First topic message reminder :
I thought with no place to discuss European Tour events, and with important upcoming event. I felt it would be a good idea to set up a thread to I am going to try and keep this updated every week with selected tee times.

Not sure how accurate that is.
Correct. See my post with video earlier in the thread. Got it from the course website.

Think the first hole is the second of Gullane 2. Played there a couple of years ago. It looked quite a gentle slope on the tv previews but you need blinkin climbing gear to up there!

Is anyone heading out to watch this?
I love gullane and usually try and play it at least 3-4 times over the summer, and not just no.1 but 2 and 3 as well. No.1 isn't actually all that good value at over £100 a round but for about £40 you can play 2 and for even less play no.3. 1 isn't really any better than the other two unless you judge courses on length or championshipness.
I will head to the open but can't make it to the Scottish Open.

Got a 4 day ticket, but probably just Fri and Sun. I'm sure I'll spot you on the Friday as the person shouting "You da man Tiger", obviously you won't be doing that on the Sunday.

I am really hoping the R&A manufacture a MAJ and Keegs pairing.

Lots of speculation as to who the R&A will send out with Tom Watson next week.
Probably not Mickelson; Webb Simpson has been texting Dawson non-stop lobbying him for one of the slots, but not sure Dawson uses such technology, still on carrier pigeons.
Maybe someone like Els and Rose?
Quite interesting article on last rounds at certain majors, including Palmer's last US Open when he was grouped with John Mahaffey and no-one could figure out why. Until they discovered that there was an Oakmont member called Mahaffey . . . . .

Thats a big gap on your golfing CV Kwini, That stretch of Coastline from Musselburgh to North Berwick of the A198? is just golfing paradise.
Nice 3 birdie finish from Howeller, wonder if he can get 4 rounds in without throwing in a couple of big numbers, if he can he won't be far away. Bet Gmac would have bought that finish :-/

I thought Olesen was trying to prove me wrong, having said on Kwini's thread that he wasn't quite living up to the hype. But he's going backwards today....
I really think Lowry will win a major at some point, the Open being his best chance. I'll have money on him

I think he's more likely to drink the bottle than use it to win a major, but there's no doubt he's a decent player these days at the upper European Tour echelon, even if he is still a fat repulsive gutlord.

Re: European Tour 2015 - DP World Tour Championship
Tightly compressed leaderboard until one of the top guys can string together some birdies, top 77 all within 7 shots.
Looks like the cut could go to -3 - that'll leave some good names (Colsaerts, Levy, An, Berger, Ilonen etc) without a payday, and others still with lots to do.
Olesen can't afford any more dropped shots can he?

+7 today for Olesen after -7 yesterday. A 14 shot swing in 2 days is most impressive for a pro

I wouldn't be surprised if Sneds is paired with Watson the first two days. And possibly Luke
Sneds is a very good friend of Watson, and Luke was with Nicklaus is in final round in 2005 (with and Watson).

Snedeker is a good call, GPB. I was trying to think of non-Americans, doubt if it will be Luke again though. Possibly Oosthuizen or McDowell?
Big field - 80 something - playing Saturday, Poulter the only Top 50 guy to mess up his lines.

Jimmy Walker making an early run for worst round of the day (of many a day for him): +7 after four holes. Wouldn't have expected that in a million years.
He'll be flying solo on Sunday at this rate.

Nice to see Russell Knox bringing his PGA Tour form to the party.
Apparently he made a hole-in-one here in an earlier life.
Who is the 606'er who told us to watch out for Matthew Nixon about four years ago? He/she was right!!

Can't seem to find why exactly but he did withdraw from the French Open, I really hope it isn't the same wrist injury that took him out for a lengthy period. He really has gotten some rotten luck with injury.
In tennis Juan Martin Del Potro has just had his third wrist surgery, so I hope it isn't the same for Noren!

It is bizarre why they don't have a list anywhere.

Re: European Tour 2015 - DP World Tour Championship
My understanding was the initial group of "to fill the field " alts would get in via the June 28 ranking... but as of this week .... the July 5 ranking would be used.
EDIT: And to be clear here... I think the confusion comes in because players have been getting in via the OWGR late by TWO different criteria...
The first was the "fill the field" criteria that used a prior OWGR ranking list... that's the one that got in Molinari, Lingmerth... etc. But that wasn't the ALT list, it was in effect an "exemption" criteria. The ALT list is based off of the most recent July 5th ranking... just as the ALT list for last year was based off the July 6 ranking...

Ho robo!
Anything to up the number of Japanese participants. No-one ever accused the R&A of being transparent, can't understand why they can't publish such things on their web-site.
No matter to Marc Warren; very happy to see he's going like a train, and surely a good e.w. investment for next week. He still reminds me a bit of Matt Every . . . . .

Yeah.. it is odd there [apparently] wasn't a published list this year... Last year there must have been or at least a press release on it... I Googled it up and found it in a bunch of media stories dated July 7, 2014 with the 2014 alts listed... But this year I can find NOTHING on it. Also odd... I seem to remember this "fill the field" and Alt process clearly laid out last year on the Open site... if I recall correctly, that's how I learned about it. But again... I can find NOTHING about it this year, on the Open site or anywhere..... really odd.

Tweet from the Open Championship promoting the Champions Challenge.
Open Champs missing from the picture
Arnie, Jack, Roberto, Lee, Johnny, The Shark,
Mark O'Meara's picture is missing, but I can't imagine why he would not play! He is in the field.
I guess that is Peter Thomson and Bob Charles flanking Gary Player on the top row. Good for them for making the long trek to St Andrews from Australia and New Zealand.
And it is disappointing that Arnie, Nicklaus, Trevino, Miller, and Norman are not going to play.
Roberto I can understand. He is 92 yrs old and IIRC, his health is not that good.
Edit: O'Meara is pictured, but Lehman is not, along with Daly and Rory.
