Good.
If he wants his title back he should rematch LM.
Guessing he might try WW.

No, he wasn't. Khan was a v good win but Lucas I had him losing until LM went half blind and after that he's been pretty rubbish. Should've lost his title in the next fight but got gifted, flattened a can and then scraped past a v average (when off the juice) 'gate-keeper' and nothing more.
His CV looks nice, I grant you, but I think he was far from special.

He beat Matty fair and square.....90% on here picked him to lose....The Khan win was also excellent......
Most fighters get a gift at least once in their careers...............
Think compared to other fighters around this guy is/was a decent champion.........
Think you're being harsh..

Re: Garcia vacates WBC title.
Cant really ignore Garcias win over Matthysse as he did win on my card, but have to admit woudlve loved to see a rematch as likewise i had matthysse not only winning but coming on strong before his eye closed. Thought matthysse wouldve jumped at a rematch
But garcia has done nothing since then and looks like a fighter short of confidence.
Postol is a good fighter, very technical with not a lot of holes albeit doesnt have any one particular strong attribute and think matthysses power edge should see him win a world title hopefully setting up a intruiging class with crawford

Garcia looks like a fighter who has discovered he can punch, and since that has ignored his skills and just looks for one big punch. If he doesn't start upping his game and stop looking for that one big punch I don't think he'll do much at 147lbs.

Never thought his 'skills' were that great in all honesty. Good, but not exactly Amir Khan (not saying he's the be all and end all, just someone technically strong).
Garcia is a guy with power, a chin and good timing.

Re: Garcia vacates WBC title.
Did we really need a thread on this?
Could have told you six months ago the Matthysse rematch had become something of a phobia to Garcia. It's a shame as their rematch was one of the most eagerly anticipated fights in boxing for some. Must really care about the fans Garcia.
Totally unsurprised but a little sickened nonetheless, only because it was so totally predictable. I think those who thought Garcia got lucky in that fight can feel vindicated tonight. Superstar my ar$e.

3 very good attributes to have in boxing, just ask Khan & Matthysse

That's a good point..............A number of fighters in the past have forgotten how they got there................Honey, Curry and Hamed to name a few...

Re: Garcia vacates WBC title.
Just read this on The Boxing Voice
The World Boxing Council has declared the WBC super-lightweight title vacant. Danny Garcia weight situation forces his decision to fight at welterweight and confirm his physical ability to compete in that división while assesing the possibility of returning to 140 .
Garcia has competed in over the weight fights and has notified the WBC of his concern in making the 140 limit . The WBC will coordinate a specific medical study of body mass composition to be performed at UCLA to determine the division in which he is safe to fight.
The WBC Board of Governors has voted in favor of honoring Danny Garcia with the designation of Champion Emeritus which will allow him to perform his medical tests and shall he be cleared to fight in super lightweight, Garcia will have the right to challenge for the championship.
Surely a boxer & his camp should know what is the best weight for him to fight at and take responsibility for it. He now gets the right to fight the winner if his weight is right for LWW

Good attributes indeed! Certainly ones that'll go a long to making you successful. But I don't really class them as 'skills'.

Chin obviously not. Power you can develop, you work on technique but 'power' itself is not a skill. But timing I think is and its a crucial part of being a good boxer. We always talk/hear about FMjr's timing, would he be the boxer he is with poor timing?

Floyd's timing is exceptional, but it's part of a myriad of skills in which he excels. It's the only thing Garcia has which I would consider 'skill'. And power can't really be learned/developed. No amount of training of technique improvement was going to add sting to Paulie M's punches. Khan is an interesting example, good boxer with strong 'technique' but nobody had been able to train him to sit down on his punches sufficiently to generate real ko power.

Actually give Paulie half a shout there. His chin should last, he's a tough kid. Expect Garcia to take a decision by a couple of rounds but not much more.

If Paulie turns up like he did against Broner he will outbox Garcia all night long and lose an SD.
If he turns up like he did Porter then he may get blown away with that left hook.....

Re: Garcia vacates WBC title.
Well he didn't stink against Hatton.
Didn't stink against Khan.
Didn't stink against Cotto.
All top tier boxers/fighters and all great fights and all beat him well.
Your boy "OMG he's a triple weight world champ and the next Floyd" Broner struggles massively and gets gifted the decision & belt and suddenly Paulie M is some stinker.
Transparency & hypocrisy with you, Truss, are as predictable and reliable as night & day.

Re: Garcia vacates WBC title.
Actually have to agree with Truss here in a sense - about time someone brought the curtain down on Malignaggi somehow getting these lucrative / world title fights over and over again, for me. He's dropped more stinkers on the world than Truss after a king-sized chicken and stuffing sandwich.
I respect his ability to compete at a high level with such a harmless punch on him, and he's proved more than once that he's a very hard lad as well. But I think he's been allowed to prosper a bit too much through simply talking a good game, with his ability to make people take what comes out of his mouth over what he's repeatedly shown in the ring, which should be way more important. I've heard plenty of people say stuff like he's only a bigger punch away from being one of the best fighters on the planet, but I've just never seen it with him.
I thought the Porter shellacking might have ended his days as a viable opponent for the big names, but obviously not!

A Porter-battered Malignaggi over a fresh Lucas(who you've been mandated to fight) ?
Am I missing something?
Floyd.....please don't ever give this man a shot...

Danny Garcia has to be the luckiest current world champion. He was gifted decisions against Mauricio Herrera and Lamont Peterson and struggled against Zab Judah.

Struggled against an ancient derelict Morales too, first time out.
The N'Dou fight was the only stinker I've seen Paulie M in, but then maybe I've been lucky....

Re: Garcia vacates WBC title.
Thought Paulie stunk the place out against Hatton. Went into his shell as soon as he felt a big body punch.
As for Garcia hes one dimensional but tough as nails. Beat Matthysse fair and square but has been lucky at least once maybe twice since then.
