Dan Rafael
Dan Rafael seems to get a lot of criticism on this board,am wondering why? I am not that familiar with him aside from his infrequent contributions on Sky.

Re: Dan Rafael
Everyone gets criticism on this board, other than a perhaps Ali and Robbo.

Re: Dan Rafael
He has an agenda against certain boxers based on the access they give him.
I actually prefer his content to a lot of others though.

Having Manny up 4-2 is the only thing I know where he's took a bashing..
Hardly talked about on here....Unless Haz is using the fact he's a journalist to tell us we know F*** all whenever there is an argument he agrees with him on !!!.

Re: Dan Rafael
Can't say that I've seen his name thrown about the boards too often in recent times, which is a pity. Like the man himself, Rafael's name is not merely to be thrown around but to be hurled with great force.
He's a bit like Bunce over here, apart from weighing about twice as much as our own boxing motormouth. Knows his stuff but is at least as interested in, and adept at, self-promotion as he is at spreading the good news about the sport. Again like Bunce, appears to have a deep-seated aversion to any opinion that doesn't mirror his own and largely dismisses such opinions on the grounds that he has been ring-side far more often than whoever has the temerity to offer them.
His writing ability is neither better nor worse than that of most of the boxing hacks of the modern era. Wordsmithery is no longer in great demand from boxing publications or media outlets that feature the sport and it is consequently in short supply. As recently as the 1990s, we could read McIlvanney, Srikumar Sen and the late Jon Rendall on this side of the pond. Now? Hardly anybody worth a second glance. Kevin Mitchell, maybe. Same in the States. The days of Mailer, Oates, Runyon and Plimpton are sepia-tinted pleasures. What we have instead is a depressing array of puffed-up toads. Some croak louder than others, that's all, and are therefore top of their lily-pad. In that regard, Rafael need certainly bow to no-one.

I have always though Fat Dan is an internet geek, a product of social media. He gets boobie bits of information and tweets it or blogs about it. He's doesn't seem to be a feature writer although he does throw his hat in the ring.

Mitchell has just written a book about Muhammad Ali. Anyone who adds to that already overstocked and bloated library automatically makes it onto my s*it list for an indeterminate but significant period.

Re: Dan Rafael
I always thought Dan Rafael and Scot Gilfoid and Dan Ambrose are aliases. Maybe I got that wrong. Perhaps someone could enlighten us.
He's a fat cretin that's all I got to add with an agenda against British fighters. Not an ounce of good grace in his whole
slobbish body.

Don't be ridiculous. Scott Gilford is a run of the mill troll. Whatever you think of Rafael he's better than that.Herman Jaeger wrote:I always thought Dan Rafael and Scot Gilfoid and Dan Ambrose are aliases. Maybe I got that wrong. Perhaps someone could enlighten us.

Gilfoid is just embarrassing. Just a bore. Do prolific and formulaic he gives trolls a bad name.
Rafael isn't that bad.

Re: Dan Rafael
Rafael's spiteful, humourless and a bit autistic. Just your typical internet user, really.
Also pronounces his own name wrong. 'Rafe-yell'?! Nah, mate. That's not how you say it.
