title his second slam title and boy did he deserve it. Novak will be shell-shocked and the wait for the career grand slam goes on. For Stan what can you say - epic performance.

Brilliant performance and a fabulous result for Stan.
I love seeing players embrace a big occasion and Stan did that today. The better player by a distance.
I also find is frustrating seeing players underperform under pressure, and that was the case with Novak today.
I think he is becoming this generation's Lendl - great player, brilliant career but too many losses in slam finals to become a true "tier 1" great.

This will take a while to sink in. I was so certain that Nole would manhandle Stan in three very routine sets.
Amazing performance by Stan. He played like a #1 player today. The hold from 0-40 was so huge, He just would not crack.

I would say Novak shouldn't beat himself up too much as next year (if Rafa is not back in top form) he will have a great chance for that elusive career grand slam. Things conspired against him here such as the draw, the weather and Stan playing insane tennis. Commiserations to him and his fans on here but today belongs to Stan. Superb performance.

What did I just see?! I wanted Stan to win but deep down I didn't think he would. When it actually came to it I actually felt sorry for Novak and felt he really deserved it this year

Djokovic's chance in Paris is gone Craig. I'm perfectly happy for a player to win any match playing like Stan did.
Disappointing that Novak let himself a down a bit but, hey, the sun will rise again tomorrow and I'll still have to go to work!

Sometimes that is just the way it goes though. Stan could say its pay bck for their Australian Open epic which Stan lost and was really unlucky.

Delighted for Stan. Little bit gutted for Novak if I'm going to be honest. I was hoping to see a little bit of history today, and I think Novak deserves the career grandslam. I still think he will achieve it.
As for Stan, wow! That is box office tennis.

I'm still happy Stan got it, Rafa getting injured took away from his win. A bit like until Mauresmo won Wimbledon after winning Aus when Henin got injured, just puts a stamp on it

Re: French Open Day 15. Let's get ready to crumble?...
Wow Stan! Unbelievable! So many winners! He's now a two time slam winner, well done!
He has beaten Nadal, Fed and Djoko this clay season! Simply amazing!
Now we have a new rival for Djokovic! At least Stan plays an attacking power tennis that also comes with finesse at the net. This rivalry will certainly be more exciting than Djoko/Murray.
We have two Swiss players as FO champions now, both beating the players who beat Rafa in the earlier rounds. Congrats Stan!
Commies for Novak and his fans, it's not his day and not his FO title this year. He has to try again come next year. It makes us realize how difficult it is to win the career slam, make us appreciate Fed and Rafa more; not to mention the CYGS!

Novak blown away by the applause. I am like you Danny I think the career grand slam will come for him. A lot conspired against him this year. Fabulous from Stan though nobody can deny he did not deserve that.

Very close to it as he got a standing ovation that lasted about two or three minutes (and that is no exaggeration).

Wow! what can I say? This was truly a great final and I really thought Novak would push it to a fifth set.
Congrats to Stan on grand slam #2. He has beaten two giants of tennis en route to his slam achievements.
For Novak, I think he is mentally tough enough to bounce back and have a great rest of the season.

So marriageworks proved rubbish after all.
Will be interesting to see how Djokovic motivates himself now for the rest of the season. Doesn't he handle himself so much better in defeat than victory.
So no individual joined the career slammers today but now Stan and Andy have one between them!

The match hinged on 3-3 in the fourth. I though Novak had done it with the Stan volley. But blew the love fourth lead which decided it

Gotta correct myself here. It's actually not THAT surprising. He recently beat Nadal in a slam final NOBODY saw coming. Did it again beating the #1 against all odds. Besides, Stan was the junior RG champion in 2003. he always knew how to play on clay. it's just taken him more than a decade to win the men's final on the surface he'd always loved. So happy for him.
This is not Djokovic's last chance. Time on his side. He will have another go for a few more years to come.
