Wilder v Molina
Wilder finished the game but pretty hopeless Molina in the 9th in a fight that was a lot better than expected. Wilder looked flaky and was ready to go in the 3rd round himself. A better opponent or a natural finisher probably would have knocked him out. I suspect Wilders reign may be short lived but fun while it lasts.

Re: Wilder v Molina
Hard to disagree. Wilder looks very tentative in there. You have to wonder if Molina has him unwilling or reluctant to engage what is he going to do when he looks over the other corner and sees Wlad stood there.

Povetkin is gonna be a two time world champion by the end of the year.

Re: Wilder v Molina
That's a shame actually. Thought that stivernes burger king obsession may have flattered him but had hoped not.
Re: Wilder v Molina
Not going to read into this too much if I'm honest. Fought for the first time as a world champion In front of a sell out home coming crowd.
He was always going to be tentative and different to when he had no pressure and could walk people down and not really care.
Now that's out the way I think he will be ok.
You already know I don't rate Povetkin, I think he is garbage, Huck beat him. Wilder will stop him in 5.

Re: Wilder v Molina
Funnily enough MM I was just thinking you could probably allow for a little bit of tentativeness in Wilder's work for the reasons you outlined, first defence, huge crowd in his home town etc. Also being billed as saviour of both American heavyweight boxing and the division must create some pressure. However Molina having him on bambi legs in the third is less easy to explain.
Would not like to comment on what he would do against a seemingly reinvigorated Povetkin but certainly saw little last night to suggest Wlad needs to go scurrying for the retirement home just yet.

To he honest, I'm not big on Povetkin, or at least I wasn't. But he looked in the best shape I'd ever seen him against Perez, which indicates a good camp. Combine that with his hot streak, and the fact that he showed against Wlad that even if you're beating him from pillar to post, he'll drive forward continuously... and I think he'll beat Wilder because he can bang him out, or he can simply keep charging, which I think will be the win

Re: Wilder v Molina
Wilder should ve finished the fight in the first, the first time Molina was cowering in the corner, but he didn't.
Two reasons spring to mind as to why;
1. He wanted to give the fans a longer fight,
2. He was terrified.
Either way it backfired and he was nearly KOed himself.
Overall an unconfident effort and confidence is everything at heavyweight. Either he gets his mentality right or his reign will be a short one.

I think last night proved Wilder is nowhere near Wlad's level

Wilders not as good a boxer a Klitschko but I think he has real shot of knocking Klitschko out if he really goes for him.

Re: Wilder v Molina
Bit harsh Wheelchair.
Everyone is entitled to go through a period of uncertainty in the ring.
It wasn't too long ago we were seeing Klitshcko sparked out a few times....pacquiao being stopped......Khan getting blasted by Prescott.....hell the list goes on.
He went in against Stiverne and did the business and looked great doing so (a lot of people thought he would lose that fight).....
I'd like Povetkin to come forward and run at wilder, but I don't think he would be that stupid. Wilder can dig....and he can dig hard....if you don't manage to catch him and he catches you then it's goodnight.

Re: Wilder v Molina
You say that but Povetkin was stupid enough to do that for 12 rounds against Wlad and despite the numerous fouled knockdowns he was never truly hurt or in trouble of getting stopped so think he blitzes Wilder with relative ease.

I just think Wilder is too basic in terms of skill set to get near Wlad

When Wilder lets his hands go he absolutely windmills. Wlad would have a field day with him, in my opinion. Really think he'd be on the wrong end of a hiding.

Wilder is a bad match up for Klitschko. All wrong for Klitschkos A,B,C boxing routine.
There doesnt seem to be a heavyweight in history that doesnt get their ass whipped by Klitschko on here though.

I still get embarrassed for Wlad watching him destroyed by a "straight punching" Corrie Sanders...
Get even more embarrassed by how he had to get his big brother to sort him out for him !!.

Re: Wilder v Molina
Tell me who he's beaten since better than Sanders ???
People always hold defeats against fighters when rating them....
You'd be stupid If you didn't..
Let's forget Spinks beat Larry 30 yrs ago and have Larry number 1 at Heavy..
